89.Relocating

After settling breakfast, we began discussing the next course of action. First and foremost, we needed to address the issue of food. Additionally, we had to stay vigilant against possible retaliation from Hu Yijian and his group, especially after I dealt with Li Xulong's issue yesterday. Moreover, our initial plan must not change; we had to continue working on building the bamboo raft and strive to leave this deserted island as soon as possible.

"I carefully considered it last night, and for the sake of our safety, I think we should move, leave this cave," I proposed during the meeting.

"Leave here? Xiao Wei, are you serious?" Li Lin exclaimed, clearly reluctant.

"Yeah, Xiao Wei, we've been managing here for so long. Are we just going to move?" Su Jie also expressed her confusion.

Xu Xiaorong and Peggy remained silent, just observing me.

I smiled wryly, "I don't want to leave either, but as you all know, living here, both Hu Yijian and Qianyi are aware of our location. If they intentionally cause trouble, it will be troublesome. It's disadvantageous when the enemy is in the dark, and we are in the light. In fact, I wanted to move last night, but it was already dark, and there was no way."

Listening to my words, Li Lin wanted to say something more. Su Jie, however, nodded decisively and took a deep breath, "Then let's move! That guy Hu Yijian made us suffer so much. When we catch him, I'll make him regret it!"

I, too, held back my anger. Although Hu Yijian wasn't very capable, he was adept at scheming in the shadows. During our time in the cave, he often played tricks, nearly causing me harm. Now that he had a team outside, he definitely wouldn't accept defeat easily. It was better to leave before being targeted.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

"Fine, let's move. But where should we go?" Xu Xiaorong said with a troubled expression.

"I lived in a cave before, and the environment was good, just too small for all of us." Peggy pondered with a wrinkled brow. "If we look for a new place now, we won't be able to move today."

Hearing their concerns, I calmly smiled, "No need to worry; I've already chosen a place!" Last time, when Hu Yijian pushed me into a hole, I came out of a cave. I thought that cave was suitable, nestled in a mountain recess, surrounded by vines, a very secluded spot. The only issue was that there were a few skeletons inside that needed cleaning up. I immediately took a few girls to check it out.

"The cave is spacious, even better than our previous one. It's just... a bit eerie." Li Lin looked at the piles of bones on the ground, feeling a bit scared. She even held onto the hem of my clothes and dared not approach the bones.

"This place is indeed good. The nearby vegetation is lush, so there are probably many snakes and insects; we need to be careful." Su Jie offered her opinion.

"We do need to be cautious. Later, I'll find some reed stalks, burn them, and sprinkle some snake repellent around..." I nodded, taking the initiative to clean up the skeletons and bury them by the nearby stream.

Our property was almost entirely stolen by Hu Yijian and Qianyi, making relocation quick and easy, with only a few stacks of straw left. As for the makeshift stove, we had to abandon it, but it was just a pile of mud, not too regrettable. As long as I was alive, making another one was simple.

However, cleaning the cave took quite some time. Numerous vines had grown inside, and we had only four tools to clear them: a Japanese katana, an entrenching shovel, a fire axe, and a stone axe I crafted. Initially, I made two stone axes, but one was left in the cave, taken by Qianyi and the others. The stone axe I made might not be as durable as the fire axe, but in terms of sharpness, it was no worse.

The four of us worked from morning till afternoon, finally clearing the cave. After removing most of the vines and stones inside, we were surprised when we saw the ground.
