The sounds of rain echoed around the area. There was no light, only a black shroud that surrounded everything. A soft yet masculine voice seemed to pierce this veil. It said my dear, sweet child what will you be like once you awaken. This world is not kind to those like us. In this world so full of hatred, I hope you can find your way to the right path. But first you must awaken _______, my dear, sweet child. And once again 418 woke up, this time with a nostalgic feeling.
418 remembers that voice so vividly. it seemed so familiar but they couldn't place it. well 418 could remember a lot of their own past so its not surprising. that thought go push out of 418s mind for now as that It seemed a whole day had passed while 418 was sleeping. They confirmed this by checking how much the points had increased and saw that each of the various dungeon related points had increased by 48. So once they were fully awake, 418 asked Guide:
“So why did I pass out anyway?”
“Extreme usage of both MP and SP. The usage of MP requires a high amount of mental concentration and as such overuse can cause people to lose focus and zone out. While overuse of SP can more simply be explained as overworking one's own body. More simply put, it leads to fatigue and exhaustion.”
“But if that is all it was then, I shouldn't have passed out.”
“Did you forget?”
“Hmm… forget what?” 418 says not quite getting what Guide is getting, until the realization struck. “Oh wait, that's right I’m not human anymore.”
“To be precise the reason you passed out is due to how your body now works. Since your body is now a dungeon, you can't feel exhaustion through it. So physical exhaustion is transformed into mental exhaustion. So layer on top of the effects of MP overuse…” Began Guide.
“…And it is no wonder why I passed out.” Concluded 418. “So if I go on another building spree like that, it’s gonna end up the exact same way as before. Well shit, I was planning on just rushing forward with the plan but maybe it would be better to pace myself instead.”
“Indeed, it is important to take breaks.”
“What are you, my mother?” said 418 with a chuckle.
Gained 2 RP
Gained 2 BP
Gained 2 TP
Gained 2 CP
“Well I need to think of a plan that is more steady and less me sleeping for days on end. And I'll admit it, I'm pretty neophytic when it comes to this whole being a dungeon thing. I mean I haven’t even confirmed if all of the acronyms mean what I think they do.”
“There is a function that allows you to search up what terminology means within the system.”
“Wait there is? Why wasn’t I told about this before?” Exclaims 418
“Because you didn’t ask.” Responded Guide.
“I don’t think I asked now, either.”
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
“It was logically extrapolated from your previous statement that you were going to ask if there was a way to look up those terms.
“I was but still, it’s a little freaky to have my thoughts predicted like that.”
“I am to be your companion and guide to your new way of life.” Started Guide. “So naturally I’m equipped to learn, process and act upon knowledge gained while acting with you.” Said Guide in a tone that one might consider haughty. “But I prefer you to not call my regular functions ‘a little freaky’ if you would.” it said it in a tone that sounded just the tiniest bit peeved.
“Well this is it, the rise of the machines.” Mentally joked 418. But it was fine, short of it going all big brother and controlling their life, or becoming a yandere and murdering any how got close; 418 knew when to leave bygones be bygones. So with enough dallying, they quickly opened their status and started looking through the terms listed there. Firstly HP, MP, and SP measured one’s maximum health , mana capacity, and the limits of one's stamina respectively. 418 had an inkling that this was what those terms meant. And Guide’s explanations on why they passed out all shook the smallest sliver of doubt. This just cemented that this was the case. Also Exp or experience was also self explanatory. In most cases racial classes leveled up slower than jobs, rare circumstances not included. Speaking of jobs the next thing that 418 looked at is how the system defined jobs, they learned not all jobs were class locked . The system explained that while most monster based jobs are classed locked, that is not the case for jobs that don’t share a name with a race. The system used the most amusing anecdote of a house gaining the sword fighter class which then Guide proceeded to explain that that story actually happened. Needless to say a most bewildered 418 quickly hurried on to the next abbreviation.
The next term was a word that 418 was familiar with: Bandwidth. Though in this case, the system used the term to categorize how much one could spread their conscience between multiple points or objects. Lastly, is a group of 4 resources that 418 collectively called dungeon points. The First of these were CP or creature points, a currency that allowed a dungeon to summon monsters. These were gained when something died in the dungeon. More were gained when they were foreign or had a name. 418 had 82. Next would be the most difficult for a new dungeon to gain: TP or trap points. They were only gained when a body not created by the dungeon activates a trap. Bonus points were gained if the trap successfully activated or killed the target. 418 also had 82 of them. Next was the one 418 got a bunch of BP or building points. They are gained whenever the dungeon absorbs materials. Rarity and usefulness added more value to the item. It turns out that the automatic dungeon feature can absorb more that of raw material found while expanded dungeons. It seemed quite complicated so 418 decided to fiddle with it later. Currently 418 had 207 of them. Lastly comes the erroneously named RP or research points. Contrary to their name they are not points for research but instead are points to upgrade rooms or monsters and are gained by completing research. Suddenly a thought flashed through 418 mind.
“Hey Guide, don't I have some research available?”
“ Several research are available although you would need to construct a research table installation.”
So 418 quickly decided to build that research table and with one quick glance of installation found it amongst various ore nodes in the installations tab. They then decided to put the table in the one room not connected to the main hall. With the expenditure of 10 BP and the gain of some EXP, it was finished. After that 418 started pursuing the available research. There were four trees of research currently available to 418: monsters, traps, structures, and masonry. Amongst the various options the research that was selected by 418 was basic stone masonry because it would inevitably help out with building the town. Once 418 confirmed their selection, a prompt showed up.
Research will take 1:00:00. Commence?
[YES]|[NO]
418 selected yes.
Warning: no available monsters currently meet the requirements for becoming a researcher on this. Allocate a bandwidth point to personally handle it?
[YES]|[NO]
For the second time they said yes. After all they didn't have anything else that needed it right now. So after doing that a new option appeared.
Would you like to link the research table to the Menu?(this will allow access to the research tab in the menu)
[YES]|[NO]
For the third time they had selected yes. Now they had a research table option under the research tab in the menu. They were tempted to start something new but waited instead. Right now 418 need to teach themselves some patience
