"Grandma... Grandma Adelaide! Hey! Are you okay? Should I take you back to rest?" Phyllia noticed the expression on the old woman's face and how shaken she became after seeing Aaron in person and wondered why was she so shocked after seeing it happen despite being already told about some of the boy's abilities.
Adelaide finally got a hold of her extremely turbulent state of emotion and looked towards her granddaughter then shook her head slowly before looking back towards the kid and leaning forward to give him a closer look before slowly and carefully extending her hand to touch his face while gasping as if she's finally truly believing that he's standing right there in front of her and that she's not losing her mind or imagining things which doesn't exist!
"Afrien... Is that really you?" The old woman asked while holding back tears in her murky eyes.
"That's it," Aaron rolled his eyes and leaned his upper-body backwards to escape Adelaide's weird touch and this weird moment which is full of weird emotions, "Who's this woman? Why's she acting like we know each other? Where did this "Afrien" name come from? What's going on here?" He looked towards Phyllia and Tess and kept questioning them while avoiding the the old woman's hand but she seemed to enjoy chasing his face with her fingers as if this is some sort of amusing game while smiling and even giggling like a little child.
Phyllia finally had enough of this unexpected situation and bear-hugged the old woman from behind then restricted her arms while saying : "Grandma. That's enough "Greeting" our guest! Hahaha... Young master Ron is our dear "Guest" remember?" Afterwards she looked towards one of the women standing behind her and ordered : "Veronica. Take grandma back to rest and give her some Dawn-Shade Dew to calm down, help her Freud."
Adelaide noticed that she was about to be forcefully evicted from the scene against her will, "No! It's been 170 years since I last seen Afrien! Let me spend some more time with my cousin you heartless dimwits!"
Everyone gawked speechlessly while the kid shook his head, "Wow! This old hag really lost all her marbles, but that's the least I'd expect from somebody who lived that long. I'm surprised she could even stand on two feet without needing assistance."
Afterwards he retrieved a cup of Strawberry and Banana's Jelly and gave it to the old woman who didn't even hesitate and accepted the gift immediately as if she's used to receiving gifts from the kid.
"Yummy! Thank you Afrien." Adelaide's murky eyes brightened and tears kept falling on her cheeks while eating the cool and soft Jelly then sat on the chair Aaron retrieved for her from his Inventory Space, she even patted him on the back of the hand while thanking him.
Everyone on the scene was looking at these two and feeling some kind of joyful-sweetness mixed with a bit of sour-sorry.
Because clearly this kid doesn't know this extremely old woman who keeps calling him by a completely different name but he still tolerated her and showed kindness which isn't something they're used to seeing around these areas, at least not from complete stranger which they already tried to attack a day earlier!
"This is my great-grandmother Adelaide," Phyllia said while gently looking at the old woman who's enjoying a cup of cool jelly early in the morning while basking in the soft sunlight of late autumn... A season which she has already weathered more than 170 times.
"She's the Great-Elder of our Village and the only member left alive after bearing witness to our days of glory back in our Ancestral-Land.
"More than a century and five decades ago she gathered the remaining members of our tribe and fled Allium-Desert while our ancestors stayed behind to cover their tracks and push the enemies away while they retreated to safety.
"The number of the survivors grew less and less during the following few years but grandma Adelaide never lost hope and forged a path of survival for our tribe, while my grandfather was out hunting in the Dark-Forest in a full-moon night he found a Tree unlike no other after getting chased by an opponent of a rivaling Village which we eradicated decades ago afterwards.
"There he found a Legendary Fruit which is famously sought by everybody since it gives the one to eat it great Longevity, the Grand-Elders of that time decided to reward it to grandma Adelaide because she's the only one carrying our true heritage and has the purest Bloodline among all of them."
Tess nodded and moved closer to the old woman and gave her a gentle hug while whispering thank you in her ear, Adelaide smiled and revealed her gums while making sure to hide her Jelly protectively!
Aaron wasn't really interested about the history of the tribe or anything but he was interested in the topic of Bloodlines though, which is why he said : "Yeah. I've heard about this fruit before, hell... I was even invited to a party which is going to go collect them sometime later.
This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
"But I'm not interested in it since I'm still too young to look for options to extend my lifespan which I refused their offer.
"However I'm more interested to know who attacked your tribe and why was I mistaken for somebody else by your great-grandmother?" He asked while giving the old woman a bottle of All-Cure Potion since she isn't in the right mental state where he can ask her anything.
Phyllia nodded because she agrees with this kid and also thinks he made the right decision, the place where her grandfather stumbled upon the Longevity Fruit is very deep within the Dark-Forest and in a location where lethal danger lurks almost every step of the way.
Thankfully he was extremely lucky and had the advantage of a full-moon that night and during that time of the month every member of their tribe enjoys maximum control over their Bloodline and could use their Berserk abilities to go on a rampage while actually knowing what they're doing.
Other times of the month they'd have to rely on drinking the special extract from the Blue-Bell Flowers to maintain the same control as full-moon nights while gaining much less power during their phase of going Berserk.
Of course there's also the restriction of how many times they can use the extract and the much more difficult restriction of actually exhausting themselves much quicker while relying on the extract instead of moonlight.
The most annoying restriction of course is the need to rely on planting Bell-Grass then collecting the flowers and creating enough extract to satisfy the need of their growing population!
Not to mention how it's harder for men to actually contain their rampaging impulses whenever they leave the borders of the Bell-Grass for too long, otherwise they'd be forced to keep drinking a lot of the extract to stay aware of what they're doing.
Which is why mostly women take care of business outside the Village while men stay within the safe zone where the Bell-Grass is growing in abundance and focus on protecting their territory, manufacturing the specialty-products of their Village, or go hunt and gather whatever they can in the Dark-Forest.
Phyllia answered while shaking her head : "I don't know why grandma Adelaide is acting like she knows you but I know about her cousin Afrien.
"Back in our Ancestral-Land our Moon-Berserkers tribe used to have this place called the "Totem-Hall" where a statue of our First-Ancestor is located right in the center where the Eternal-Flames burned to no end to guide the Souls of his descendants.
"Whoever awakens their Bloodline then survive the trial of our tribe and return from the Great-White Mountain of Allium-Desert after capturing a Lunar-Fox gets the honor of adding their statue in the Totem-Hall.
"He was a few years younger than grandma Adelaide but he was a person that was famously known for having more courage than anybody else in that generation.
"It's said that Afrien awakened his Bloodline at the age of 3 and learned how to control his Berserk Abilities a few months later then surprised everyone by controlling his rampaging impulses even longer than the old Shamans of our tribe without having to use the extract from Blue-Bell Flowers.
"At the age of 5 he applied to join the trial and entered the Great-White Mountain alone and actually passed with flying colors after returning with a litter worth of Lunar-Fox pups.
"His statue was the youngest Moon-Berserker to be included in the Totem-Hall and-"
"Envy and fear had others looking our way, they took young Afrien away from us... Took him young because they knew they stand no chance once he grows up! Bastards the whole lot of them! They stole our future and almost succeeded in ruining our past! But you... you're Afrien's Blood. I can feel it. I can smell it on you from the moment you arrived. I can... almost taste it in the air! Blood... Their blood. Their time has come! And you... you're the one spilling it for us. For the ones we lost."
Adelaide interrupted Phyllia and spoke as if possessed while looking towards Aaron, the look within her eyes made the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end.
"Who're they?" The kid asked while frowning and feeling his heart almost leaping out of his own chest.
The old woman answered : "Dark... Death." Afterwards she resumed eating her Jelly as if nothing in this creepy situation is going to stand between her toothless gums and this cool meal.
Adelaide even took off her shoes and enjoyed the touch from the Bell-Grass on the rough skin of her feet!
'Fuck! It just had to be a senile old windbag with all screws loose who has the answers to the most important question of them all huh.' Aaron thought before getting a hold of his own emotions.
Phyllia seemed worried that this boy's mood was disturbed by her great-grandmother's most dramatic story, "Young master Ron. Grandma Adelaide is... old. Please try and ignore what she just said."
"Never mind all that. Let's get this thing over with, where did you decide to have me transport the products?" The kid rolled his eyes as if to say : "Maybe you shouldn't have brought this old woman here in the first place! This shit was so fucked up you know that right?"
"Right over there young master Ron." Phyllia avoided eye-contact with the boy once she noticed his reaction but she really felt like laughing because even she was given a fright once her great-grandmother started speaking so seriously.
Aaron quickly linked this diagram with the ones at Reapers-Fort and the one in the balcony overlooking his backyard.
The people of the Village were watching in amazement as the kid, the four women, two men, and the Centipede entered that diagram and vanished from their Blue-Flowers Village before appearing on the other side and while the portal was active between these three locations they watched as Phyllia, Tess, and a few others gave using this mysterious method of transportation a try.
For the first time in their lives, the ones who tried using the Mystique-Door were able to visit three different Villages in the same day.
They felt like they're awesome in the truest sense of this meaning... Invincible!
Of course Aaron didn't linger long and took his group which were even more excited after trying the improved version of the Mystique-Door, Even Nina which is usually composed in normal situations was struggling to contain her smile but her emotions were visible to the rest because she was urging her Pet to go faster Southeast towards Black-Fog Village.
'Maybe I shouldn't have told this chick that I'd give her Apples, Oranges, a Lemon, and an Elixir! I bet she'd whip this Centipede to death if that poor thing didn't have an Exoskeleton.'
