As Anne and Nina went their separate ways for the time being, the three girls became the primary guardians of Janken City. They didn't know it, but their shadowy presence loomed over the city.
Nobody was aware of their effect, but more Night Demons began to flock towards the city from all across the world as if attracted to the aura of those three. Jack, Mary, and Yune continued to hunt Night Demons along with looking for clues on Annie's whereabouts unhindered. But as they stayed, their presence stuck itself to the city like glue.
As more Night Demons immigrated into the crowded Janken City, that inevitably brought more Light Guardians as well. The troubles that the three girls had about to become even bigger as the number of Night Demons and Light Guardians grew within such a already crowded city.
And even worse than all of that was the return of an enemy that wasn't seen in centuries. A creature that made both the light and the dark quake.
Graverobbers and ancient tomb raiders have been looting a burial site far from civilization. The tomb of an unmarked grave. But there were rumors of hidden treasures beneath it. They explored it ignoring all of the ancient warnings. Pictures of terrible monsters consuming everything. Repeated hieroglyphs of hands and eyes. Serpent-like arms reaching to all sides. The catacombs itself looked like they were inside a rib-cage.

As they dug to find ancient catacombs and treasures, they instead stumbled upon something that was thought to be long dead by both the light and dark. They came upon a small decorated chest hidden very beneath at the bottom of the unnamed tomb. So far down that no light would even penetrate through. The ancient rocks were moist. There were no treasures except for that box. How it came there was a mystery, but the graverobbers were eager to find any semblance of treasure. And without thinking, they opened the small chest to not be greeted by shiny gold coins or trinkets. But instead a black heart with a metal rod through it.
"What is this? What a disappointment," one of the robbers exclaimed hoping to get rich.
"Hang on. It might still be worth something," another said.
"This heart? Maybe. It can't be a real one otherwise it would have been eaten by bugs by now."
One of them took out the metal rod, and he jumped back dropping the box on the ground.
"What - What are you doing!?" one exclaimed as the box hit the ground, "Don't damage it! It's still a priceless artifact."
"I thought I saw the heart move. It looked like it made a beat. I even heard it," he said frightened.
"Don't be stupid. Pick up the box and make sure you didn't break it. I'm sure I can find some rich fellah who might want it."
The graverobber slowly picked it up and opened the box. However, there was nothing there.
"Huh!? Where did it go!?" he exclaimed.
"You lost it? Idiot!"
They tried to look in the dark and dank tomb. Their torches were the only thing that brightened the room, but it was not enough. Then, one of them saw it. The heart was on the floor near where they came in from.
"Oh. Here it is. Must have rolled out," he said as he reached his hands over to grab it, "Hey, guys! I found it!"
Then, without any sign... lub dub.
