It had been a week since the accusations about Lexi’s father’s involvement in the
missing person’s case of the Clark girl and money laundering had been made public. Lexi
had tears streaming down her face while she was in a shouting match with her dad in the
living room, his face was so red that it seemed like that’s where all of his blood had been
stored there. Meanwhile her mom was passed out drunk on the couch for about an hour.
“It’s a simple question, did you do it?!” Lexi screamed.
“Go to bed Lexi! This situation is too complicated for you to understand!” Her
father shouted while waving his finger in her face.
“Why can’t you just answer me? I can’t even go to school now and all my friends
are texting me, harassing me and calling you a psychopath!” Lexi had been having this
argument with her father every night since the news broke and she was about to give up
on trying to learn the truth from him.
He put his face in his hands and took a few deep breaths, then looked his daughter
in the eyes. “Honey, you’re too young to understand now but everything I’ve done is to
make sure that the town you grow up in is safe and people like us are successful.”
Lexi was dumbfounded at what she was hearing from her own Father, a man she
had always respected and idolized up until now. “What do you mean?” she asked,
afraid of what he would say.
He put his hand on her shoulder “I know what I’m about to say might feel wrong
to you, but that’s because of the soft society you kids have been raised in and all these
different ‘perspectives’ you see online all the time. You see honey there are people who
want to see us out of places of power and struggling, but people like me and a few others
keep that from happening by maintaining a steady circle of likeminded people who are in
places of power or even common working men.”
“Dad please tell me you’re not saying what I think you’re saying.” Lexi’s eyes
were wide and filling with hate for the man she was beginning to reject as her father.
Her father began to lead her up the stairs and into his bedroom. “It’s time for you to know
about our family history, Lexi. You see your great grandfather fought in the civil war to
defend our way of life. Then he helped found a group that would defend that way of life
in our town when our government was too weak to standup for its people.” He then
swung open his closet door and opened a trunk that was inside.
When Lexi saw the white costume inside the trunk along with a folded confederate flag, her entire perception of her
family was turned upside down.

Her father was talking but this entire revelation had put Lexi in a state of shock,
her eyes were glued to the contents of the trunk and the only sound she heard was the
ringing in her ears. Before her father could finish talking about his flawed world views
and corrupt Lexi's family view even more, she ran out of the house and into the dark. She
ran so fast and far making sure that when she stopped that her twisted home was no
longer in view. She began making her way to her friend Amanda’s house to stay there for
the night, she just needed to get out of that house before she went insane. Lexi pulled out
her phone and called Amanda. She picked up but Lexi was unable to speak.
“Lexi! Oh my god are you okay? I’ve been trying to get a hold of you all week.
You know I’m here for you.” Amanda spoke with so much sincerity that Lexi began to
cry.
“Can I stay at your house for a while, I just can’t be home.”
“Of course, you know my mom loves you. Do you need us to come get you?”
“No, I’m a few blocks away. I should be there in a few minutes.”
“Lexi are you walking here, what if someone sees you?! There is a witch-hunt for
you and your family, you need to hide or something. Well come get you, just text me
your location.” Amanda began to panic and the fear in her voice was scaring Lexi.
“Okay, I’ll send- “Lexi was cut off by the honking of a pickup truck behind her.
The truck flashed the high beams at her. Lexi could vaguely make-out the dark shapes of
6 masked men in all black, 4 in the truck bed, 1 driver, and 1 passenger. “That’s her!” 1
of the men yelled.
“Oh god.” Lexi said, her voice was trembling and her heart began to race, she
started to run towards Amanda’s house which was still a block away. The truck began to
rev its’ engine, all the men yelling and cheering as they chased down the terrified young
woman.
“Lexi!” Amanda was shouting on the other end of the line. Lexi tripped on a curb
in the dark and dropped her phone. She left it behind and kept running as she heard the
truck getting closer along with the men shouting.
Lexi made her way to the end of the sidewalk, about to cross the street and get
that much closer to safety. But the dark pickup truck with the masked men swerved in
front of her and blocked the road. Lexi became paralyzed with fear as the men flooded
out of the truck and surrounded her. She tried to fight against them but stood no chance
due to the size of some of the men and the fact that it was 6 to 1. The men carried Lexi
into the bed of the truck as she tried to fight them off with every ounce of muscle she had.
But it was no use. The truck began to drive off and she was screaming for help, Lexi
couldn’t even recognize her own voice as she screamed with fear. Knowing that she was
about to be killed…. Or worse.
“Shut the racist bitch up” The driver said, looking back to the group of men
holding Lexi down in the back.
One of the men placed his hand over Lexi’s screaming mouth and she promptly bit him, completely severing of a meaty chunk of his palm.
The man began screaming as his hand began spraying blood everywhere. Lexi spit the
chunk of meat of her mouth and began to gag at the realization of what she had just done
and then started to choke on the blood that had spilled into her mouth. The man with the
bleeding hand was being wrapped up with a dirty bandana as Lexi sat there choking on
his blood. “Well that’s one way to shut her up, just make sure she doesn’t die. We’re not
far now.” The driver said in a terrifyingly calm voice.
