Chapter 20: Ingenuity

While the guild was preparing to go and visit the new dungeon. Said dungeon has discussed things with their scientist about improving the quality of living in the dungeon. Morgan had been running some ideas by Phyllis. It seems that the conversation was quite heated as each side made good points about what to do.

“As I said that would cause too much of a strain on you” Phyllis indignantly responded.

“It is fine. Running the system doesn’t really affect me too much, it will just leave me down one bandwidth point.” responded Morgan

“That's the problem. There should be no disadvantage for you, instead your willingness to restrict yourself in this situation is unbelievable.”

“Then what am I supposed to do? Building an extremely large reservoir would take up too much space and running a water trap without turning it off will create problems with controlling the flow and water speed.”

“I don’t know. Just give me more time, great dragon.”

“Time is a luxury we don't have right now. The people from outside the dungeon will be coming soon.”

“It’s still going to take some time, it's a bit of a puzzle. Wait, puzzle? That's it!” exclaimed Phyllis

“It seems like you have a solution to the issue now.” Responded Morgan

“I do. To use the trap system that constantly produces water in combination with the puzzle system to create a filing system that stops flowing water by designating a room with a puzzle switch that detects if the designated area is filled with the water.”

While this seems like a clashing of ideas and a new idea came forth from it in truth this whole thing is an experiment set in motion by Guide and Morgan. The focal point of it is to see if the dungeon monsters can grasp ideas they are not told about directly. As currently most of the kobolds were taught their knowledge by Morgan and while Feng Bao was from outside the dungeon there were restrictions on the actions she can perform as part of the dungeon due to her current status as a new denizen. Plus, she still needed to finish unpacking all of her books. So it came to this test to see if it is possible. And it seems it was.

Morgan then spoke to Phyllis. “Well Since you figured that out, why don’t I give you a new challenge? Figure out how to adjust the temperature of the water in local areas instead of all at the same time. That will be your next task.”

Phyllis nodded and replied, “As you command, Great dragon.”

“Temperatures effect on water is something that can easily be changed by shift the environment. Perhaps i could make something like that water heater in the great dragons memory on a larger scale. But since I don't have access to electricity. Maybe if i use flame and frost thrower traps…” Phyllis muttered to herself all the way back to the research lab.

After she left to figure out that puzzle, Morgan thought it was great that she could leave this problem to her subordinates so she could focus on a very important task: the creation of the first combat area.
