The giant slammed its club down on me. I dodged out of the way but the resulting spray of sand and acidic blood sent me tumbling to the floor. I got up and could feel the acid start working itself into my body.
The giant waited until I got back up before swinging at me again. It seemed like it was just intelligent enough to be able to enjoy slaughter. I was able to avoid the spray of projectiles and was about to dart away when I realized that with its long legs it would be able to catch me easily.
I turned and without giving myself time to think ran straight towards the giant. It seemed surprised before it started grinning and slammed the bone club at me once again. I dodged most of the attack but was clipped in the side.
That brief contact with the club sent me flying through the air with what I assumed were multiple broken ribs. I hit the ground skidding until I came to a stop a few dozen yards away. I got up shakily and started plodding back towards the beast. Every breath I took was like knives stabbing into my lungs. Every step was like a sword going into legs. Every time I blinked my eyes threatened to never open again
And with those thoughts in mind I charged straight at the beast. I bounded forward knowing every second I bought was another second my children got to flee. By the time I had gotten up I had accepted that there was little chance of me walking away alive.
The giant swung at me but I fully dodged it and managed to rip part of its finger off. It screamed so loud I felt blood start to pour out of my ears. I still took the opportunity to sprint forward and start climbing the beast.
It was a relief to know the giant felt pain as that meant I could at least make it have a bad day. It was like a rat attacking a 7 foot tall man who had never skipped a day at the gym.
I started climbing its left leg, digging my claws in as I scurried up. I took the occasional bite of its leg. My goal was simple, if the giant felt pain then
I would make it feel pain like never before. I was going to take the giant's eyes before it took my life.
I reached the torso and tore my claws through its flesh. The giant howled as it desperately tried to swat me away. I stayed close to its body trying to get it to hit itself to kill me.
I reached its face and started tearing in. I ripped off pieces of its cheek and nose. I didn't go near the mouth as it would just chomp down on me. I reached the beast's eye and shoved my tail straight through. I then pulled my tail out and then stabbed it back in.
I roared as loud as I could as i continued to stab the giant over and over. The eye was completely gone by the time the giant grabbed me and threw me to the ground. There was a sickening crunch from me when I landed and I noticed I had snapped my front right leg in half.
I screamed in pain as the giant prepared to stomp me into a paste. It was past eating me instead it was going to kill me for revenge. As I stared at the foot the size of a truck rising into the sky I felt happy. Happy that I had been able to die protecting the things I loved most. I felt happy knowing that my children would be able to live their lives.
As I had my last thoughts I saw something that made me want to cry and scream. Felix was sprinting towards me, eyes filled with rage. I commanded him to run but he ignored me. I mentallly wailed at him to leave and live a happy life but he kept sprinting forward.

The giant was taking its sweet time slowly bringing its food down. With one last scream of despair I looked in horror as Felix ran over and shoved me away. I was shoved away from the foot and I saw Felix look proud for a second before being crushed by the giant.
An explosion of guts and blood covered me as I stared at where my beautiful child had once been.
After staring for what felt like an eternity I felt something take over my body that I felt with every fiber of my being. Rage like a roaring flame enveloped me as I started to see red. I got up hearing loud pops as my bones realigned. I felt myself grow larger and larger as the effects of Frenzy took hold.
By the time my body had stopped growing I was about 15 feet tall and 30 feet long. My tail was now 60 feet long. I could tell these effects were not permanent as I could feel myself slowly shrinking as my rage did as well.
I lunged at the undead shooting my tail right through its chest. It staggered back howling as I ripped into its chest. I stood on my hind legs so I could use my tail, mouth and paws to rip the monster to shreds. The monster grabbed its club and slammed it full force into my side. It cracked the ribs that had regenerated just seconds ago except these did not heal. I spat out blood that I was pretty sure was mine as I got back to biting into its chest. It continued to smash its bone club against me and I quickly grew sick of it. I lunged at its hand and with a snap of my jaws ripped its hand off.
I didnt even allow it to scream as I shot my tail through its throat. It croaked once before falling to the ground. It seems as though its brain turned off because of the overload of pain. I didn't give it a chance to recover as I walked over and started gnawing on its neck. After a minute its head was separated from its body.
My size began rapidly decreasing and after a few seconds I was back to my normal size. My wounds resurfaced and I was pretty sure every single one of my ribs were broken. I had hundreds of tiny holes drilled into me from the amount of acidic blood I was covered with.
While the frenzy ability gave me unimaginable amounts of strength, the con was that all the injuries carried over but didn't shrink. I was barely alive as I trudged toward Felix’s remains. I sank to the ground as I saw that only a femur remained of my firstborn.
I started sobbing, I had failed him. He had sacrificed his life so I could live and now all I could do was cry over his death. There was no one to blame, the monster who killed him was already dead. Now there was just an empty part of me filled with nothing but sadness.
I got up and picked up his one remaining bone with my tail. He would get a burial as he had died a hero. I was already imagining the grand tuom I would build to honor him. I was broken out of my thoughts by Trip brushing against me. He looked at Felix’s remains the same way I did. He rubbed his head against the splattered remains of his brother before turning and walking away.
I followed him and could hear the soft pit pat of Tote and Blue’s feet behind us. We traveled in silence for hours, a somber air surrounding us. After almost a full day of walking we reached our new home.
The beach ended up becoming sheer mountains.Right before it ended the beach combined with the mountains. The beach was filled with large rocks and small caves. In the center sat a stone that almost looked like a pillar. The top was flat and I instantly knew that it was going to be where Felix would be laid to rest. I scrambled on top of it wincing from my wounds. I could barely walk and yet I felt the need to do this.
I placed Felix’s bone on the top of the pillar. The setting sun made the blood-covered bone look like it was made gold. I looked up into the sky, the pink and orange clouds painting a beautiful backdrop for the glowing ocean. Then I howled, I howled to release all the pain, all the despair, all the happiness, all the grief, and all the rage. But not the love, I would never let my love for my children leave.
Trip was the first to join me but once he did Tote and Blue added their voices to the chorus. We howled the whole night until we couldn't anymore. We did so to honor the son who was lost so the others could live. We did so to make sure the world knew that they had lost one of their best. We did so to make sure we never forgot what it means to live in this world. And after all that I got up and went to prepare for my revenge
