6. Night’s Not Over

6. Night’s Not Over

“Could you drive a little…. Slower.” Levi asked in his usual monotone way while

still holding his head in his hands. Rachel was taking turns so fast that you’d think she

was trying to get the car on 2 wheels and every time she braked it was like someone was

dropping a brick on the brake pedal.

“What, you don’t like your rides a little rougher?” Rachel asked in what was supposed to be a seductive tone, but just made Levi want to

throw up even more.

“Not when I’m feeling like this, how much further is your place?”

“Not far. So just relax and enjoy the ride.” Rachel put her hand on Levi’s leg, at first he didn’t notice until she started moving it up. At which point he jumped as if he had

just been stung by a bee.

“Can you not.” He said in a mildly uncomfortable tone, trying to prevent things from progressing further.

“I said just relax and enjoy. Okay, Levi?” She grabbed him and Levi had more than enough. He grabbed her wrist and threw it away.

“Pull over.”

“Oh, so you want to skip straight to the fun part?” Rachel said in a way that made

it seem like she was just choosing to not acknowledge that there’s a man in this town who

didn’t want to sleep with her. She tried to put her hand back onto Levi’s leg as she pulled

the car off to the side of the road. But the second that the car stopped, he was out the

door. “What the hell, where are you going?!” She yelled with an overwhelming confusion.

Levi closed the door behind him and muttered to himself. “Far away from you.”

He began walking down the side of the road, he recognized the area and knew where to

go in order to get home.

After he took a few steps, Rachel pulled up beside him and shouted, “You really are just a Drunken Freak!” Then she drove off.

Levi just took a deep breath and continued making his way home, back to his warm apartment and left-over tacos

from the other night.

An hour passed and Levi scrambled through his pocket for his key, then unlocked

the door and stumbled through it. Hunched over, he walked to the kitchen and grabbed

the tacos from his fridge then tossed them in the microwave.

As they heated up, Levi pulled a bottle of gin from the top of his fridge and took a swig. By the time he recapped

the bottle and put it back, his food was done and the microwave was beeping.

He grabbed the hot plate from the microwave and scarfed down the food. He wasn’t that hungry, but

he loved the taste of them. After finishing his food, he took another swig and went off to

bed.

Luckily he didn’t work tomorrow so there was no need to set an alarm. He never

concerned himself about the next day, as long as he had money for food and drinks along

with a roof over his head, he was good. Levi tried to fall asleep, but his mind began to

race. Memories of the past overtook his mind.
