While watching his soldiers barricade the Sublunary Portal and put one Mouse after another to sleep, Aaron made sure to stay close behind to support them whenever they seemed like they were having difficulties keep up.
Sometimes he'd use Lucid Nightmare to Stun some of the Mice to give the soldiers a chance to regroup whenever they're getting swarmed or directly push back the Mice with a Whirlwind which bursts right in the middle between his soldiers and the Beasts.
Other times he'd personally drag the unconscious Mice away from the battle whenever they're getting in the way or becoming an obstacle in the way of his soldiers.
But he never had to really intervene in the battle to pull any of them away from the battle because whenever things got really dangerous Heena, Lucy, or Nina would do something with their Soul-Techniques to stop said Mouse from delivering a lethal blow to any of the soldiers.
However, some of the soldiers still suffered wounds and gradually with time these minor wounds started to accumulate despite Self Recovery being in effect and the 3 beauties watching the battle kept wondering how could they still keep fighting under these circumstances for too long at the same pace without getting tired.
Finally Aaron looked around and decided that's enough after seeing his basement floor filled with a few thousands of unconscious Mice.
The kid closed the Portal and watched the soldiers finish dealing with the remaining Mice before saying : "Good job everyone," Then handed Baroq one wooden flask of Reindeer Milk, "Help the injured heal their wounds first before distributing one drop to every single one of them.
"Also make sure to notify their group leaders that I'm allowing each and every single one of them gets some rest tomorrow, but they can't skip the morning exercise." The oldest of the twins nodded before moving to do his task while Aaron looked towards Beryl and added : "Go inform Rhinne, Aeona, and Sherry to be prepared to transport these Mice to the 3 Villages right after their morning exercise."
"Yes young master." Beryl nodded before jumping over the Mice bodies then politely excusing himself once he reached the 3 Honorable Sisters while asking them to make way for him and ran up the stairs.
"Can we go back now? It stinks in here!" Lucy pinched her nose while giving the Mice scattered and piled everywhere a look of disgust.
The kid shook his head before gesturing at his back where the Portal is located, "I'm going in to exterminate all of them."
"Why? I thought your intentions were to make sure the supply of Mice meat never runs out!" Nina asked while looking at him straight in the eye with her blue eyes.
Heena nodded since that point was made clear enough by the boy early on when he spoke with the 3 Bandit Leaders.
"Three reasons," Aaron said before retrieving a container of Abyssal Extract, "The first one being is that I didn't have this while the second is that right now they're more useful to me when they're dead instead of being alive, as for the third... It's because I'm poor."
Lucy rolled her eyes and retorted : "What do you mean you're poor? You were poor 11 days ago when we took sister Snow away while now you have all this!"
*Snort*
The kid shook his head before changing his tone of voice which shifted from being serious into being easygoing and slightly tempting when it entered the ears of this airhead, "There's also something interesting inside the cave!"
*Humph*
"No there isn't. That place is dark, gloomy, cold, and empty. Not to mention that it stinks just like your stinky basement!" The beauty felt proud of herself since in her opinion she won this argument then took another swig of the Ale which made her feel even better.
Heena and Nina were starting to feel worry that this boy and their sister would buttheads once again.
Aaron smiled before shrugging while saying : "And here I was trying to bring you with me to have some fun, you're welcome to stay if you don't want to join. Here another bottle of Ginger Ale then, I don't want you to get bored while I'm gone."
Lucy squinted her eyes while raising her guard and didn't accept the bottle right away.
Nina smiled because even until now this sister of hers still doesn't seem like she knows what this kid is talking about.
But both herself and Heena actually understood what the boy meant once he said it, simply because both of them noticed it once they laid eyes on the object.
Every Fuzzy Phosphorous Mice inside that cave kept its distance from it while Nephrite and her Royal-Guards didn't dare fly anywhere close to it, all of these Beasts were clearly intimidated and more than wary of it!
Lucy hugged Paws to her chest and giggled once the little thing licked her neck which tickled her then asked doubtfully : "Is there really such a thing?"
Aaron nodded while answering : "I didn't think you'd have missed the Obsidian Monolith underneath the thicket of Erebus-Wood, that thing was huge!" Then gestured with his hands to convey its massive size.
*Snort*
"O-of course I didn't! Right sister Heena?" The beauty said while blushing before twisting her neck to look at her best friend and kept winking, despite her attempt to lie being completely obvious and a bit childish.
Everyone seeing it happen couldn't deny that it's too cute, adorable, and amusing.
Heena nodded while patting her shoulder, "It might've seemed like Lucy was enjoying the ride that time but she was actually paying attention to everything in her surroundings."
Lucy nodded while sticking her chest out and putting a hand on her waist she said : "That's right! That's exactly it! Lucy always pays attention!"
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
The kid nodded while thinking the same thing everyone in the basement was thinking : 'How shameless!' But he kept that thought to himself and looked at the soldiers which received their reward and said : "You guys are dismissed, you too Baroq."
The oldest of the twins hesitated for a moment before saying : "As you command." But he still nodded towards the 3 Whispering Sisters then added : "I leave young master Ron to you, keep him safe and all of us would always be grateful. Excuse me." Afterwards he followed the 50 soldiers all the way up to the metal gate then closed it shut.
"Let's go." Aaron said before opening the Portal then directly Teleported to the other side near the Obsidian Monolith which in the center of the massive cave before activating Emphatic Resonance and the 3 beauties followed.
Once they passed the Portal he closed it to prevent any of the Mice from passing to the other side.
This time the kid had to take an approach which he never attempted before when killing these Mice, simply because the environment itself is forcing him to do so.
Unlike before where he could unleash his supercharged Flame Orbs or the improved version of the Skill which he used to kill the Pharaoh Cicadas earlier, the resorted to his Physical Attacks instead of his Magical Attacks since he had to preserve the massive cave.
One of the most obvious reasons is the Obsidian Monolith while the other one is that he still needs his soldiers to collect the carcasses of these Mice afterwards.
The hidden reason is that he's planning to excavate the area and search for Gold since he happened to find some of it the first time he visited the cave with Sera.
'Earlier I thought the Staff Mastery Skill was tailor made for me to perform my Skills naturally while being at as much ease as possible, but it seems I was wrong!' Aaron thought while hitting the Mice and sending them flying one by one with each strike.
Sometimes he'd instinctively pinpoint a location on their bodies before delivering his hit, oftentimes he'd merely touch the Beasts seemingly gently or just push them aside with a little bit of force but the 3 women watching as it happened would be surprised to find the Mice receiving them flipping to their side either crippled or outright dead.
"Who would've thought that he'd be able to use such an advanced Technique!" Nina muttered while descending from the air to check the damage a Mouse has received.
"So noisy!" Lucy frowned at the Beast which was squealing from pain before putting it out of its misery with a simple glare.
"Do you think we should help him with the rest of them?" Heena asked while looking at the direction where the endless stream of Mice were pouring from the entrance of their burrows, "There's no end to them!"
The team leader looked at the kid which was too focused on his battle and despite her little experience when it comes to judging how far his rank would be among melee compatants she still could tell that he's improving his hand-to-hand Techniques, 'His footwork is becoming much more fluid and is no longer rhythmic and predictable whenever he's going to Attack, Defend, or Dodge!' Nina thought before shaking her head then flying up while answering : "No. Let him deal with it, we only intervene when there's a risk to his life or when he asks for it."
Lucy shrugged once she saw her best friend frown before gesturing with her chin and saying : "Can't you see that little Ron is having fun?"
Heena looked and noticed that she actually missed such a detail before shaking her head and flying up next to Nina while saying : "Yeah. How silly of me right?"
Her sister pointed at the boy, "Just look, he even has the time to put food in his mouth during the battle. Of course he's taking things lightly against these weak Beasts!"
Nina nodded before looking up at the ceiling of the cave while saying : "That's probably the main reason he's taking it easy."
Heena understood what her sister meant and felt a cold shiver down her spine once she realized it before giving the kid a gratified look and no longer wished for the situation to change!
"Earth Walls." Suddenly Aaron hit the butt of his Sapphire Staff against the ground and a few layers of tall and thick earthen walls separated the area where his battle took place from the exit of the Mice burrows in some sort of complicated maze which encompassed half the massive cave.
"I never expected that there'd be so much of these Mice but that's a good sign." Aaron said while thinking : 'I've gained another Level and I want to keep going but my body is no longer demanding nutritions, it's screaming for some rest instead.' Then he started collecting the Mice carcasses and storing as much as possible of them into his Inventory Space before opening the Portal and going back to his basement and from there he actually left towards Reapers-Fort.
There he asked the Marshal to provide him with an area which is spacious, enclosed like a room, and private where he could create a refrigerator and store the Mice carcasses until Cesar's people get a chance to operate on them whenever they're ready.
Of course Strategist Dalair, Tana, and the rest of intellectuals within the Marsha's living quarters were extremely excited after hearing about the benefits of this so-called refrigerator from the kid and immediately provided him with three of their storage areas which they usually use to store granary and other types of provisions for their large army.
Poor Aaron was already exhausted and in an immediate need for sleep but he ended up working for almost 40 Minutes afterwards, he also ended up with his skin being coated in a Pitch-Black layer after using the Abyssal Extract to paint the walls of each refrigerator area before making a few trips to the massive cave to retrieve every single Mouse carcass.
"I'm done here, you guys should be more than capable of taking care of the rest." Aaron waved goodbye to Marshal Cesar, Strategist Dalair, and First-Lieutenant Carson before Teleporting away and leaving the passage underneath Reapers-Fort where the storage area is located.
Cesar looked around him to confirm that the kid actually left and waited for a short while before looking at Carson and asking him : "Have you tested if it actually works?"
The man saluted before saying : "Yes General," Then he turned and pushed the wooden door open which revealed the black walls inside and the neatly stacked rows of Mice carcasses inside, "As you can see here, the other two storage areas are the same like this one." Afterwards he pulled a sharp dagger from his waist then slashed one Mouse across the throat and pulled its head backwards to spread the wound while stepping aside for the two old men to be able to see the current state of its innards which were frozen solid.
*Sigh*
Dalair released a sigh of relief while saying : "Judging by the thick smell of blood on his body, I wouldn't be surprised if he killed all of these Mice by himself! You heading West to bully old fox Peter was probably your best accomplishment for a long while now."
Cesar shook his head while smiling helplessly before saying : "I'd never done such a reckless thing if I had the faintest of ideas about what I'm up against."
*Cough*
The Strategist felt the sting on his face once he felt the hidden slap verbally strike against his pride but he didn't dare retort because it was indeed his mistake for not being aware when there's such a dangerous threat which was standing right behind them.
"Thankfully we were never considered as even being anywhere near being the sort of a threat to the kid, otherwise me and Carson would be already dead and you'd be rotting in these dungeons." The Marshal said while leaving the passage.
"Yeah. I bet these traitors would have danced all night while getting themselves drunk after hearing these news!" Dalair said when they passed the dungeons.
"What should we do with them?" Carson asked when the topic was mentioned.
"The ones we have left are the ones who were forced by the circumstances, they either had their families taken as hostages but they still need to be punished for insubordination!" Cesar said before asking : "What do you recommend we do with them?" He asked his Strategist.
"Take them to the kid's Village!" Dalair immediately answered before adding : "Have them help with the work of building Peter's walls, we get to do that old geezer a solid while helping the boy live in peace while being surrounded by a stable and safe environment."
"Not to mention that the food over there is... Amazing!" Carson added while licking his lips!
