The hour passed by quickly and soon the bell rang signaling the end of the class.

Alex got up said his goodbyes to Mike and Eric and headed to the next two classes which were even more lackluster as he didn't have any friends to talk to in the class to at least pass the time somewhat.

Finally, after the third bell rang of the day, It was time for lunch.

Getting up from his chair, Alex started walking toward the cafeteria.

At the start of this year he had been unconscious until lunch and only then managed to head to the cafeteria after he had awakened the latent vampire powers in his body.

Thinking back on it, it wasn't much of an awakening considering he had already had the powers just that he had needed a catalyst to start using them.

And that catalyst had been his meeting with another vampire, Edythe.

Back then he had almost thought that Edythe was his mate considering how his body had reacted but as time passed he never experienced that same emotion with her anymore but with Alice instead.

It wasn't even the same when he looked back on it, when he had met Edythe it had been a rush of ground-breaking dopamine whilst with Alice it felt like he entered a zone whenever she was in his sight. Like nothing besides her mattered and as long as they were together then everything would fall in the right place.

Just like a well-oiled machine of sorts.

Walking down the hall, Alex continued his thoughts until he arrived at the cafeteria doors.

Opening them slowly, Alex headed inside, walking directly to the last table in the room where the Cullens and Bella were seated.

Just like when he had entered this hall for the first time, months ago, people were whispering as they looked at him.

Alex had learned to ignore them however as he had gone on in his journey this summer.

It was much easier to ignore people when you considered them as unimportant and people who you would forget if you didn't see them daily.

That was what most of them were after all. Why should he care about people who didn't even really know him? Why should he care about their opinions?

He shouldn't and so he didn't.

Arriving in front of the table, Alex grabbed a chair and sat next to Alice.

"Hey, how's the first day treating you?" Alex asked as he looked at the people present around him.

"It's boring as hell," Emmet said as he laid his head on his hands which he had placed on the table.

"I guess so," Alex replied before turning to face his sister.

"It's pretty great, I got to see all the guys I haven't seen in months," Bella said with much more enthusiasm than Alex expected.

'I guess she has changed too, she doesn't look like the Bella from the movies who's all caught up in herself and is socially awkward. I wonder what caused the change? Was it me leaving or is it just a butterfly effect? Considering that Bella grew up with a brother this time around though, I guess changes from the original are to be expected' Alex thought to himself as he stared at Bella and gave her a light smile.

"Why are you smiling like that, it's creepy," Bella said as she held her shoulders as if she was trembling as she looked at him.

Causing Emmet and the rest of the Cullens to laugh out loud.

'At least those two seem to have remained the same' Alex thought as he stared at the stoic faces of Rosalie and Edward.

"What about you Alex? How's the day going?" Alice asked as she looked at Alex.

"It was all right, I got to meet my 'Boyfriend' " Alex said as he stretched out the last word, clearly saying it sarcastically.

"Oh, did you two have plenty of fun?" Edythe interjected as she looked at Alex with a sly grin.

Alex just shook his head as he replied.

"You couldn't even imagine half of it," Alex said with a serious voice, his face not even twitching the slightest.

And this caused another eruption of laughter from Emmet who just seemed unable to control himself at all today.

"You've improved Alex, you went from a sarcastic kid to an emo sarcastic kid," Emmet said as he finally stopped his guffaws of laughter.

This caused Alex to give the man a slight glare before leaving it at that.

"But yeah nothing much happened, in fact, it was quite boring. Thankfully I don't have to attend for long." Alex said as he released a long sigh.

His words caused both Bella and the Cullens to turn wide eyes towards him.

"What do you mean you don't have to attend for long?" Bella asked quickly, her words almost jumbling up together in her hurry.

Alex turned to face her before he opened his mouth and answered.

"I'm planning on applying for early graduation, so I guess I'll be here for a few weeks at the longest and a few days at the shortest," Alex said as he extended his hand and grabbed a fry from Bella's food tray.

"Early graduation? Why? Why didn't you tell me beforehand? When did you decide this? Did you talk about it with Charlie at least?" Bella asked a flurry of questions in a second, leaving her out of breath at the end.

Meanwhile, Alex munched on the fry he had gotten before answering in a laidback voice.

"I didn't talk about it with Charlie, I was thinking of doing this even before I went on the three-month journey. It's just that school feels too boring and time-consuming. I could be spending that time that I'm stuck in class doing a bunch of other more beneficial things."

"A bunch of other things? Like what Alex? We're still underage, what can we even do?" Bella said as she tried to find any way to dissuade Alex however Alex shook his head at her.

"I can find my ways Bella, at the end of the day, I don't have the limitations that a human does," Alex answered.

He didn't have to worry about others hearing his words considering the loud noise in the cafeteria so he in fact liked the place quite a lot.

Here's the chapter, there's one more chapter for 1k words that will be released 2 days from then all chapters are basically 2k words almost unless something happened that day and I didn't have time.

I'm trying to portray a more mature Alex after his journey. I don't know if I'm doing the best job but I'm trying my hardest to make him less childish I guess.
