21. Unlikely Savior

21. Unlikely Savior

It took Trevor around thirty minutes to reach the street from the address he was given, and another ten to find the correct building. Despite a long time, the walk wasn't so bad, as the weather was nice. Sun was shining from the cloudless, blue sky, and a bit of wind provided just enough cooling so it wasn't too hot.

The area where the property was supposed to be, was quite empty. Only a few buildings were there, and all looked like they weren't really used for a long time. The right building was, just as he thought, abandoned. It looked like some warehouse with rows of tall but narrow windows reaching from the middle of the walls, all the way to the top. Originally the glass was thick, and it was hard to see through it. Now, most of it was broken, and you could easily see what was under the roof from inside. A bunch of connected, heavy-looking beams made out of solid metal. Now a bit rusted, but still supporting the roof pretty well.

He had to walk around to find the entrance. At first, he found a large gate, but it was completely closed with a chain and a padlock, but then he found another way in. A simple grey door covered in peeling paint. The lock was absent, and instead, there was a giant hole, so he had no problems getting inside through there.

A few people were already in, sitting on some old furniture gathered there. Bunch of chairs, a couch, and other stuff. All damaged and dirty, but the kids didn't seem to mind at all. Billy and Joe were not there yet.

Without saying a word, he scanned through. Overall the space was quite large, with a lot of garbage covering the floor. Empty bottles, broken glass, and wrappers from some food like chips or candy bars.

Nobody greeted him, but all the attention focused on his person. He didn't mind it this time, as in his head, the whole thing was about to end. He fixed his backpack on his back and started walking around, to check out the arena for the upcoming fight.

A few minutes in, a noise from outside reached him. Clearly, a bunch of people was getting closer and closer. They were laughing, and talking loudly. Something he expected from people that hung around Billy and Joe.

Soon he got his confirmation, as several people got inside, and the two were among them. There was a whole 'Crash' team, a bunch of cheerleaders, and other popular kids. Suddenly a chill went down his spine.

There were too many of them and only a few people that clearly were not from Billy and Joe's crew. The fear started to slowly sneak into his head. Suddenly he remembered Liv and her words: „Don't go".

- Are you ready, west? - asked Joe, as he pushed his way through the people, and made it to the front.

Billy joined him almost immediately.

- Yes – said Trevor with confidence, pushing the fear to the very corner of his mind.

There was no backing down at that point. Especially with his magic. He was powerful now, and wouldn't let anybody step on him anymore.

The expression on his face changed. The anger got outside.

- Good – said Joe, and dropped his backpack on the ground.

Billy did the same. Then they both stepped further. Behind them, the crowd started forming a circle around the three fighters. There were not enough people to make it tight, so there were holes here and there, but nevertheless, the crowd succeeded.

Trevor followed his opponents, and also took off his backpack and dropped it on the ground, then kicked it to the side. It slid on the floor, bumping into a bunch of garbage.

- Let's get this over with – he said.

Both of his opponents just laughed, and like before, they started to move in opposite directions to flank him. He knew that he was on a timer, and had to pick up his target before they manage to attack him, so he summoned 'Flare' in both of his hands, then threw the flaming ball at one of them, then at the other.

They both dodged, so missiles missed their targets, and went further, causing a panic among the watchers, who also had to dodge. Trevor didn't really care, and summoned magic in both hands again, to leap forward towards Billy, who happened to be closer and started swinging his burning hands.

The crowd reacted to every attack with a gasp of awe.

There was no technique to his action, he just wanted to his opponent. The first attempts were missed, but then Trevor grabbed onto the bully. Billy managed to free himself and leaped back, just when Joe attacked from behind screaming out of anger. He rammed into Trevor, and knocked him over, then grabbed onto his wrists one by one, to twist them behind his back.

This made the crowd erupt into cheers, as they clearly mostly were supporting the bullies.

Trevor had no other option than to let go of his magic, otherwise, his own clothes would catch fire. Joe noticed that and laughed, then using brute force picked his victim up.

Meanwhile, Billy was done taking off his hoodie. He threw it to the ground, where it got completely swallowed by flames.

He was enraged and charged forward to punch the subdued kid in the stomach. The hit was so strong, that it almost managed to make Trevor puke, and it was just the beginning.

After that, more punches came. To his face, to his ribs, and to his liver. All very painful, but he somehow endured and even didn't lose eye contact with Billy. It pissed him off, even more, so he swung with all his might, knocking Trevor out completely.

Joe just let go of the boy's limp body, allowing it to collapse on the ground. Then the crowd rushed to cheer on the victorious, but they got pushed to the sides by a screaming, angry girl, who even zapped one person.

The ruckus was enough to create a pathway for her to reach the boy laying on the ground. Liv dropped to her knees and pulled him up a bit, so his head would rest on her lap, then picked a phone out of her pocket.

- Time to bounce! - somebody yelled from the crowd.

All the kids reacted immediately. Jumping and laughing, they all rushed to exit, leaving the two alone.
