11.A lame excuse

Looking at Hu Yijian's confident appearance, the two women stared at him with anticipation, as if he had become the pillar of this place.

"Some people always give me a dirty look, thinking they can find food on their own. Today, I want him to understand that his so-called skills are insignificant!" Xu Xiaorong said loudly, glancing disdainfully at me.

"That's right, just catching a few crabs, let's see how amazing Brother Jian is!" Hu Yijian said smugly.

I sneered inwardly; if this guy had any real skills, he wouldn't have ended up starving yesterday.

Xu Xiaorong and Qianyi followed Hu Yijian to the beach to catch crabs, while I headed towards the dense forest.

I wanted to see if I could find a water source because I was already feeling thirsty.

Entering the jungle, I discovered that the trees grew densely, and many plants were unfamiliar to me.

I heard that the ecosystem on a deserted island, due to the lack of contact with the outside world, could result in the evolution of unique and peculiar species.

I walked cautiously through the jungle, alert to the possibility of encountering unknown creatures.

Today, my luck seemed to be good. Not far into the jungle, I saw a clear stream.

After walking for quite some time, I was thirstier than before, but I dared not drink directly from the stream.

Although the stream appeared clear, I couldn't be sure if it contained bacteria or parasites.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

However, that didn't stop me. I remembered there was a bamboo forest along the way.

I arrived at the bamboo forest and used a large rock to smash against some of the thinner bamboo stalks.

Without an axe, using a stone to smash was strenuous, but after about half an hour of effort, I finally managed to break a relatively thin bamboo stalk.

I cut the broken bamboo into small sections and scraped the edges with a military knife, creating several bamboo tubes.

I hastily built a fire near the stream, filled the bamboo tubes with stream water, and started boiling the water.

After about fifteen minutes, I picked up a few cups of hot water, drank it contentedly. The boiled water from the bamboo tubes had a fragrant and sweet taste, very refreshing.

I didn't leave but instead found some twigs, sharpened them with a knife, and tried to catch some fish in the stream.

On the mainland, there were rarely any places in the wild where streams still had fish. However, on this deserted island, the water was teeming with large and fat fish.

I caught seven or eight, thinking it should be enough to eat, then wrapped the fish in my clothes and walked towards the sea.

At this point, it had been two to three hours since I left the beach.

When I returned, I saw Xu Xiaorong and the others still busy on the beach.

I placed the fish and bamboo tubes on the ground and walked over.

"I'm back. How are you guys doing? Any harvest?" I asked indifferently.

The awkwardness on their faces was evident after hearing my question.

"We caught these." Xu Xiaorong, somewhat embarrassed, unfolded the clothes in her hands. Three to five small crabs, the size of thumbs, fell out, barely sufficient to fill the gaps in their teeth.

Just as I expected, Hu Yijian and Xu Xiaorong were indeed a pair of spoiled young masters who felt quite uncomfortable with the idea of catching crabs.

"You guys were so heroic, but all you got was this?" I said with a smile.

"You arrogant brat! If I hadn't just arrived, my hand might have been accidentally pinched by a crab. The crabs we caught today, you won't be able to finish eating them for days!" Hu Yijian glared at me, looking displeased and spoke with a dark tone.

I looked at his hand and almost burst into laughter. He kept pressing his thumb, and there seemed to be a two to three centimeter wound on it.

And this can be used as an excuse? This guy is truly useless.

I looked at him with disdain, not saying a word.
