Jack arrived quickly back to the dark gloomy house they called home.
She crashed the car into the fence in front of the house and parked it there. Jack ran into the house to find Yune and Mary. The rain had disappeared and the sun was coming back. The school day had already ended for an hour already, so she thought that they would both be back at home.
As soon as Jack came through the front door, she only noticed Yune microwaving some leftover food for herself.
"Huh?" Yune exclaimed.
"Hey, I'm back," Jack replied.
"You came back?" Yune said as tear began to flow out, "I'm so glad."
"Please don't cry. I'm not good in these situations," Jack said, but Yune came and hugged her, "Please stop."
"I can't stop. I thought we were all going to go out separate ways. For some reason, I just couldn't stand that idea," Yune said.
She let go of Jack and wiped away her tears.
"I'm only back because I've found a big hint to what I'm looking for," Jack said but noticed that Mary wasn't there, "Wait a second. Where's Mary? She should hear this, too. Unfortunately, I could also use her help. Not many places to actually go for help for people like us."
Stolen story; please report.
"I don't know. Mary should have come back by now, but I thought she just needed some time to walk off the argument you two had."
"I didn't like what she did, but we can argue about it another time."
"We should go look for her. It'll get dark soon."
Jack nodded in agreement.
"Any idea where to find her?," a young voice asked in the shadows.
Jack and Yune both looked over and recognized the voice of a young boy.
It was Hades. He flew in from the sides and landed on top of the table.
"Hades, if you know where she is, you would tell us, right?" Yune asked.
"Of course I do. I know where all of you are at all times."
"What!?" Jack exclaimed.
"Please don't get surprised. You should be more worried about Mary than about what I know and don't know," Hades said.
Upon hearing this, Jack and Yune both felt a chill, but it wasn't from a Night Demon. Their markings glowed black shrouding their entire arm. Yune's mark of the cat. Jack's mark of the snake. They were being drawn towards Mary's own pain. Her frustration. Her anger. And especially her isolation. They felt it all. They felt a part of themselves beginning to rip. The sensation wasn't painful, but it carried a strong enough shock to both Jack and Yune.
"What did you do?" Jack said in a threatening manner.
"I did nothing. But Mary's in deep trouble. Not sure how long she'll last."
"Stop wasting time and tell us where she is," Yune said.
"She's near the back of the school."
As soon as they heard that, Jack and Yune hurried outside. They transformed into their Night Guardian forms and dashed away. Hades quickly followed them without any trouble.
Jack had no desire to help Mary, but knew that she would be helpful. Her powers would suit Jack's needs very well, and she had to take advantage of it if she wanted to find Annie.
Meanwhile, Yune really did care about Mary. Yune cared more about either of them than her own well-being, but this feeling felt misplaced as her memories still hadn't sprung up. Still, there was no hesitation. She would help either of them even if she didn't know why.
