Chapter 15: The Wave of the Crowd

The school day ended without any problems. It was a very boring day for the three, but they knew what they were about to do. Before the class day actually finished, each one of them left five minutes early, so that they wouldn't miss the three Light Guardians from leaving.

They were also very surprised that they all had the same idea as they stood around in the corner of the exit waiting for the school bell to ring.

"So," Jack asked to start a bit of small talk, "what excuse did you give to leave early? I asked to go see the nurse."

"I asked the teacher to also see the nurse," Yune said.

Mary kept quiet. "What about you, Mary?," Jack asked.

"Me? Oh, I just left. Didn't say a word," Mary replied.

Jack laughed, "Nobody tried to stop you. And you just walked out without saying anything. Hah!"

Even Yune chuckled a bit.

"What's so funny? The teacher was writing something on the board. So, I just walked up and left. I don't think anybody noticed," Mary said.

And when the school bell rang, students bustled the hallways.

The three overheard one of the group of boys say, "Hey. Did you see that girl who just left the class without saying anything? That was so cool."

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

"Huh? I guess they did notice," Mary commented to the other two girls.

"Yeah," another one of the boys said to his friend without noticing the girl, "It's too bad the teacher plans to give that girl a detention. She was so cool walking out like that."

"What!?" Mary exclaimed, "The teacher said I'm getting another detention?"

"Hey, it's you. I thought you would have went home by now," one of the boys said who noticed her and then walked away.

"Well, I don't see those three, yet. Hopefully, we'll be able to notice them in this crowd," Jack said.

"I doubt it," Yune mentioned, "Let's go up to the rooftop and see if we can find them from a bird's eye view."

Jack, Yune, and Mary all tried to go through the crowds as each one struggled to fight the oncoming horde of kids. It felt like fighting upwards against a waterfall.

However, during their hard trek, somebody grabbed Mary's arm. She looked over and saw her teacher.

"Well, well, well. Seems you're still here," the teacher said.

"Sorry, teach, but I got to go," Mary said.

The teacher dragged Mary away from Jack and Yune who were worrying about their own trouble of getting through.

Then, Mary looked at the teacher with eyes of purple. She stared at him with intense anger and ordered him, "Let go of my arm." A new power swelled up inside of her that she had no idea of.

The teacher wasn't frightened, but his mind fell asleep for a moment. He had no control over himself and let Mary's arm go as if he was hypnotized.

"Oh. Thanks, teacher," Mary said relaxed and then she went back to fighting against the crowd.

He was frozen for a bit. But he felt nothing. His mind was empty, but then as if something clicked inside of him, he woke up.

He looked at his hand and wondered where that girl went, but even he just wanted to get home.

The three made it to the top of the school roof and looked around. They looked and looked, and eventually they noticed three girls happily walking away from the school gate.

Mary, Jack, and Yune transformed themselves and went off into the shadows to follow them.
