Ch 86 Testing the Focus Shard, Problem Arises

I spent many days finding out the uses for the Focus Shard, Creating more Focus Shards, and crafting more Yellow Seals and Inner Energy Gloves.

It had taken me a while but I had finally figured out how to extract the energy sealed within the Crystal without absorbing it myself or activating it with Inner Energy.

I had carved out a bone blade from a Beast's shoulder blade, and made for a notch in which to insert the Focus Shard in.

I had made myself a goal to make a weapon based on Inner Energy, that didn’t require the user to be an Inner Energy Wielder.

I had failed many times, but eventually I realized after remembering prior experiences, that Inner Energy needed a conductive medium whether it was the energy itself or something it had a reactive relationship with.

I cut out a small thin metal needle from the leftover Inner Energy Dagger and made a small attachment to the Bone Blade.

I also inserted a rod of Experts Yew right through its center and connected it to the small attachment.

With a mechanism, which I added to the handle of the blade, the small attachment used the metal needle to penetrate the Crystal and once it did so Inner Energy would flow Straight through it, into the Experts Yew, and dispersed throughout the Blade.

The Bone Blade itself was not very Conductive to Inner Energy, but the condensed Inner Energy was forced to go through it if it wanted to escape out into the atmosphere and disperse, as it was its nature, once it escaped the confines of the Crystal.

This gave the Bone Blade temporary Inner Energy properties, and the blows it struck with were stronger and more effective at cutting.

I knew someone who was more adept at making weapons, could make the weapons out of a material that was more compatible with Inner Energy, and make it many times more efficient, but right now I was just happy to know that a concept like that could work, even with mostly common materials.

The fact that the Energy was condensed in a visible form was a game changer.

I could not only make weapons more powerful, It also had everyday uses.

With brightness augmenting material put around it, it served as an excellent source of light.

It had a hard time creating heat, but when the energy was accumulated in enough quantity it was able to boil water.

The trick was funneling the Energy into one concentrated spot.

In the same manner things could be set on fire as well, even Experts Yew when it was over saturated with more Inner Energy than it could handle at a time, would set itself ablaze.

And the fire It produced was exceptionally fierce as well.

I had seen enough of what I needed to see in order to confirm that Inner Energy in a condensed harvestable state was more than adequate to fulfill a society’s energy needs.

After my testing I continued arduously working on my production process.

Pumping out Yellow Seals, Inner Energy Gloves and Focus Shards as fast as I could make them.

Eventually I did get close to finishing out the set number of Seals and Gloves I had planned to make.

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

But making the Focus Shards was turning out to be a horrible exhausting nightmare.

After many days of hard work I had only managed to pump out 200 Focus Shards; which sounded like a lot, but considering the plans I had for them and the fact that I was making 10 crystals at a time it was very little to show for.

The fact that I was basically the main source of energy from which the Crystals drew from, meant that the Crystals had to wait for me to refill my relatively small energy reserves after they had sucked dry.

As it turned out, I wasn’t a very reliable source of Energy for the future economic foundation of Martial Citadel, so I had to come up with a better plan.

Another problem had emerged in my mind, I was only trying to jumpstart the propagation of Inner Shards as an energy and economic foundation, but eventually the City and its partners would have to start to make the Focus Shards themselves, or else suffer from energy shortage, since, as far as I could tell, these kinds of Crystals weren’t found naturally in nature or at least in the Country.

For them to start doing that I would have to reveal my recipe of creation and by extension risk revealing my other crafting secrets.

Even though the Energy Imbuing Method of the Toltemic wasn’t too complicated, it wasn’t knowledge that anyone knew, at least in the vicinity of the City, and therefore it was my secret knowledge.

As a Ranker any advantageous information I possessed was not something I should divulge so easily, that was more than clear to me.

My appreciation for the City wasn’t enough that I would put myself at a disadvantage, especially now that I was part of the Ranker world.

Slowly I came to a realization I would have to come up with an alternative way to create the Focus Shards.

One that didn’t Involve the use of Brightplant, Animal Blood, and Grounds Will Tree, since I had a feeling those ingredients where the key to the Success of all my special Crafting endeavors.

Unfortunately I had no choice but to reveal my use of Clay and Charcoal, since without those two I had no hope of being able to replicate such a feat.

Their stabilizing and reactive properties were essential when messing with these kinds of ingredients and forces.

Hopefully they were common enough that the forces of the City won't think too much of them, but of course thats only if I'm successful with my second effort.

I started to get a headache, making spectacular energy filled Items was starting to feel like a bleak dream if I had no access to the Brightplant.

From long nights of contemplation I had realized just how important Brightplant was in all my Crafting recipes.

It was like the glue that held everything together.

I knew it had properties that made the process of energy Imbuement more likely, I just didn't know what the exact details were.

For something as non reactive as Inner Energy it was even more important, I was sure It was the ingredient that in a way gave Inner Energy the instructions to bind itself to whatever Brightplant was mixed in with.

I needed to find something that had a similar effect.
