The rest of the drive was short but calm. No words were said, and though Alex could feel a slight tension, it wasn't unbearable or uncomfortable.
Slowly, the car stopped and started slowing down as it turned and parked in front of a large mansion.
The mansion was constructed in modern architecture, with large windows, and is surrounded by black marble and light brown wood.
Turning the ignition key, Edward stopped the car's engine.
*Clank*
Edward opened the Volvo's door and headed outside.
Edythe, Alice, and Alex followed suit as they got outside.
'This place looks even more gorgeous than it did in the films. I guess seeing it in real life shows just how big of a mansion it really is,' Alex thought as he looked at the house.
"Pretty impressive, right?" Alice asked as she stood next to Alex.
"Yeah, looks gorgeous" Alex answered as he stared at the mansion and then turned around to look at the surrounding, woods were all you could see all around it.
"The location is also awesome," Alex added after he stopped surveying the area.
"Yeah, Carlisle and Esme wanted a calm place to relax and not have to worry about hiding ourselves," Alice said.
A few seconds later, the rumbling sound of a car was heard, and the Jeep came into view.
Parking next to the Volvo, the rest of the Cullen children came out.
Jasper and Emmet had a smile on their face, a significant contrast to Rosalie, that seemed to frown in displeasure as soon as her eyes landed on Alex's face.
'She makes it look like I'm either the most disgusting thing she has ever seen, or I killed her entire family.' Alex sweatdropped as he saw Rosalie's reaction.
"Well, then, let's go inside. Carlisle and Esme are waiting for us," Jasper said as he came over.
"Right." Alex nodded as he started following the rest, heading towards the front door of the large mansion.
"Ah, right. You haven't seen her yet. Esme is our adoptive mother and Carlisles's wife," Alice said as she walked alongside Alex.
Alex nodded and then followed the others the rest of the way to the front door.

Rosalie opened it and headed inside directly, not even bothering to care about anyone else, as she disappeared behind the mansion's doors.
"She doesn't really see me favorably, does she?" Alex asked with a slight grimace on his expression.
"Don't worry. She'll warm up to you soon enough," Emmet said as he slapped Alex's back.
"You know those slaps of yours are quite heavy, Emmet," Alex said as he turned to Emmet.
Emmet simply gave a sheepish smile in response.
Finally, Alex headed inside the large forest mansion.
The walls, the high ceiling, the wooden floors, and the thick carpets covering the floors were all different shades of white.
It gave the already large mansion an even larger feel.
'It almost looks like those palaces in Greek mythology,' Alex thought as he headed further inside.
Finally, after they had passed one more door, Alex saw two people waiting for them.
One was the handsome Carlisle, who was wearing what looked like a thin sweater, and the other was a woman.
She was quite tall, with brown locks of hair and amber, almost hazel eyes that perfectly suited her heart-shaped face.
Her body also looked fit. However, her beauty differed from Alice's or Rosalie's, who had a much younger-looking beauty.
Esme, the woman Alex was looking at, could be said to perfectly represent the beauty of an older woman, someone who looked like a true, kind-hearted mother.
Carlisle opened his mouth first as he smiled and welcomed Alex inside.
"Welcome, Alex. We are very pleased that you have decided to join us today," Carlisle said, his tone soft and graceful as he extended his hand for a handshake.
Shaking the man's hand, Alex smiled as he replied.
"It's also my pleasure to be invited. Your house truly looks lovely, Doctor," Alex said.
Parting hands with Carlisle, Alex turned his head towards Esme.
"Welcome, Alex. I'm glad you decided to come. Alice has told me many good things about you," Esme said as she smiled at Alex.
"You must be Alice's mother, Esme. I'm also glad I could come. Thank you once more for the invitation, and I hope Alice didn't put me on too high of a pedestal. I'm just a normal kid," Alex said as he smiled and nodded to Esme in thanks.
Esme smiled, and Carlisle continued talking.
"Well then, let us go and sit inside."
Alex nodded, and they headed to the living room.
The mansion's living room was wide, with a TV in the middle and large couches surrounding it. Large windows on the side gave a great view of the forest outside.
On the other side was the kitchen, and a bit farther away was a set of stairs leading upstairs.
"It looks lovely," Alex said, causing Esme to give him a soft thanks and a smile.
Sitting on the couches, Alex sat with Alice on his right and Jasper on his left, while on the other side were Emmet with Rosalie and Edward with Edythe.
Carlisle and Esme sat together on a smaller couch meant for only two people.
"Well, I'm sure you all have questions about me, so we can start with that right away if you wish," Alex said as he turned to face Carlisle.
Carlisle nodded his head, his smile still in place.
"That would be much appreciated, Alex. You have us quite confused, you see."
Carlisle said, causing Alice, who was on his side, to nod unconsciously.
"Well then, how about I start with what exactly I am," Alex said.
