Chapter 33: Perfume

Bliss’s black high-heels clicked upon the gray stone as she stepped back into the Sect of Sneak’s complex. She smiled, her white bunny ears twitching cutely. She stood in front of an ajar, golden door, a door with the likeness of a lion engraved upon it and a handle shaped like a lion’s head. She twisted around, grabbed the door’s handle, and then gingerly closed it. The golden door clicked shut.

“It feels nice to be back here.” Lati’s tongue flitted out as she spoke. The ivory-skinned snake woman stood at Bliss’s right, her crimson eyes glancing about the room.

Amelia, who stood at Bliss’s left, blinked her red eyes, the four tentacles coming out of her back swaying a tad. “This place … feels different than the cavern.” She still wore no clothes, instead standing in her birthday suit. Her tentacles twisted. “Should I take control of this place? I can make it … red.”

Bliss sighed, her bunny ears drooping a bit. “That will not be needed.” She turned her beautiful golden eyes to Amelia, the red dungeon.

“Fine by me, my master.” Amelia shrugged. Her tentacles cutely moved with the motion.

“Thanks for the save back there, miss succubus.” The voice came from in front of Bliss. It was Alila, the Blessed Hero. Alila’s short, blonde twintails bounced as she turned her natural hundred-yard-stare to Bliss.

“D-Don’t mention it, miss hero.” Bliss sweatdropped, her golden eyes meeting Alila’s gray. Sometimes, that look of hers is just so intimidating, but I think that is just her default look.

“I will be taking my leave here.” Alila gave a respectful nod to the rest of the group before shifting her attention back to Bliss. “Until we meet again, miss succubus.” She turned to leave.

“Until we meet again, miss hero.” Bliss waved goodbye to Alila. Alila, for her part, glanced back, and Bliss caught a small smile flash across Alila’s face. She is awfully nice … for a hero anyway. Bliss continued watching Alila walk away. She has a pretty cute face too, hundred-yard-stare of hers or not.

“So that just leaves us three.” Lati’s tongue flitted out as she spoke up. “Well, I am going to go find our cut.” A large smile formed on her face, and her long tongue flitted out again.

Bliss looked from Lati to the naked Amelia. “I guess I will take Amelia and go find some clothes for her.” A soft blush came to her cheeks as her golden eyes went to certain bits of Amelia.

Lati froze. The snake woman’s crimson eyes went to Amelia, then Bliss, and then back to Amelia. Her cheeks flushed. “Actually …” Her tongue flitted out yet again. “I will take Amelia.” She grabbed Amelia’s hand and began leading the nude, red woman away. She glanced at Bliss. “You just look around. Maybe you can find some nice loot.”

Nice loot? Bliss brought her right hand to her chin as she thought. Well, miss hero did mention that we could take stuff from the complex. A smile settled in on her face, and she lowered her hand. Let’s see what I can find. Now she wandered off herself.

Is that … perfume? Bliss came to a stop in the gray, stone hall. Glowing, white stones inlaid into the walls providing ample illumination. A faint smell of perfume hung in the air. Bliss turned to a black, stone door, said door’s handle a silvery metal. I think that perfume smell is coming from behind this door. She reached for the door’s knob-type handle but jolted back at the sound of a sudden thump. Is someone in there?

“Hello.” She called out somewhat quietly but got no response. Her black succubi wings fluttered. Maybe they did not hear me. “Hello!” She called out with more volume this time, but once more, she got no response. Maybe no one is there. She stared at the closed door for a moment and then blinked. Should I just open it? What if someone is inside though? Her white bunny ears twitched cutely as she braced herself. “I am coming in!” She grasped the door’s silvery handle and then twisted it. The black, stone door swung inwards as it opened.

“Hello.” She called yet again as she stepped into the room, the scent of perfume dissipating. I … do not see anyone else in here. Judging from the twin-sized bed with silky, black sheets and pillows, this room looked to be a bedroom. Bliss stepped up to the twin-sized bed. On the nightstand, a glowing, white stone sat and illuminated the room. Beside the glowing stone lay a black, fabric cover just large enough to cover the glowing stone. I am guessing that little cover is used to darken the room if desired.

She sniffed the air and noticed the return of a certain smell. That perfume smell is back. How … odd? She jumped slightly at the sound of a creak behind her. The perfume smell intensified. Sweatdropping, she shakily turned around and then froze at what she saw.

In the corner, there was an antique vanity set, the wooden, antique chair pulled out. In that chair was a woman or (perhaps more accurately) a grayish outline of a woman. Said woman sat there with comb in hand, combing her long hair. The strong perfume smell seemed to be coming from that grayish outline of a woman.

I-Is that a ghost?! Bliss shivered, her golden eyes wide. This cannot be happening! Her bunny ears twitched as she took a shaky step back and bumped against the twin-sized bed.

At Bliss’s bump, the ghostly woman stopped combing her hair and proceeded to set her comb down. The hair-keeping implement lightly clacked down upon the top of the antique vanity’s wooden table. She slid the antique chair a bit further out, a scratching sounding out as the chair’s legs rubbed against the gray, stone floor. Silently, she rose to her feet and then turned to face Bliss.

Bliss gulped, her face pale. Her heart raced in her chest. I … I have her attention for sure now. She stared at the outline of a woman, and the outline of a woman stared back. I-Is she going to eat me or something? Is that a thing? The ghost raised her right hand, and Bliss fell back onto the twin-sized bed as a shiver crawled up her spine. Please say she is not going to eat me or something. Bliss blinked, her bunny ears and tail both twitching. Wait. Is she just pointing at something? The color returned to her face, and she crawled off of the bed. Her heart rate began to calm down. She looked to where the ghost was pointing.

A cabinet? She is pointing at a cabinet? Why? Bliss’s golden eyes were on the antique cabinet the ghost was pointing at. The wooden cabinet’s double door was currently shut.

“Please take good care of her for me.” A feminine voice drew Bliss’s golden eyes back to where the ghost had been. However, the ghost had vanished, leaving only the lingering scent of perfume behind.

Her? Bliss turned back to the antique cabinet. What did she mean by her?
