*BOOM*
The same reverberating sound was heard once again in a forest with trees as high that they could reach the sky.
As you got closer to the source of the sound.
A Dark-skinned young man on his knees was breathing heavily with bullet casings littered across the ground.
There was apparent fear in his eyes yet his will remained steadfast.
His sharp gaze was directed toward a being with fur as thick as that of metal with speed akin to a flash.
They were currently on a standoff, after a few rounds of fencing with each other.
Both were slowly succumbing to their wounds and desperately needed rest.
But the wolf's primal urge to devour its prey was stronger than the agony that it felt from the countless lead that its hide had to endure, and the man had a resolve inside of him burning extremely bright will all the intentions to survive.
The man clenched his entire body as the wolf prepared its hind legs for another attack to penetrate the innards of its prey.
This next round would determine who would win this fight.
Instinct vs Will.
Not a moment too soon, the wolf with all its strength pounced on the man.
The man stood firmly like a tree, not a muscle moved within his body but his mind was racing, waiting for the right moment to unleash a fistful of lead inside its mouth.
*BOOM*
Another deafening noise echoed throughout the once-quiet forest.
Yet there was still no victor to this fight.
At the last moment instead of opening its wide mouth to seek its fangs deep into the man's neck.
The wolf closed its eyes and shut its jaw, to let its hide block the bullets coming from the man's boomstick.
The man fell to the ground due to the sheer weight of the wolf.
The beast was now on top of the man, its eyes full of malice.
It started drooling heavily with excitement, it could not wait a single second for its fangs to slice the man's neck open.
its head moved quickly as lightning, but the man's burning resolve had not yet been extinguished.
With fast thinking he moved his body to the side, letting the wolf instead bite his shoulder.
The man grunted in pain, his armor was easily penetrated through the sharp teeths of the beast, but it was not useless as his bones were not reached.
He had no ability to think anymore his will was slowly fading as the wolf clenched his jaw harder.

Soon, something overtook the man.
It was no longer his resolve, will, or determination.
It was the instinct to survive no matter the cost.
The shotgun that he was using fell a few inches from him.
Through the immense pain and agony, he reached out his hand.
Soon his basic armor was completely penetrated through and the wolf fangs were now on his bones.
He screamed in the sheer torment that he was experiencing.
But he quickly composed himself, if he does not act quickly the wolf would soon be able to tear his right shoulder apart from his body.
His effort was not left betrayed as he finally was able to hold the handle of the gun.
He quickly aimed it at the side of the wolf's head.
The hide of the wolf might be thick but at such a close range.
*BOOM*
The sudden impact of the bullet made the wolf lose its grip on the man's shoulder and onto the ground.
It was dazed and its mind was still trying to figure out what happened.
The man did not waste a single second.
He quickly picked himself up and use his entire body to pin the wolf on the soil.
He placed his barrel right onto its mouth.
Finger on the trigger, no hesitation in his eyes.
*CLICK*
The man was visibly shocked.
He had forgotten that his double-barreled shotgun can only chamber two shells.
The wolf's eyes gazed onto the man seemingly mocking him, thinking that it already won.
But instead of despairing the man's resolve kicked in once again.
With all of his remaining strength, he shoved the shotgun right into its mouth.
The shotgun forced its way inside the esophagus of the vile beast.
The wolf wriggled like a fish out of a barrel.
And the man was sent to the side coughing up blood as he fell.
The wolf stood up trying its best to vomit and gag the shotgun out of his windpipe.
It wiggled, it shooked its entire body, it tried using its claws to tear it out, but alas, soon it lost its entire strength and fell once again to the ground.
They were sounds of light footsteps approaching the dying beast.
With its life slowly fading, the last thing the wolf ever saw was the sharp and unwavering eyes of the dark-skinned man.
********
I immediately drank a healing potion from my bracelet.
The pain was overwhelming but I had to fight through it.
I had to keep going because of the gunshot from the first wolf, more and more of these damned f*ckers are going to keep coming for me.
With the effect of the potions finally coursing throughout my body.
My shoulder on the verge of falling off was back to normal and my wounds were slowly disappearing.
I reached my hand inside the deceased wolf's mouth trying to grab my shotgun out of it.
After a few minutes of struggling I successfully managed to yank it out.
My shotgun had a terrible stench on it and was covered in saliva and other disgusting fluids.
I had to stop breathing for a while just because of the overwhelming smell.
But soon my nose got used to it.
As I picked myself up.
A shiver went down my body.
It seemed I have spent too much time trying to get my gun out of this f*ckers mouth.
I heard a howl behind me and as I turn my head to look.
A pack of forest wolves was staring at me.
Most of them had grey fur but some of them were donning blue.
F*ck me.
The adrenaline in my body kicked in and my body and mind were screaming a single word at me.
RUN
I immediately bolted but I know that in just a few minutes the wolves would be able to catch up to me.
And so, I had to take advantage of the dense trees.
I swerved and ran through the evergreen of the forest.
Hoping for them to lose track of me.
But then I look back to my hand and remembered the horrifying stench.
F*CK
With no possible way of hiding and losing them without throwing this gun away.
I inwardly curse.
I threw my shotgun worth 15k bells to the side and ran as fast as I could.
Within a few minutes of running and swerving through the trees.
It seemed throwing the shotgun was a good idea as now the pack of wolves was nowhere to be seen or heard.
I sat down beside a tree to gather some strength.
But now what?
I had no means to defend myself if I encounter another one of those damned dogs.
After contemplating whether or not to call the guards for help.
I felt it, a gust of wind.
It was a warm breeze, and I soon stood up and followed it.
through the bushes and trees.
The warm wind was getting stronger as I got closer.
And as soon as I got out of a thicket of grass.
What lay before me was a cliff overlooking the sea.
"I found it,"
