In Morgan's head there were only a handful realistic solutions on what the first combat area could be. While it was close the ultimate winner was the forest that would serve as Jack's arena. It would be a dual layered forest. The inner layer would be a sort of dark forest. It is a thick forested area covered in a foggy mist . It would serve as Jack's hunting grounds. The large trees that would appear to be so close together that it seems impassible. That would be the case until someone was being pursued. At that point the trees would seemingly stretch to an impossibly far apart to facilitate the chase. This would seem to be in their head but it would actually be the truth of the situation. This function was quite easy to do because the whole of the dark forest was considered a boss room. This proved to be a solid enough plan for now.
The outer layer, on the other hand, would be split into 3 biomes. The main biome would be a light forested mushroom hills. A forest with both giant mushrooms and large trees on a hilly terrain that makes up the majority of the outer layer. The second area is a cave in the north-eastern area of the outer area. This would also serve as a place for adventures to gather minerals for now. Later Morgan would create a proper place for adventures to gather those minerals. In fact the whole first area was full of materials that adventurers would desire. Potion ingredients, materials for weaponsmithing, and lots of monster parts from a variety of easy to defeat monsters, this would build a basis of what would attract adventures. That and the food that Cerus would make should also attract attention. Though there would be some worries if the supposed imperial chef is cooking in the planned tavern but that will be a problem for later down the line. Anyways the last biome was decided to be a little mini dungeon in the dungeon some ruins meant to mimic a dungeon. This small area was meant to test the adventurers combat abilities more than the rest of the areas. Anyways, it should keep them occupied for a while. Or at least until more areas are created. Morgan had a plan in place now so the next step was to put it into practice.
Or so was the plan which proved to be more difficult than first thought. While it was rather easy to make a false sky due to an option that allowed the dungeon to change the ceiling of a room to match the outside sky, what proved to be difficult was the trees. Trees as it turned out were actually rather hard to grow in a dungeon, or at least in a convincingly real way. One would think it was because of the lack of space, but there was actually plenty of that here under the mountain than they could use. And if there wasn’t there was also the way to expand space in the rooms with magic. But trees were weirdly stubborn about growing here. Well it was true that the trees didn’t need to be truly accurate, just enough to convince people that surely were already on their way, the first attempt had left Morgan with such a weird feeling that they were sure no one would think this was a beginner area and instead a trap. That would not do at all.
It took about a day and a half of constant fork but Morgan finally created something that would be considered a close enough approximation of a forest. Also while working on that Morgan had thought of a good way to allow those to challenge Jack. it would later be transcribed on a stone that all who entered the forest would see and know. The stone would read: “To challenge the master of the forest, gather the three proofs. Prove your knowledge to the guardian of the forest and pass his trial hidden underground. Prove your bravery and reach the proof hidden in the darkness hidden in the earth. Find the great beast and prove your strength to earn the proof hidden in the forest. Only with all three proofs shall one find their way to master of the forest. Remember the forest is merciful to all except those who break the rules.” With that done all of the planning was complete and with the rest of the forest designed it was time to start creating paths and designing encounters. First on the list was the cave. The cave was designed as an area with many interconnected corridors around a single large room. The corridors were a web of interconnected tunnels that were lined with various ores lining the walls. The ores are increasing in value as they approach the single large room in the center. This is where the danger lies as this location would both be the place in which the proof lies and the origin of the monsters in the cave. The monster that was designated for the cave was goblins. They’re a fairly weak monster alone but can be lethal in a gang. These goblins were not naturally created but rather formed from spawners. That meant that they didn’t learn from their experience and instead were given a baseline knowledge that they have. The knowledge that was given to the spawned how to fight, forge, and thieve. As well as the rules of a dungeon were taught to them. If one is not a rule breaker then the worst one can expect being knocked out and having some items liberated from their person. If they have broken the rules of the dungeon, then they risk everything from their most precious item, to their very body and soul. But that did not matter right now. Morgan had to finish the first test and finish designing the cavern.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
The cavern had been designed as a series of many interconnected tunnels and the room which became the goblin village and forge. And the trial was rather simple sounding at first: reach the room in the village without leaving the cavern or being knocked out. But one would have to be afraid because that was easier said than done. The caves were filled with ore so the goblins were sending out mining groups constantly. And if a mining group spotted the adventures the would alert the combat goblins and then we go to the last location they adventures were spotted. This would not prove to be too much of an issue if one was just trying to get all put the ores located in the deepest part of the caves, as the goblin would only attack those who broke rules while they were outside of the caves. But for one seeking the proof it could spell disaster. It could mean the fighting all the goblins in the cave all the goblins in the cave. That why it was a test of bravery. To use your strength, cunning, and/or knowledge to explore the cave and bravely or foolheartedly forge the path forward. Either way one would eventually come to the center room where the goblin village is. This was a place with 7 buildings scattered among the room. This place was dark like the rest of the caves. It was bright from the forge and magic crystals in the cave walls. The buildings closest to the entrance adventures would enter where the spawning huts for the melee goblin, the goblin thieves and fighters. Behind those were the huts for archers and mages. And two of the 3 remaining buildings contained several goblin types .The gathering hut contained miners, lumberjacks and hunters. While the crafting hut contained blacksmiths, armor smiths and craftsmen of various professions. All that was left was the last building which was a combination of the location of the goblin chief and the treasure vault. The vault contained nary a thing save for the proof of bravery. But this place would eventually be filled with treasure forged by the goblins and stolen from the adventures that intruded but that was something for later . The last thing Morgan did in the cave for now was summon the spawners and the goblin chief. The goblin chief has the evolved state of a goblin leader which was in turn an evolved state of a basic goblin. The monster could not progress further in evolution due to it being its final evolution and not being named. If it was named it could become a goblin king. It could also become more if it was made into a boss as well but that was necessary as it was set as a trial monster. A trial monster had to be set to some kind of trial as otherwise they had no purpose. But with that they gained the ability to respawn and they weren’t as dumb as the spawner monsters without making it a boss. Or another feature that changes the monster. After that the goblin chief was the last obstacle to get the proof . Once an adventure got the proof the goblins would let them pass without a fight unless they attacked a goblin. If that happened they would lose the proof and would have to leave the cave and the area for 24 hours after that before they could get the proof again. No liked a vindictive winner. And with that Morgan was Finished with the cave for now.
As Morgan was about to start working on the rest of the forest, they got a notice about something finishing. And then shortly after that another thing also finished. Morgan had forgotten those projects that they started but they were glad they finished when they did as both were going to be quite important to what needed to be done for the town. So Morgan left the forest area and put their effort on the inn and eatery.
