I had the remaining hunters forage for more biomass while the building was being completed. It would take around a day. This time it was for soldiers so it might be longer as it would need to be bigger. I spent every day for a week patrolling around our land killing any rabbits I could find. The rabbits moved in hunting parties of 12 letting me easily vanquish them.
I also checked on Trip every day before I went to sleep. Trip’s leg had been amputated as it had been causing problems for his body. It was starting to grow back and he would be able to walk in a few days. I had made sure that all the other injured Dagoon had their wounds cleaned. I didn't understand this world very well but I knew that cuts had to be cleaned otherwise they could get infected.
The building which I called the fertilization chamber now instead of the pizza oven had been completed. We had stuffed all the rabbits' bodies in and 15 soldiers were produced.
They truly were the cream of the crop of my Dagoon. They had the same protective plates all over their body just like me but the best thing was they had three tails. They were half my size as I had grown even bigger reaching 30 feet long and 10 feet tall. I was now a monster in my own right. However no matter how big I was I could be defeated if hit with a catapult. It was also incredibly hard to sneak as our giant bulk made it impossible for me to hide in tall grass.
We had also been producing Dagoon hunters the whole time and now had another 50. Most were full grown but a few were still babies. I also made another two workers as Brick was being overwhelmed with work.
I got out of my nest and went to see Julius. He was a Soldier with only black scales. I had named him as he was my first soldier. He was also bigger than the others being 6 feet tall and 20 feet long. I made him captain of the soldiers and had him lead patrols just like I did.
He had just returned from a fruit gathering expedition and I was excited to see how many more hunters we could produce. I walked over to Julius and he lowered his head as a way to acknowledge my presence. I patted his head before looking at the spoils.
There were hundreds of fruit and even a few dozen rabbit bodies. I had them put all the fruit into the hunter fertilization chamber. We would need numbers to not be overwhelmed by the mass of rabbits.
I waited another five days for all the hunters to grow and for Trip to finish healing. Then with a heavy heart I surveyed my soldiers one again. Trip, Tote and Blue were each leading twenty five hunters and three soldiers. Julius led my personal group of 5 soldiers. We left five hunters to protect the nest and to gather more biomass. We would need more hunters ready when we returned. After one more final lookover we set out
We marched with the three legions forming the points of a triangle with me and my retinue in the center. If any legion was attacked we could respond quickly. We marched at a slow trot and continued until we came to the old nest. Suspiciously we had not been attacked the whole day. We hadn't even seen any hunting parties. My assumption was the leader of the rabbits was amassing all his forces for one gigantic battle.
We rested at the old nest for a few hours before moving out once again. I had each of the legions space their hunters out so if we were attacked by artillery only one would die. I saw clouds of dust on the horizon after passing the titan bear's corpse. I ordered my brood to go full speed as we raced towards the enemy. I ordered all of my children to roar. It would scare the enemy and confuse them.

We were about 400 feet away from the enemy when they started firing. Three boulders slammed into our ranks killing 6 hunters. We continued sprinting forward and I had all the soldiers break from the legions including mine and form a thin line in front of our hunters.
They finished getting into this formation just as our lines slammed into the rabbits. Dozens of monsters died in a matter of seconds as the fighting turned into a bloody brawl. I ignored the weaker rabbits stepping on them as I raced toward their catapults. Too many of my children had died to them. I saw one of my children be dragged down as I ran toward the enemy. I stopped for a second. When did I become comfortable with making my children sacrifice themselves? I turned back and charged into the fight. I used my tail to constantly kill the rabbits while using my paws to smack away the rabbits. I carved a bloody path back to my children.
I ran over to the one who was dragged down and lifted him up onto my back using my tail. I had to use my tail to hold him there but it was worth it. I started ripping into the rabbits once again. Frenzy took hold as I watched more of my children die without me being able to do anything.
I heard a gunshot and felt the hunter I was carrying go limp. I watched in horror as grey brain matter dripped onto my face. I tenderly moved the body so I could look at it. The hunters head had been blown up and now dripped out its contents.
I screamed in anger and ran at the rabbit’s leader. He aimed his gun at me and fired. I felt a sharp pain in my leg but kept running. I didn't even slash at the rabbits underneath me instead I stomped them into the dirt not stopping for anything. This man would die for what he had done. Too many of my children had died because of him.
I was only ten feet away from him when he pulled out a sword. It had a pure black blade with streaks of green running through it. I leaped at him but he dodged to the side and slashed my stomach as he landed. I whipped my tail at him but he just dodged once again.
I decided it was time for him to die. I dug my foot into the sand and flung it into the air. A cloud of sand surrounded us. My sense of smell was good enough for me to strike him. I decided that he would suffer for a long while.
I first speared him through the leg making him fall to his knees. Then I slashed his hand, cutting him shallowly so he couldn't bleed out. I started cutting him anywhere, giving him small nicks all over his body. The sand had cleared by then but he was unable to move.
I walked over and shoved him. His head slammed to the ground and I raised a paw over it. Then with one stomp the man I hated the most was dead.
Congratulations. You have killed a fellow competitor and have been awarded with a special Unit. Congratulations you have completed a mini objective. Your exp and biomass have been given to you.
I ignored the notifications and ran toward the fighting. The rabbits were confused when I ran at them but my children were not. 50 of the hunters had died and so had 13 of the soldiers. However, they kept fighting and after an exhausting battle the enemy was dead. I saw a corpse among the others that broke my heart. Tote was dead surrounded by almost thirty rabbit corpses.
I limped over to his body then collapsed next to it in tears. I knew something now. It had once again been proved in my mind. I made a rule for myself. If someone killed one of my children. I would scorch the earth and water the fields with blood. No one was allowed to take my children from me.
