After securing the village I had the builders make a fertilization chamber. This village would produce hunters in a steady supply. If we needed to retreat we would have forces ready to help. I wanted to push our momentum so I called Cate and Julius over.
“Hello my Queen!” Cate’s energetic voice rang out as I turned to talk to her. “Hello Cate, I am going to give you and Julius command of a group of soldiers. Cate takes 300 hunters and attacks the western village. Leave not a single human alive. When you're done, stay there and defend it. Julius do the same but for the northern village.”
After giving them orders I wondered what I should do. We cleanly took their land without much problems. The man with magic had been concerned but was killed in the end. I Looked at his half eaten corpse and wondered how the magic in this world worked.
It seemed like he had been able to enhance his sword strikes. I walked over to his sword to examine it. The blade was a pale blue and the hilt was made of solid gold. I decided it was time to get rich. If we were going to become a nation we would need money. My children only had to eat about once a week and we shared all the food. However if I could buy food from other nations then turn the food into a soldier. I shuddered in delight at the thought. This world had no idea how badly they had messed up when they tried fighting me.
Edward Brown’s POV
I stared at the newspaper in shock. It had been almost a month since the massacre of the 12th. I had been hailed as a hero for surviving and warning the kingdom. The king had the 11th and 13th regiment prepare for battle. In the entire kingdom there are 25 regiments. The higher the number the bigger the regiment. However no one questions that the first is the strongest. A unit of 100 magic wielding paladins. They were more commonly known as the royal guard.
I got my mind back on track as I stared at the newspaper. Three villages had fallen. The scouts reported a large number of creatures that matched my description. I felt fear grip its way up my spine. The villages were only 100 miles away. Between us and the enemy was a few cities and one fortress. I shot out of my chair spilling my coffee onto the ground. My wife Avi looked at me in shock. “What's wrong?” She sounded worried so I looked at her and said. “We’re leaving. Pack your bags, I'll get the wagon ready.” She just stared at me as if I had lost my mind. Then she started packing. We had read the same newspaper so she knew what I was running from.
After a few hours we joined the wagon train of refugees fleeing to the west. In a few days we would hit Iron Hold. The most secure city in the kingdom. Home to the king himself.

Onyx’s POV
I looked over my children as we prepared for battle. The humans had sent an army of about 1000 soldiers to destroy. Unfortunately for them we had a scouting network set up and learned of them while they were still as days march away.
They had underestimated our numbers however as we sat at a comfortable 1500. Only 300 of them were soldiers but that didn't matter. We would win this battle. Then we would take our first city.
I had Julius stay hidden nearby with 100 soldiers. Then put my plan into action. I had all my children bury themselves in the ground. Right in the direct path of the enemy army. Once the enemy was literally on top of my children we struck. I charged in and started slamming the enemy to the ground. I saw Cate simply jumping up and down causing hundreds to die.
Unfortunately for us the enemy was prepared. 100 quickly got on their horses and started slaughtering us. They would throw javelins and use long spears to impale us. I was shocked as the soldiers quickly turned the battle from a massacre to a fair fight.
I growled in displeasure and ordered Julius to charge. That's when I saw him. A wizard floating above his soldiers channeling a gigantic fireball. While staring right at me. He hurled it into our ranks killing a 100 in one attack.
I was not going to let this continue. Frenzy took hold as I grew to double my size. I walked through the enemy staring at the wizard. Then I charged. He scrambled out of the way and sent a small fire bolt at me. It seared a hole in my side but I pressed on.
The wizard wasn't paying attention to his surroundings and with a very satisfying crunch became Cate’s snack. I had been expecting a climactic battle instead it had been quick and decisive. I turned away and searched the battlefield.
I saw the enemy cavalry running circles around us. It was time to stop that. I sprinted at them and grabbed a horse with my mouth. I also slapped one to the ground and slit another's throat. The soldiers didn't seem surprised as they all rammed their spears into me holding me in place.
I think they forgot about my tail. I slashed it in a half circle, killing three of them and freeing me. I lunged at the horses and killed a few more before they could run. I ordered Cate to chase them down as I was needed elsewhere. I looked around and once again heard a familiar sound. The sound of a gun. I looked around and saw 50 soldiers armed with muskets. They had formed a barricade with the bodies of my children and shot anything that came close.
The enemy gradually trickled into the defense forming a fortress that we couldn't get into. I walked over to a horse body and picked it up with my mouth. Then I threw it right at them. There was only a second of confusion before it hit them. With the gap in their defense my brood charged in.
I heard a horn and suddenly the battle was over. The soldiers ran and we didn't give chase. They could ambush us if we overextended. I looked at the battlefield covered in corpses and laughed. We had won the first decisive battle. Now we just had to win the war.
