"What's the next step coach?" Alex asked as he followed John who walked back to the orange cones.
"Now that you know how to do side steps, it's time you learn how to do them backward and forwards as well and not just right and left," John said as he grabbed the cones and arranged them in a different structure.
"I'll show you once, then train it by yourself," John said as he finally put the last orange cone in place.
Standing in the middle of the cones, John started bobbing on his feet and started doing quick steps once more.
He stepped forward and just before his foot hit the ground he forced his calves to strengthen so he could get ready to go back, doing this allowed for faster movement.
*Huff*
After a few rounds, John stopped and huffed, having to catch his breath from the exhaustion.
"That's all you have to learn, If you manage to do it like the last one in fifteen minutes then I'll train you on how to actually throw a punch but that would be all for today," John said as he finally caught his breath and straightened.
Alex nodded as a smile overtook his facial expression.
"Okay, thanks, coach!" Alex said as he replaced John and stood in the middle of the orange cones.
Meanwhile, John went back to the counter.
'All right, this should be much easier. I already know how to do it in one direction now I just have to switch it up' Alex thought and concentrated.
Moments later he started stepping back and forth as he got into the swing of doing the vertical side steps.
This time he didn't directly go at an outrageous speed and started slowly, ramping up the speed as time went on.
The minutes passed quickly and Alex didn't make a single mistake this time around.
'It was pretty much just a repeat of what I did before, it would have been harder if I couldn't directly memorize how the stepping worked but I could do that and all that was left was for me to translate it so it would suit my own body' Alex thought as he stopped the side steps and headed toward John once more.
"That's crazy, and he said he didn't do any martial arts" One of the guys in the gym mumbled to another as they looked at Alex.
"He's lying, it can't be possible that he didn't learn any martial arts because if he truly is telling the truth then..." Oreo intercepted the two guys who were talking.

"Then what?" One of them questioned him.
"Then that's beyond the level of a genius, that's just a monster in human skin," Oreo said as he looked at Alex's back.
'You could never imagine just how right you are Oreo.' Alex thought to himself as he arrived at the counter.
"Coach, I learned it," Alex said as he looked at the old man once again.
*Sigh*
Sighing softly, John stood up from the chair and started walking towards a boxing sandbag.
Alex heard the man mutter to himself as they were walking.
"Couldn't you have at least tried to hide it a bit more like the last time, you directly did it this time. I just started reading again"
'I'm telling you that I don't know martial arts god damned it old man' Alex thought to himself as he followed John.
Arriving at the sandbag, John turned toward him.
"All right this is the last thing that I can teach you today, I'm already getting too tired, I can't move these old bones as easily anymore," John said as he looked at Alex.
Alex nodded quickly as he replied to the old coach.
"Of course coach, thank you for even teaching me this much," Alex said as he tried to be as respectful as possible to the old man.
John nodded and then said as he turned to face the sandbag.
"Ok, watch closely, I won't do it twice. When you want to throw a punch, you don't just use the strength of your arm but you use your entire body so you could create as much kinetic force as possible" John said as he took a stance and punched forward.
His punch shook the entire sandbag, causing it to fly backward.
'I guess it is true when they say that technique matters a lot, His punching power is like that of a young man but he is already old. He's compensating for it with his skills' Alex thought as he looked at John and the swinging sandbag.
"That's all, if you have any questions just ask the guys around here, they will be happy to help you out," John said as he started walking back towards his chair at the counter.
"Not like you would need it"
Alex heard John mumbled to himself as he walked away.
A small grin overtook Alex's face as he nodded and then walked to stand in front of the sandbag.
Closing his eyes, Alex thought back to John's stance a few seconds ago and started analyzing it, every single change in his pose, in what muscles he was using, and how he would be able to replicate it with his own body without actually copying it completely.
This time it took Alex a minute or two before he opened his eyes again.
When his eyes snapped open they flashed with intent as he looked at the boxing sandbag.
'Let's do this' Alex thought as he took a stance.
Bringing his punch closer to his upper waist. Alex strengthened his calf muscles and his abs as he pushed forward.
Using the power generated in his legs, he transported it through his body, through the abs, and into the arm which also released its own strength.
This resulted in the sandbag releasing a massive sound.
*BANG*
It flew backward and soon toppled the entire thing as it fell on the ground.
Alex stood there in shock as he stared at what he had just done.
'I'm sure I only used strength at the human level' Alex thought to himself.
The entire gym had gone silent as they turned to look at Alex.

I hope you liked this chapter, it was a bit hard to write as I don't know much about martial arts so I had to come up with the training from my imagination.
Lots of Love
