The entire car ride was silent like it had been the last few days since the day Bella had called Alex out.
Not long after, they arrived at the school parking lot. Like every day, it was filled with cars, and students were standing around talking to each other.
Looking around, Alex saw the silver Volvo and a black Jeep Rubicon on the corner of the parking lot.
'They finally brought two cars. I still have no idea how they managed to fit inside that one Volvo. Truly one of the great mysteries of this universe, ' Alex thought as he parked the Truck. He had already gotten used to driving the old hunk of metal, so it was pretty easy compared to when he thought he would hit someone any second.
Turning the car off, he grabbed his backpack and said.
"Let's go"
Bella just nodded, grabbed her backpack, and exited the car.
"Do you have anything fun today?" Alex asked as they started heading towards the school doors.
"No, nothing really interesting. It's all stuff we already learned back in Phoenix, I'm sure you remember, right?" Bella said, though her tone appeared to get more and more sarcastic as she neared the end of her sentence.
"Right," Alex said, his right eye twitching as he walked alongside Bella.
"Well, then, I guess I'll get going now since we have different classes and all. See you later, Bells," Alex said as he walked ahead of her and turned to wave as he walked away.
"Right, see you later," Bella said, her voice small, almost a mumble at this point, but the sadness echoed clear throughout it.
Heading inside, Alex saw the same halls he had seen for the past week. He had already gotten used to maneuvering through them and finding his way around.
'I never thought I'd like coming to school, but the house has been almost unbearable, with Bella barely talking to me anymore. I can talk to Charlie, but he's barely home and comes back late and leaves early,' Alex thought as he headed towards his first class of the day.
'Physics class is this way, I think,' Alex thought as he headed towards the left hall and up a pair of stairs.
"Hey Alex, right?"
As Alex was climbing the stairs to the second story of the building, he heard someone calling him. Turning his head to the left, he saw who it was, and it left him stumped.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
'Jasper?' Alex was surprised. He was the last person he thought would talk to him, who, at this point, was just a normal human in everyone's eyes.
'Not like they would readily just believe me if I told them I'm a truly impossible-to-kill vampire that's different from all vampires that currently exist. Right, that's totally believable.' Alex thought to himself.
"Hey, Jasper, right? Do you need me for something?" Alex asked as he extended his arm for a handshake with the young blond man.
"No, I just saw you heading up to the second story, and I'm going there for physics class, so I thought we might have the same class together," Jasper said as he started walking up the stairs.
Alex followed his pace and started walking shoulder to shoulder with the human wanna-be vampire.
"Yeah, I've got physics too. I guess we can hang out together for this hour then," Alex said as he smiled at Jasper, happy he didn't have to spend the rest of the class alone and staring at the wall.
"Right. I hope we can be friends soon, then." Jasper smiled and replied to Alex.
"Hope? We're already friends, man. We are totally going to be homies," Alex said as he put his hand on top of Jasper's shoulder. The vampire froze for a second before he relaxed and continued to act normal.
Not more than two steps later, Jasper stopped and turned towards Alex, his face showing confusion, and asked,
"Homies, what's that? A new way to call friends?"
Alex stared at him for a few moments, his expression frozen, then started walking, dragging the young blonde with him.
'I forgot he's an old geezer for a second,' Alex thought to himself and then said out loud to Jasper.
"Yeah, it's a way people used to call best friends, someone you can trust to have your back when you need it, you know? Kind of like comrades in military terms," Alex said as he explained to the century-old coffin what a homie was.
Jasper nodded in understanding, though he did still look a bit confused.
"Why are you still confused, Jasper? I thought I explained it pretty simply," Alex said as he looked at the man's face.
'Damn, bro's handsome, can't compare to my new face though,' Alex thought jokingly.
"I understand what the word means, but how did we become so-called Homies so quickly?" Jasper asked Alex, his face showcasing a questioning smile.
"Ehh, don't mind it so much, man. Don't mind the small details," Alex said as he laughed out loud for a second.
While they were talking, they had already arrived at the physics classroom.
Taking his arm out from where he held it over Jasper's shoulder, Alex opened the classroom door.
The classroom was just starting to fill with students and the professor, a young woman named Emily. She had recently received her master's degree and was now teaching at Forks High School.
'Damn, she sure is hot,' Alex thought as he went and got the last seat by the window and opened it just a bit so it could let some air inside the room.
"Professor, is it all right to open the window a bit?" Alex asked as he and Jasper sat down in their seats.
Lifting her head, Emily smiled and nodded, confirming that it was fine by her.
'I don't want to be a simp, but damn,' Alex thought, and then he hit Jasper with his elbow a little.
"She looks beautiful, doesn't she?" Alex whispered.
Jasper just nodded and then whispered back.
"Yeah, she looks nice."
"What's with that response, man? Have some vigor, will you?" Alex whispered in clearly fake anger. His expression was a smile, however.
'It's nice being able to talk to someone besides Mike and Charlie.'
