Liv opened her new locker, and picked some books out, to shove them into her bag. The bright corridor was filled with people making a lot of noise. Some broken conversations reached her ears, but she ignored them, just like sporadical laughs.
The new school was annoying. She didn't know anybody, and every teacher seemed like an asshole, but the worst part was something completely different.
She pulled her phone out of her pocket and checked the screen. No new messages, no new calls.
- Asshole - she said to herself, then almost threw the device into the locker.
At the last moment, she managed to stop herself and ended up hiding it back where she took it from. She closed the metal door and threw her backpack over her shoulder to join the passing crowd of teenagers, slowly making it to their classes.
Despite putting the phone away, she couldn't stop thinking about the fact that even after three weeks she didn't hear anything from Trevor. It was so frustrating, that she wanted to choke him if she ever had a chance to see him again.
With those thoughts, she reached her classroom, and as she was about to grab the door handle, somebody blocked her, by slipping between her and the entrance. It was a petite blondie with long hair and an exposed belly button. The pink top and pink short skirt made her look familiar, but Liv still couldn't tell who it was.
- Hi! Oh my god, I thought it was you! I can't believe we are in the same school! - squeaked the blondie.
It was so surprising that Liv instinctively took a step back.
- Uh... Y-yeah - she squeezed out, frowning her eyebrows, as she tried to remember who this could possibly be.
- You don't remember me, do you? It's me, Stacy!
- Oh... Right. Stacy. I thought you looked familiar. So... How can I help you? - Liv asked still confused about the whole situation.
She tried to smile, but it felt so fake, that she quickly gave up, which the blondie didn't even seem to notice.
- I'm actually making a party this weekend for the first year - Stacy announced with a sassy tone. - There will be a few older people, though, but don't worry, they all are cool.
- So? - Liv's lips froze at the 'o' sound.
- I want to invite you, silly! - blondie said and leaned forward to whisper. - There will be some booze and some handsome boys.
- You know, Stacy... I don't want to... You know what? I'll be there. Just tell me where.
Stacy jumped and started clapping with just her fingers while giggling out of happiness.
- Give me your number. I'll text you everything - she said all excited.
- S-sure...
Liv pulled her phone out, and the girls exchanged numbers. Then Stacy left. With her not blocking the entrance, Liv finally could enter the classroom. As she quickly found out, not only everybody was already inside, but the teacher even started the class.
The man in his forties started scolding her, but she ignored him, rolling her eyes, as she want to sit down in her seat despite all the yelling he had to do to calm down.

With that began a boring rest of the week. Liv eventually received the address and the date of the party, which was planned for Saturday evening. She found some decent clothes in her drawer, then, rocking a black skirt with a T-shirt with the logo of one of the bands she was listening to, she went to the given location.
The place was Stacy's house. Her parents happened to be out for the week, so the charming blondie, without even thinking twice, organized a party.
The music could be heard even from the street. Some dull rock, but at least it wasn't annoying. Liv took a deep breath and headed to the building, crossing the street as she walked. The door was left wide open, with a bunch of different people hanging around the entrance. Stacy was a bit further, greeting the guests, who had just arrived. Upon seeing Liv, she immediately took care of the girl and led her to the kitchen, where most people were located.
There was an island in the middle with a sink and enough space to cook. The rest of the kitchen equipment, like the stove or dishwasher, was placed around the walls with many cabinets. Teenagers were sitting everywhere they could. All talking and drinking.
Somebody gave her a cup filled with beer, and as Liv turned around to ask Stacy about the people present at the party, she discovered that the blondie was gone.
- Great - she said to herself.
Since she didn't really know the people, she started looking around, hoping to find somebody to hang out with, but people were already chatting, gathered in small groups. It felt weird trying to join them, so she just decided to explore a bit.
She ended up upstairs for a moment, but when she noticed a few couples making out on their way to the rooms, she just turned around and aborted the mission. That was simply too much for her.
Then she went outside, to the garden behind the house. It was big, with a pool in the middle. Currently empty, but that didn't prevent a few people from laying on the sunbeds placed there, drinking beer from the plastic cups, and not really doing anything else.
As she was about to leave, she noticed a few folks heading deeper into the garden. Normally she wouldn't really care, but she noticed that they exchanged something and one of them turned around to go back to the house.
It was a skinny guy with green hair sticking out from under a beanie. He had a black T-shirt, with a jean jacket over it, and pants with holes in them. She also noticed some heavy-looking bracelets on his wrists.
Out of curiosity, she wanted to follow him, but as soon as she entered the house, he vanished from her sight. As she was looking around for him, she spotted Stacy and went straight to her.
The blondie noticed Liv coming toward her, so she broke apart from a group of girls she was speaking with.
- Hey. So, how do you like the party? - asked the blondie.
- It's fine, I guess... But you have a drug dealer walking around - Liv pointed out.
- Oh... That's... That's fine - she smiled. - People just want to have fun.
- I don't think so...
- It's fine. Come with me.
- Why?
- Just come, I want to show you something - said Stacy, and grabbed Liv's hand.
She wanted to pull out of her grasp but hesitated, and then allowed the blondie to take her. They ended up in the living room, where the boy with green hair also happened to be. It became clear, that Stacy actually wanted the two of them to meet.
The dealer spotted them, as he was speaking with some people, and actually left the group, to come forward towards the girls.
- What's going on? - he asked.
- This is Liv. Liv, this is Cricket - Stacy introduced them to one another.
- Hi, I guess? - he said almost immediately but didn't get any response.
- Cricket does sell drugs, but mostly he sells stuff that enhances your magic - Stacy explained to Liv but then turned to the boy. - She saw you selling your stuff, so I brought her here to explain.
He smiled.
- You don't like drugs, do you? Too many stupid stories from all the adults, who know better, I bet. All I sell is harmless stuff. See this? - he pulled out a small plastic bag with two green tablets inside. - This is my main thing. It's called X-37. It gives a huge boost to your magic. Forever.
- Yeah. That's what all of you say - said Liv. - Just to get a few shillings.
He laughed.
- I'm selling only legit stuff. You don't believe it? Here, have it for free and check yourself - he extended the hand with the pills.
The girl hesitated, so Stacy reacted first. She grabbed the pills and shoved them into Liv's pocket, in her skirt.
- This is legit stuff - she said and left.
Cricket too didn't hang around much longer. He returned to the group he was talking with before, so Liv was left alone.
The whole situation made her feel wrong, so she left the living room and then the house. On her way out, she placed the cup on top of some drawer, then escaped the party completely.
