As I approach the cliff, the vast blue sea lay apparent to me.
Its peaceful waves were crashing along the rocky sides of the mountain.
The warm wind was soothing and gave me a semblance of peace for a short moment.
But I know beneath the waves lies ferocious fiends capable of sinking the Titanic.
Sea Serpents,
These monsters differ in size with the biggest towering over the Empire state building.
But that guy won't appear until after the main protagonist finishes all the arcs with the heroines.
This is literally a leap of faith.
I earnestly prayed inside my heart.
Not to the damn gods inside this novel but the one I worshiped back in my original world.
I took a step back from the cliff.
Preparing myself to dive headfirst into the unknown.
I gulped the night-vision potion I bought, took one large breath, and ran like hell.
At the very last moment, I jumped with all of my strength.
*SPLASH*
The water enveloped my body.
I might not know how to swim but I know how to stay calm.
I slowly opened my eyes.
5 minutes that is how long I can hold my breath, if only I didn't smoke I would've lasted longer.
I have to find it quickly, an underwater barrier that surrounded that cave.
With the help of the night-vision potion, I could see the seabed more clearly.
20,
There were 20 serpents that I could see just swimming around the vast sea.
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
I started moving my legs behind me and used my hands to propel myself forward.
I do not know how to do it properly which made my pathetic attempt at swimming slow as hell.
But it what was I wanted as I do not want one of these fiends to notice me.
My eyes were rapidly scanning the area.
Trying to find any water that flowed strangely.
I then see from far away that a sea serpent was coming closer to me.
I hurriedly swam behind a rock to hide myself.
Thanks to the potion, I had the ability to spot them first as their eyes are still blocked by the darkness of the sea.
My heart was beating but I steeled my will.
As it approached, I could feel the water around me shiver.

6, seconds, it took that long just for it to pass me by.
I breathe a sigh of relief.
*GURGLE*
I immediately close it and cursed myself for forgetting I was under the damned sea.
I swam out of the rock and tried to look for the cave again.
2 minutes have passed by, and I still have no clue where that f*cking cave is.
I calmed myself once again, I have to think clearly.
My eyes were going red because of the water, it was painful but I have no intention of closing them.
I can't afford to waste any more time.
Another minute has passed by.
Despair was creeping into the back of my mind.
I shook it off instantly.
Distractions like that would waste more precious seconds.
My eyes were going blind as I look around me.
But then I thought of something.
I closed my eyes to ease the burning and stinging sensation.
I focused on my ears.
The silence of the sea was all that I could hear.
I persisted and listened.
But amidst the silence was a faint hum.
I swam towards it, not giving a sh*t anymore if a serpent sees me.
There was only a minute left of air in my lungs.
My mind was on the verge of passing out.
But my body still swam.
All my senses are focused on that faint hum.
It was getting louder.
It was getting nearer.
I opened my eyes and see a mile away from me a barrier stopping the water pass in through the cave.
My resolve was rejuvenated, and my pathetic attempt at swimming got faster.
But slowly, my lungs could not take the lack of air anymore.
I was passing out.
My vision was turning black.
But for my survival, I had to do it.
I bite my lips for the pain to wake me up.
My lips were bleeding.
I felt the water shiver from behind me.
The blood must have attracted a sea serpent.
I did not dare to look back and continued to move my pitiful body.
A bit more,
Just a little bit more,
Then my vision went white.
In that eternal whiteness, I saw my old golden retriever from afar.
A woman was petting her and was gesturing for me to come.
It was my grandma, she still had the same wrinkles, the same mole on her face, and the same stupid smile.
Wait, what?
I came back to my senses and swam even harder.
Sorry gran-gran I do not want to visit you for the time being.
Just by the skin of my teeth.
I got through.
As I fall through the barrier and land inside.
I started breathing heavily.
"F*ck that was close,"
I then remember the sea serpent.
I look back through the barrier and a snake the size of a bear with fins on the top of its scales were coming at me with tremendous speed.
I had no energy to run.
My legs could not move anymore and so I just sat there.
Contemplating my death.
I closed my eyes and turned my head away from it.
*CRASH*
