Mother

"You should think more about it Alex, this is just too sudden," Bella said as she tried again and again to persuade Alex however he had already made up his mind a long time ago.

And today he had just further solidified his mind on that decision.

Shaking his head slowly, Alex replied to her.

"No, I've already thought through it Bells, school just isn't something I want to have on my mind right now" Alex answered her with a tone that asked for no further questions about his decision.

*Sigh*

Bella released a long sigh, finally giving up on her attempts at persuasion.

The rest of the lunch and hours of school were boring, to say the least.

When the final bell rang, Alex was glad that he would be out of there.

Heading to the parking lot, Alex walked toward the orange truck seeing that Bella and the Cullens were already there waiting for him.

"Hey, got a bit delayed talking to Jess and Angela," Alex said while he gave the group a lazy wave.

"It's all right, so what are you planning on doing? Want to come over?" Alice asked Alex immediately as she came closer to him.

Alex shook his head, however.

"I still haven't greeted Charlie since I came back so I'll be spending the day hanging out with him"

Alice made a pouting face however she nodded, understanding his decision.

"You better come over tomorrow." She said and turned around heading to the car.

"For sure" Alex answered her with a small smile showing in his face.

Turning toward Bella, Alex motioned to the truck asking if she was ready to head off.

Bella nodded, turned toward Edward giving him a hug, and then waved everyone goodbye before heading to the Orange truck with Alex.

"What about your car?" Bella asked causing Alex to stop as he found out he had almost forgotten his car altogether whilst talking with the group.

Turning back towards the Cullens Alex called out to Alice who had yet to get in the silver Volvo.

Alice turned around confused only to see a pair of car keys thrown her way.

"Take it to your house will you?" Alex asked her and though he was quite a distance away and wasn't talking loudly, as a vampire she clearly heard his words.

Nodding in his direction, Alice walked to the BMW and entered the car.

Alex then turned back, heading towards the orange truck once more.

Bella took the truck keys out of her pocket and threw them at Alex who caught them mid-air.

"I'm driving?" Alex asked as he changed his direction from the passenger door to the driving side.

"Yeah, I'm too lazy now that I have you around to drive instead," Bella said as she opened the door of the truck with a loud clang noise.

It seemed the truck had only gotten in worse condition these past few months.

"What did you do to this poor thing" Alex said in a joking tone.

This seemed to cause Bella endless frustration as she started her rant about how she had to get Jacob to help her fix it four times during the summer alone.

And how the radio had broken even further and at one point would just start up randomly and make loud screeching noises so she had to have it completely broken so it would stop.

How her breaks had gotten so bad she had to have them replaced as they started to barely work and she almost crashed in front of their garage door.

How the door wouldn't open sometimes and a million other issues.

"Must have been tough huh," Alex said with a chuckle before turning the key, and with a few rumbles the car's engine turned on.

'Ah, I missed this' Alex thought as he heard the loud engine rumble.

"Must be nice having that new car" Bella said in a snarking tone though it was clearly said in a joking manner.

"It's all right," Alex said before slamming the pedal and driving out of the parking lot, heading toward his home.

No matter how much he floored the pedal though, the truck just wouldn't increase its speed.

'Damn, I forgot just how slow this thing was' Alex thought to himself as he took a turn and continued his drive.

"So how has Charlie been?" Alex asked Bella who was looking out of the window at the treeline.

Turning to face Alex, Bella shook her head slowly.

"He was quite sad after you went on your trip, and even now he asks about you almost every day. I think he was just afraid that something might happen to you, considering he doesn't really know what you are" Bella said and then made a face as if she had just remembered something.

Her expression contorted into a wicked smile.

"Oh Renee was furious, she almost booked a flight straight to Forks but Charlie told her that you were already gone from here. She wanted to call the police on Charlie for letting you go but I managed to dissuade her. She was soooo mad" Bella said as she looked at Alex.

Alex whom Bella thought would react in some way simply hummed.

"That sure does sound like our mother"

"What, that's all you have to say? Not even a thank you for saving your ass?" Bella said as she crossed her arms in front of her chest and made a humphing sound as if she was expecting praise for her actions.

"You sure have gotten more expressive. Did Alice corrupt you or what?" Alex asked Bella as he turned to face her with a small smile.

"What do you mean corrupt me," Bella asked almost immediately.

"Nothing, but yeah I guess it doesn't really matter what Mother thinks, we both know that she isn't really the brightest or the most loving, so at this point, I just don't really care Bells," Alex said answering Bella's previous question.

"She's still our mother Alex" Bella said as she turned toward him once more, giving him a serious look.

"Right," Alex said.

'Your mother' Alex thought.
