Levi came out of his home in a fresh set of clothes and he had cleaned up of all
the blood that covered him. He got back into the car with Alice and the 2 went back to
her house, where they spent the night unwinding on the couch watching movies again.
The night provided them some much needed peace and relaxation, not just from the fight
earlier that day, but some relaxation after a pretty busy work week.
As they laid on the couch, Alice looked over to Levi “Sooo do you want to stay
the night again and we can go pick out your TV tomorrow?”
Levi yawned, “Yeah, that sounds good to me.”
They finished the movie in silence and then Alice retired to her room, while Levi
stayed on the couch. Before Alice went to bed, she decided to document this day in her
journal and emphasized how much Levi was giving her a sense of comfortably and
safety. Even Levi was beginning to feel comfortable around Alice, which was a first for
him. As the night went on, Alive was fast asleep and Levi decided it was time to let go.
He steadied his breathing, trying his best to calm his mind and fall asleep. Slowly, but
surely it started to work. He silenced that paranoid voice in his head and distracted
himself from memories of the past by focusing on the present.
Alice’s alarm clock rung out waking her up, the sunlight wad shining into her
room. She shut off her alarm, got up to meet Levi in the living room. Before she said
good morning, she was stopped by the realization that Levi was still fast asleep. She
instead went into the kitchen and did her beat to make breakfast quietly as possible
without waking Levi who was still snoring on the couch.
When she was done, Alice laid out the food on the table and walked over to the
couch where Levi was still asleep. She sat down on the armrest beside his head and did
her best to quietly wake him. “Levi…Leeevi. Psst wakeup.”
Levi continued snoring, so she put her hand on his shoulder and gently shook him.
“C’mon, getup. I made pancakes.”
His eyes finally opened and he let out a groggy “Hey, what’s up.” He then sat up
and Alice told him about the food she had prepared for them.
He got up and followed Alice over to the table. Levi looked at the food in front of
him “Wow you really went all out.” Alice had made eggs, bacon, and pancakes.
“Yeah, I figured I might as well. I don’t really ever have company.” She started
eating and so did Levi.

“I’ve never had anyone cook for me before, besides at like restaurants.” Levi said
as he enjoyed his food.
“Wait, really?” Alice was amazed, it was the complete opposite for her growing
up.
“I don’t ever cook for myself.” Levi enjoyed his first home cooked meal with
every bite he took.
“You should, it’s a lot cheaper than going out all the time.” Alice’s Mom would
tell her the same thing all the time.
“Eh I don’t really have anything else to spend money on, I live kind of simply.”
Even with eating out all the time, Levi had saved up a decent amount of money.
“I figured that part out when I learned you didn’t even have a phone.” She
laughed.
“Where did you learn to cook anyways?” Levi asked her.
“My mom, when I was younger, she would cook all the time and I’d help her in
the kitchen. Eventually she stopped cooking altogether and just left it to the maids.”
“Wait, you had maids?”
“Yeah, my dad…” Alice stopped eating, for a brief moment as her bad memories
overtook the good ones and it was making her lose her appetite.
Levi looked over to Alice who had stopped eating and was staring at her plate
with her forking in her hand. “You alright?”
Alice snapped back to reality and shook her head, “Yeah, sorry. I just spaced out
for a second. Anyways, my dad was a pretty important guy and insisted on us living an
above average lifestyle. That led to my mom becoming pretty busy too, always out and
about. Not really being around all that much when we got all the extra help at home.”
Levi could tell family was a sensitive subject for her too. “Where are your parents
now?”
Alice hesitated before answering “My dad’s not around anymore and my mom is
still in my hometown. You said you didn’t know yours, right?”
Levi decided it was only fair that he answered her questions since she was
answering his. “Yeah, I have no clue who they are. I had an accident a while ago and I
have no memories before the past like 3 years of my life.”
Alice got wide-eyed “Oh my god, I’m so sorry. What happened?”
“This big hurricane from what I remember and next thing I knew I was in the
hospital as a John Doe.” Levi said this very nonchalantly.
“So where did the name Levi come from?” Alice’s curiosity grew the more she
spoke with Levi and learned of his mysterious background.
This was the first time Levi had talked to anyone about his past and decided it
would be best if he left out certain details. “One of the nurses said I looked like a Levi,
and it stuck.”
Alice was excited to learn more about Levi’s past. “Have you ever tried to look
into who you actually are?”
“Nope, I met some people who knew a few things about me and decided it was
best to leave my past as a forgotten memory.” Levi had decided it was best to leave some
stones unturned.
“What do you mean?” Alice wanted to know what Levi found out about himself.
“Maybe one day we’ll talk more about it, but for now is it okay if we don’t talk
about it?” Levi finished the last of his food and got up to clean his dished in the sink.
Alice went back to eating and said “Yeah, that’s fine. I have somethings too that
I’m kind of sensitive to tell anyone too.”
“Cool, thanks for understanding. Is there more you can tell me about yourself that
isn’t such a sensitive topic though? I’m enjoying getting to know more about you.”
Alice smiled and agreed, she told him about all the sports she played in school
and all the happier times in her life, when she still felt normal.
