Decisions

By the time the sun was starting to rise I had killed another three undead. The rest had stopped hanging around and I secretly hoped they went and fought the horned rabbits. The rabbits were too big of a threat for me to not wish any harm upon them. As I admired the rising sun I got a notification that made me hop around in excitement

Congratulations on completing your first mini objective. You will now be allowed to view your status and select a class. Your next mini objective will be given to you after you select a class. Would you like to see the classes you may select?

I said yes to the classes and was instantly underwhelmed by the amount of choices.

Dire Dagoon

Mage Dagoon

High Dagoon

Dragoon

A large powerful force on the battlefield. This class gives you defense and offense. However you aren't given any special abilities

Your physical abilities will match up with any powerful foes but your magic can even the playing field. You start with the basic shoot fire spell

Your physical abilities will improve but you will show the most strength when leading others into battle. When you fight alongside your allies they gain benefits that you can pick up over time

You become larger and gain wings. As you level this class you will eventually become a lesser Dragon. However, you would be shunned by other Dagoons.

I stared at the options and started to think. The Dire Dagoon would be useful for most fights but it lacked the flair I wanted to use in battle. The Mage Dagoon seemed pretty powerful but seemed more suited for one on one combat. The High Dagoon was the choice I was leaning towards. It let me make my children stronger so they would have a higher chance of living. The Dragoon was out of the question as my whole objective was to make the Dagoon race powerful. I wouldn't be able to do that as a dragoon.

With those thoughts in mind I selected the High Dagoon class. As I did this my body started to emit a pale red light. I began to feel my whole body start to itch.

Congratulations on your new class. Your second mini objective is to have a base with 100 dagoon one of which must be a soldier. You must also eliminate a fellow player to move to the next stage. Your reward is 20,000 exp and 50 biomass. You will also be given a unique item upon completion.

I stared at the objective for a second trying to figure out ways around it. I had killed animals but I didn't think I would ever have to kill humans. I may not be one anymore and may not have had the most positive experience with them but I wasn’t about to go and murder people! I decided to complete the rest of the objective before continuing to think about the murder I might commit.

Moving away from my morbid thoughts I ran over to a puddle and saw that I had somehow grown horns on the top of my head. My new horns made it look like I was wearing a crown.

I also noticed that I had grown larger. I was now 5 feet tall and 10 feet long. My tail had undergone the biggest change. My tail spike had grown much longer, almost 18 inches long. My tail had grown to enormous lengths, easily 16 feet long. It had also grown thicker and I could feel the muscles throughout my body bulging with strength.

As I observed the new changes I took a quick look at my scales. I was surprised to see that they had gotten thicker and I noticed there were more around my shoulders and other areas that were hit more often than the rest of my body.

I wanted to see what the status was so I tried pulling it up. As I sat there waiting I realized I didn't know how to pull my status up. I tried saying it but I didn't have the vocal cords needed to speak words.. After a few minutes of fumbling around I decided to try mentally willing it like when I talked with Felix and Trip

When I did this I was rewarded for my efforts when my status popped up.

I was overwhelmed by the amount of information. I knew the skills would be useful although the frenzy one seemed to be only worth it when I was angry. I was a bit surprised that there was more Dagoon out in the world. I decided to assign my new stat points equally to brawn and charisma.

I was a bit confused on what the race mutation points were so I clicked on them after assigning my stats.

A few options opened up for me

Second tail: 1 mutation point Fifth leg: 1 mutation point

Venomous bite: 1 mutation point detachable tail spike: 1 mutation point

Fire breath: 5 mutation points wings: 20 mutation points

I considered some of the options but others were completely overlooked. I didn't really see the benefit of having a fifth leg and unless the spike grew back it would be literally throwing a weapon away.I decided to choose the venomous bite as it allowed my children to take down bigger foes with only one bite.

I selected a venomous bite and started to have a strange taste in my mouth. It didn't really affect me so I decided to test it out on a monster soon. I was excited about being able to level up as I had killed a few monsters and not gotten that much stronger.

I went back inside the cave to check on the newest arrivals. They were both healthy and were already playing with the much bigger Trip. I looked at Felix and realized he was the same size I had been before I acquired my class.

I was proud to see how large my pack was growing. I anticipated a lot more hunters and maybe even workers coming along soon so I decided it was time to start grinding for biomass and exp.

I stretched, hearing my bones pop as I did. I called out to Felix and told him I was going hunting. He sprang over ready to go. I decided to let him as it would serve him well to have combat experience.

As I walked out I noticed the Trip was in the water and was replicating what me and Felix had done to get fish. The other two hunters waited, taking turns bringing the fish inside.

Felix and I started walking towards the rabbits. I sniffed the air trying to find any solitary rabbits nearby. I found a group of two a few dozen feet away which I decided would be my prey. I didn't want to get in a conflict with the other person from earth but the rabbits were a large food source.

I walked toward one trying to stay downwind. Felix too the other also trying to sneak by. As we grey closer I stepped on a piece of dried seaweed that made the Rabbits spring up from what they were doing.

Once they noticed us they charged forward but we were ready. I shot my tail forward trying to stab the rabbit through the chest. I missed Impaling its leg. It tripped from only having one leg and I pounced as soon as it did. I jumped on top of the rabbit the size of a dog and bit its neck. I crushed its spine beneath my jaws with a satisfying crunch.

As the bunny died I got a notification. You have killed a mature horned rabbit: 25 exp. After killing it I looked over and saw that Felix had finished up as well but had sustained a small injury on his shoulder.

I walked over to make sure he was okay but he seemed alright. We set one rabbit aside and started chowing down on the other one. After a short while I got a notification asking if I wanted to produce a Dagoon Hunter.

I decided to say no as I wanted to save up to get a worker that could take care of the young. Me and Felix continued to try and find more horned rabbits but they traveled in large groups we couldn’t handle.

After a few more hours of searching I noticed the sun was starting to set so we started making our way back to the cave. When we arrived the newest hunters rushed out to greet us.

They started licking and nuzzling me and Felix. Their act of pure affection made me feel fuzzy inside. It also made me feel a deep urge to protect my new family. I walked to the sleeping area of the cave and noticed on the way that there was a small tunnel leading into a room.

I peeked my head inside and saw a small room with a stack of fish in the center. It seemed that Trip had dug out a store room. I walked out of the room and settled myself down on the moss bed. My children surrounded me, each of them enjoying the downtime in their own way.

Trip was making the nest more comfortable by adding new moss. I turned and saw that Felix was gnawing on a bone trying to get to the sweet marrow inside. The two hunters were wrestling around a playful way to practice real combat.

I decided it was time to give them names. One of them had two different colored eyes, one green and one red. I decided to name him Tote. The other hunter had only blue scales so I thought it made sense when I named him Blue.

As I admired my newly named children I felt scared. Scared that something would take them from me because I wasn't powerful enough to protect them. I decided it was time to move to a more secure location. The cave was amazing but wouldn't be able to fit my family much longer.

I went to sleep early that night as I didn’t know when I would be able to sleep in a safe familiar place again.

The next day I roused my children and got to work. I had them all eat some more fish before we set off. While they did this I checked my status.

I had gained more biomass after eating the fish and would soon be able to produce a worker. After checking my stats I told my brood to follow me and headed out.

We traveled in a triangle formation with Blue and Tote in the center. We headed out and started walking in the direction of the undead. I wanted to move my family away from the rabbits as they would kill us if they found our base. The undead at the very least we could avoid.

We traveled in silence for the first hour before we started to see the undead. We avoided them by staying near the water masking our scent with the strong smell of the ocean. The day passed uneventfully and we settled down in a hole we had dug.

I decided to stay up and guard as I was the biggest and most powerful. Also I didn't fit in the hole. The night was going well until I noticed that the undead had started moving closer. I quickly woke my brood up but by then it was too late.

An undead noticed us and started howling. Felix instantly got up quickly followed by Trip. I ordered them to take their siblings and run. They each picked one up and started sprinting away. I growled threateningly at the approaching undead.

They completely ignored my intimidation and charged at me. I swatted at one, tossing it to the side. I bit down on another, ripping its head off. My face was now covered in blood and as it sat on my skin I started to feel a burning sensation. I jumped back pawing at my snout trying to remove the acidic blood.

The undead didn't give me the time to recover, racing towards me while howling to the sky with joy. Thankfully I had a tail with a large sharp end. The undead's head fell to the sand almost as if it hadn't even been touched.

Notifications had appeared in my vision but I ignored them. I took a second to get a quick headcount of the undead. After counting I grew worried. There were dozens of undead and I could see more coming, attracted by the howling. I looked around for my children and saw that they were about 300 feet away. I also proudly noticed the trail of bodies they had left behind.

We could escape if we ran but with the added weight of carrying Tote and Blue we wouldn't make it. Even if we dropped them they wouldn't be able to keep up. The best thing for me to do now was try to buy them more time. Although I didn't know how much longer that would be. I continued swatting the undead with both tail and paw until I saw something that made me want to cry in fear.

The monster charged toward me. It was an undead giant the size of a large building. It carried a bone club that was twice my size. It swatted its kind away trying to get to the snack in front of it. Then with one last howl that shook the ground beneath me the monster charged.
