It's been a year. For an amateur writer, it is a lot of time. When I decided I'd invest time and effort into becoming one, I had to choose from several ideas what would come into being first. The troll was one. I was pissed at the way some Japanese web novels developed and decided to do my own take on the iSekai genre. Then I took the idea I had the least attachment to and wrote it. I knew my first work would be the crappiest ever (and the latest is still just "less crappy") so I went with the path that would give me the most freedom to pour out crap without hurting my soft-skinned feelings.
Then the end-of-year vacation came, I spent three months without writing and with 20+ drafts in stock (they are still there) When I came back and reviewed these drafts, my process had evolved. I couldn't publish that - for the lack of a better word - crap. The bar was raised slightly. The turning point came when I wrote, published and re-read the story about Alice in NY. My inner critic cringed and I broke. I couldn't go on.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
I never truly abandoned this story. I tried, published 13.1 (Wavering Viscountess) as a rewrite of the previous draft, but I still couldn't keep up.
Some mental itches came and I went out to write MMAG and Decompose. Maybe the one that's wavering is me.
But here we are. I'm going to restart on this story and all the other three, alternating between them until they finish. Or until the next mental itch or squirrel runs over my windowsill.
Hum, squirrels. Reincarnated as a helpless critter... You see how things are.
But I make a pledge. Until I finish the troll, I guarantee 100% satisfaction or your money back (whatever you paid me).
