Levi’s eyes were bloodshot from another sleepless night as the sun rose, Alice
was still sound asleep in her bed. ‘I really need a drink.’ Levi thought to himself as he got
up off the couch. He decided now would be an appropriate time to leave Alice’s and head
home. He put his boots on and started his walk home.
As he walked, he texted Alice
“Thanks for letting me stay the night at your place, I’m heading home to shower and get
ready before work later.”
Alice’s phone rang out waking her up. The notification woke her up and she
grabbed her phone, squinting as she read the text from Levi. She felt some
disappointment that Levi had decided to leave before she woke up, it was 7am, her and
Levi didn’t have to be to work until later that afternoon. She wondered what made him
want to rush out of there so soon. She decided that she’d ask him later when she picked
him up. For now, she wanted to get some more sleep before having to be up all night at
work.
Levi unlocked the door to his place and walked inside while kicking off his boots.
The walk home would’ve worked up a sweat if it wasn’t so cold outside. He decided the

room that was a hand-me-down from his boss Alex. While sipping his gin Levi pulled out

decided this show about British gangsters seemed cool, so he started it up.
Time flew as Levi poured a few more glasses of gin while watching his new
favorite show. While he was pouring another glass, his phone started to ring, he walked
over and answered “Hello?”
“Hey Levi! I’ll be over to pick you up in a minute.”
“Damn, I didn’t realize what time it was. Alright, thanks. See you soon.” Levi
hung-up the phone and took a quick shower then went outside to meet Alice in her car.
“Hey, you actually look like you got cleaned up for work today.” Alice said to
him.
“Yeah, I decided to take your advice and not show up smelling like the alley way
of a bar.” As Levi spoke Alice’s face changed to a more surprised expression. “What’s
that look for?”
“Have you been drinking?” Alice’s tone was a bit more serious now.
“Just a few drinks, why?”
“Levi, seriously, is this why you left earlier?”
“Maybe, why’s it’s matter?”
Alice rolled her eyes, “Whatever, I’m not gonna tell you how to live your life.”
“Um okay...” After Levi’s words, the rest of the ride to work was filled with
silence.
Levi didn’t get why Alice cared so much and Alice didn’t get how Levi could
keep going between a nice guy to a drunk.
