As the day of school finished, Trevor headed straight to the cafeteria, to get there before his other classmates could.
The building was already packed with students that formed a long line under electric lights emitted by lamps placed in the ceiling, just to grab the trays and fill them with tasty stuff. The tables in the half of the hall closer to the counter were already packed, contrary to the opposite side, where only a couple of people were sitting. Usually reading books or their own notes, while eating.
They clearly picked their spots to have some personal space, and not get interrupted too much.
Trevor had a different idea, he wanted to fill his belly as fast as possible and get going. After all, the quests he received during class needed to be properly examined and picked up.
His plan needed a few long minutes before he was able to realize it. Just in time, as when he was finished, Duncan and his crew entered the building. They spotted him too, but since he was already leaving, they couldn't really pick on him without chasing the boy through the whole cafeteria.
He escaped as fast as it was possible. Not because he was afraid or anything like that. He simply had better things to do, than wasting his time on a bunch of bullies.
He got to his room and closed the door behind himself. Then quickly changed his clothes, and immediately went to the safe room.
In that space, he finally summoned the semitranslucent window with his new missions and scanned through them briefly. The easiest one of the three quests seemed to be the 'Elementalist' one, so he picked it and allowed the memories to get ingested by his mind.
It was a mistake, as the flashes of different feelings stormed his brain by force.
- Argh! - a groan escaped his mouth, as he stumbled backward hitting the wall with his back.
Only thanks to this he didn't collapse. As the pain faded away, he explored the new memories and immediately began to follow them.
The instructions were simple. All he needed to do, was push the energy to one of his hands, and then outside of his body, just to focus on the element he wanted it to transform. He started with heat, as it was the most familiar one, and the air around his palm started slowly, but visibly, tremble.
He could feel it on his skin as the temperature increased. Shortly after that flames emerged out of his hand, and kept burning, as he pumped more of his power into them.
The goal was to get as familiar with the feeling as he possibly could, to, as an end goal, be able to achieve the elemental change on a whim, without even trying too much. For now, though, he needed to really try, as his instinct was pushing him more towards casting 'Flare' than keeping up the fire.

He continued, until all of his energy was gone, and then stopped, to switch to meditation, but as he sat down on the ground, somebody knocked on the door to his room. Annoyed, he stood up and went to see who was this unwanted guest.
He opened the door, revealing Lena with a bit more color on her pale face than usual and lips tightly put together into a narrow line. Without a word, she stormed in.
"Is she embarrassed?", was his first thought.
He closed the door behind her, and meanwhile, she managed to sit on the edge of his bed.
- I need a favor - she said puffing up her cheeks a bit.
This made her look even cuter.
- Favour? W-what can I possibly do for you? - he asked, and a smile crawled on his face, as this whole situation looked like some kind of joke.
After all, she was the Lena Karcrow. A girl whom everybody in school was afraid of. She never had any problems with anything and easily was proving left and right that she was better than anybody at anything.
It took him a moment to register that she wasn't joking, and really needed help with something.
- Y-yeah... S-sure... What do you need? - he corrected himself when he finally realized that whatever it was, it had to be quite a dire situation for her to come to him.
- I'm hungry. I've been starving for days now, and I can't sneak any food into my room - she said, and looked to the side, so their eyes couldn't meet.
- You want me to bring you something? Here?
- Yes! Why do you think I came all the way here? - she hissed at him. - I'm starving.
At first, Trevor wanted to make fun of her, but he quickly came to the conclusion that it wasn't the greatest thought he ever had in his life, and there was a possibility of this ending quite poorly for him.
- Ok. I'm going...
- Not now! I just came here. It will look suspicious if you leave now.
- T-then... What do you want to do, while we wait? - he asked.
She shrugged her shoulders in response.
- I don't know. What do you want to do?
The boy scratched his head thinking, and he quickly came up with a way to positively spent this time.
- How about you explain to me how you do all the enchantments in our class? You've been fighting with the teacher, and doing all the tasks by yourself. Meanwhile, I fell behind. I've been doing notes of what you did and trying to figure everything out on my own, but it's hard...
She sighed.
- Fine. Show me the notes.
Trevor smiled and quickly went to grab the correct notebook from his desk, where it was left since he made the last attempt to crack Lena's enchantments.
Then they sat together for around an hour, and she explained to him everything step by step. When they finished, the boy went outside, to get some fruits from the cafeteria, and bring them back to his room.
She devoured everything as soon as the door closed behind Trevor. He watched her a little bit disturbed by the scene that just transpired in front of his eyes. The passion in her eating process was quite something.
Then they talked for a while until it became dark outside. Only then did she leave, to keep up the appearances.
After everything that happened, Trevor was tired, but before going to bed, he actually quickly chacked his 'Status' window, to verify how much he gained during his practice. To his surprise, the 'Elemental Proficiency: Fire' skyrocketed to a whole 11, but that wasn't all. His 'Control' was also a bit higher thanks to the practice with the quill, which professor Winchester taught them all about. Now there was a whole 107 next to the 'Control' attribute.
