Morgan was writing in their journal about the previous day when guide alerted them to something.
“ It seems something has entered the dungeon” Guide stated plainly
“ What has entered the dungeon?” Asked Morgan
“It seems to be some sort of undead”
“Let me go see what it is, hmm i think it is some kind of lich. Though the mortal race seems to be a Sirin or Celestial due to the presence of wings. Though it appears to be coming up towards the town, so we can ask it soon.”
Just as Morgan had said the lich came to visit the town that was being constructed. Though it didn't take long for the lich to be surrounded by the kobolds guards. It is then at that moment that it decided to speak up.
“Well isn't this a warm welcome? Anyways I would like to talk to your master.” said the lich.
“I am right here. Forgive my troops they are still quite on guard from when we cleared the area of undead. I hope you understand that.” said Morgan, their voice appearing suddenly as their presence.
“Ah so the leader is an intelligent dungeon as I had hypothesized. It has been a long time since the last time I last laid eyes on one of your kind. I think I believe it has just smidgen more than 600 years ago. I believe they were called…”
“I am sorry for interrupting you, but I believe I need to know who you are and why you have come here?”
“ Ah, my apologies, I seem to have gone off on a tangent again. That sort of thing happens when you live for several hundred years. My name is Feng Bao and the purpose for coming here is to see what kind of dungeon you were.”
“And your verdict? Don't tell me you're going to entrust everything to me?”
“ I was. Why? Is it a bad thing?”
“Goddammit why must every new person I meet want to sacrifice themselves to me?”
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
“Who said anything about killing myself?! I just wanted to become a part of the dungeon by offering my phylactery to your core.”
“I'm sorry but how does that even work?”
“By want I remember by offering one's soul to a dungeon core the become a dungeon denizen. Since I’m a lich, my soul is now in said phylactery i offer that into the core and become a denizen. Normally one's contract would last until either the dungeon or the contract perishes but since I'm a lich and sacrificing my phylactery, you become my phylactery. Meaning if you perish, I will as well.”
“You would risk permanent death!? But why? You have been around a long time so I'm sure you know the danger this area is filled with. Particularly about Ouroboros.”
“Yes I’m aware of the danger the dungeon devourer brings. In truth one could call it scientific curiosity or boredom, it doesn’t really matter. I am doing it because I feel like this is the best course of action.”
“Really? You see someone going to face immediate danger and your best idea is to join them? Fucking idiotic plan right there.”
“So I take it you do not want my help?”
“I did not say that but if you really are sure about this, I will not stop you.”
“Yes I am sure about this.”
“Very well, Persephone.”
“Right here, great dragon.” Responded Persephone.
“Come with our guest to the core. If they try anything funny, kill them and smash their phylactery.
“On your command great dragon”
And so Persephone guided Feng Bao down to the core, passing all the monsters left on the path to the core. Once they reached Rook he stopped them for a moment before letting them pass. Their beyond the door lies Morgan in their gilded glory. When Feng Bao arrived all they did was put their phylactery, A silver necklace with a glowing red stone, near the pillar. The dungeon automatic processes took over at that moment

“God Dammit… not… again.” said Morgan, their consciousness fading.
And soon after that they once again fell.

As Morgan fell asleep the dweller conversion completed Feng Bao told Persephone “not to worry that the dungeon only fell asleep.” Which was responded to by saying “that she knows and this actually happens quite frequently. After that Persphone deemed the lich not a threat and left it on its own. Alone with its thoughts the lich thought about why it came here and why lord Ethil asked him to do it like this could the good who watches all come up with a better solution than this. But the way a god plans is beyond the realm of mortals. So it left the core room and asked if there was a space they could stay in.
