137.Sleeping Outdoors

Black Spice Girl and Du Feng, among others, were initially stranded on the island's east side. They rescued Hu Yijian after he fell from the eastern high mountain. The environment there seemed suitable for survival, and they hadn't encountered natives in that area before. Crucially, the northeast direction was opposite to the path the natives took, which worked to our advantage.

Of course, we couldn't be certain whether that area was free of natives, but compared to where we were, which was already inhabited by them, moving there seemed like a safer option. Time was of the essence because the natives might be searching for us from the northwest direction. We immediately packed essential supplies and began our second move.

This time, we couldn't leisurely relocate as we did last time; we had to leave behind some valuable items like bamboo products. We only took animal hides and some cured meat. While being vigilant against wild animals, we ventured deeper into the jungle.

The process was arduous, and we walked from morning until it was almost dark. The girls looked exhausted and suggested resting multiple times, but I didn't agree because the natives could find us at any moment, and we couldn't afford to be careless.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"Xiao Wei, it's getting dark. Let's rest for a bit and find a place to spend the night!" Su Jie suddenly approached me.

I nodded, "Don't worry, I have some ideas. Let's eat something first, and then find a nearby place to stay overnight. If we can't find one, we'll camp in the open."

"Camping in the open?" Xu Xiao Rong's face turned somewhat pale at the thought. The area we were in was a relatively dense jungle, likely filled with insects, and it got cold at night. Spending the night here would be uncomfortable. The other girls also wore worried expressions.

I smiled, "Don't worry; I have a plan. You won't be cold tonight." After hearing my assurance, they reluctantly nodded.

Soon, the sky darkened. Unfortunately, we didn't find a place to spend the night. In the end, I had to explain the plan I had prepared in advance. We found a slightly open grassy area and constructed a makeshift shelter with branches, covering it with various leaves and animal hides. It served both as rain protection and insulation.

For the ground, I gathered some dry moss and placed animal hides on top to prevent the loss of body heat to the ground. Near the shelter, I also sprinkled some plant powder to repel insects, hoping for a relatively peaceful night. However, my idea of building a thatched shelter had a flaw – time was limited, and we could only build one. At night, we had to huddle together. Nevertheless, this also provided mutual warmth, making it not too bad overall.
