After parking the Truck in front of the garage, Bella turned it off, grabbed her backpack, and exited the car.
Alex did the same as he got out of the Truck and followed Bella inside.
Hearing the sound of the TV, he looked only to see Charlie, Billy Black and Jacob sitting on the couch as they ate pizza and cheered on their baseball team.
"Hey," Bella waved her hand awkwardly.
"Oh, Hey, Bells, Alex. How did school go today?" Charlie turned around as he said.
Billy and Jacob also waved as they smiled at the sibling duo.
"Hey, Dad, the school went great. I made some friends and had some fun as usual," Alex said, smiling as he waved at them.
"So what are you guys watching?" Alex said as he went near the couch and gave a handshake in greeting to Billy and Jacob.
"It's the quarterfinals, and though the Washington Nationals are currently losing, we're hoping for a turnaround right now," Billy said as he explained what was going on.
"Well, good luck then. I hope your team wins. I don't know much about Baseball; I'm more of a basketball kid," Alex said as he nodded toward the TV.
"Ah, I can tell you all about it if you want to learn, Alex," Jacob said, his voice sounding excited.
Alex heard Bella head upstairs silently in the background.
'Don't leave me alone, Bells, ' Alex thought, but sadly, his sister didn't have the superpower of telepathy.
Faced with Jacob, who looked so excited at the prospect of teaching him about the sport, Alex almost didn't have a choice at this point.
'He would definitely look like a kicked puppy if I said no, and while being able to see that expression is extremely intriguing, I'll spare you this time, Jacob, ' Alex thought as he nodded.
"All right, let me grab a chair so I can sit, and then you can explain it to me."
Jacob's and Charlie's faces lit up at his response, looking like he had made both of their days.
'In the past, Alex and Jacob used to play together in the woods near the reservation, so I guess he just misses having time with his friend,' Alex thought.
"I'll get my backpack in my room real quick, and I'll be right back," Alex said once he thought for a moment and nodded towards the stairs.
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
Charlie, Billy, and Jacob nodded in understanding as they turned around and focused on the baseball game once more.
Heading upstairs, Alex went to his room and simply slung the backpack onto his bed and closed the door.
Before heading downstairs, however, he went to Bellas's room, where he knocked.
Alex heard some ruffling around before he heard a voice.
"Come in," Bellas's voice was heard saying.
Opening the door, Alex came into the room and sat on her computer chair.
"Hey, Bells, do you want me to order you any food? It doesn't seem like those guys are going to be leaving any pizza," Alex said, motioning his head toward the door.
Bella shook her head as she said.
"No, it's fine, Alex. I'm not really hungry, and I'll just order or cook something myself later."
Alex nodded and then opened his mouth to say something, only to close it once more.
*Sigh*
"Is this the time you're going to explain why you changed and what's happening?" Bella said, her voice sounded somehow tired.
Alex stopped for a moment and then nodded.
"Yeah, though I can't really explain what's going on right now as it's not something I'm comfortable with, I just wanted to say sorry," Alex said as he looked Bella in the eyes.
Huffing out, Bella looked at him, and her expression seemed to change multiple times before it finally settled into what appeared to be acceptance.
"Its... allright, when you can tell me then i know you will. Just be allright and safe ok?" Bella said as she nodded, more so to herself than to Alex.
A smile graced Alex's lips as he nodded and said quickly, enthusiasm coating his voice.
"Of course. As soon as I can, I will tell you, and it's nothing dangerous, so you don't have to worry," Alex said as he got up from the computer chair and went to the door.
"Well, I'm going downstairs to watch the baseball match with the guys. If you want anything, then either send me a message on my phone or just come call me," Alex said as he pointed towards the stairs.
Bella nodded.
Alex then turned around and started heading downstairs.
"Hey, stop, close the door, Alex, Alex! ALEX!!" Bella tried to call him, but he didn't mind her at all as he headed downstairs.
"That bastard," Bella muttered as she got up and closed the door.
Alex, meanwhile, arrived downstairs, grabbed a chair from the dinner table, and brought it next to the couch.
"Hey, so how about you explain the game, Jacob?" Alex said once he sat down and pointed his head towards the TV.
"Right, so," Jacob started as he explained the rules of baseball, from the basic ones to even some of the most obscure ones.
Alex sat there and listened while they watched the game together.
Eating a slice of pizza once in a while as they talked among each other about what was happening in the game.
The hour quickly passed as the game came to a close.
Getting up from the chair, Alex stretched his arms and grabbed the chair to put it back at the dinner table.
Once he returned to the couch, Billy and Jacob were already on their feet, saying their goodbyes to Charlie.
"Already going?" Alex asked them as he watched them finish their goodbye to Charlie.
Billy and Jacob turned to Alex as they nodded.
"Yeah, we're going, Alex. Thanks for accommodating us," Billy said as he nodded and shook Alex's hand.
"It was my pleasure. You guys are like family," Alex said as he shook Billy's hand, who smiled at hearing his words.
Jacob also gave his goodbye, and the father-son duo headed outside.
Closing the door, Alex released a sigh.
'They're nice guys, but when someone's around your home, you just can't fully relax,' Alex thought.
