Ch 53 Rejection

The next day I decided to get up early before most of the City woke up, and visit a street that had places of interest for my Martial journey.

I decided to see if I could join one of the Martial Arts Schools, Academies or Institutions that resided in one of the City’s biggest streets, Martial Hero Singno’s Street.

I had scoped out through the Guider a couple of Organizations in particular that looked promising and didn’t sound like they were selling trash.

There was Martial Sage School of Martial Arts, Nature's Way Martial Arts Academy, and Peak Martial Body Institution of Body Cultivation.

The difference between the label of each type of Organization was in the way they approached the study of Martial Arts.

Schools usually focused on one philosophy and style, and compartmentalized the teaching of said subject through different teachers.

Academies were similar to Schools in compartmentalization, and various teachers, but focused on more styles, and oftentimes a merging of philosophies.

Institutions focused on the research of training methods, medicine, nutrition, and martial dynamics above all in their practice of Martial Arts.

Then you had Dojos, Gyms, and Clans.

Dojos were like Schools, usually established by someone famous and skilled in one Martial Style, their focus was on live exercises, sparring, and combat.

Duels, Challenges, and Dojo hunting were common among Dojo disciples.

Gyms were open communities for people to come and practice and compare their Martial Arts, usually more common for the Citadels, more casual Martial Artists or its poorest citizens, and looked at as the weakest type of Martial Organization.

Martial Clans also existed in Martial Citadel, and even outside it.

Exactly the same as all other Clans in Volunterra and Potestera, their power source was tied or only passed on through bloodline or marriage.

The Clans here all had an ancestral Martial Art they protected with their lives, in fact they could be considered Kemoro’s main enemies.

From the Map's description, each of the Organizations I had chosen were renowned for their advancements in certain aspects of Martial Arts.

Martial Sage School, was well known for their focus on Martial Arts based combat strategy and tactics.

As a matter of fact, Kemoro “borrowed” a lot of their martial philosophies when creating his combat method.

Then there was Nature's Way Academy, they focused on Martial Arts inspired by Nature and training inspired by Nature; It was rumored they had a special mystic technique, that allowed them to reach great heights in Martial Enlightenment.

Kemoro liked their techniques the most out of all Martial Organizations in Martial Citadel.

Then there was Peak Martial Body Institution, their Body Cultivation Arts where legendary in the Martial Arts community, only second to Unyielding Martial Will Dojo’s Body Cultivation Arts.

It was said they could take a normal man, and turn him into a full blown Superhuman, once the man completed one of their Cultivation Arts to a decent level.

Heros from this institution were known to deflect bullets, be almost unbeatable in hand to hand combat, and achieve record physical feats without ever having to modify their bodies.

Kemoro said, “they tempered the body beyond how a blacksmith tempers a steel blade.”

The downside was that their disciple mortality rate was quite high.

I didn’t like that last part, and for that same reason it was my last choice to visit if things didn’t go well, but having a body that deflected bullets was not something I could pass up on without consideration.

I hurried on to the street where all three Institutions resided, and found it to be nearly empty as I had hoped.

Only City workers and the extreme morning birds were active.

I made my way to the courtyard and front office of Martial Sage School.

As I had expected they were already open and fully operational despite the early hours.

I approached the person at the front desk with a smile and introduced myself.

“Hello there, I'm a Martial Artists looking to join an Organization I was wondering what your enrollment fees and requirements to join were.”

“Certainly we are always looking for young disciples, the enrollment fee is 700 gold coins for a year, and the only requirement is to pass an entry test that is supervised by one of our head Martial Teachers, if you’d be so kind to tell me what your name is young Expert, so we can get you started in the process.”

Damn 700 gold coins was definitely up there in terms of civilian wealth.

A person could probably live years off that money comfortably, if they had no aspirations as an Expert.

That was more than what my Martial Suit had cost, luckily I was prepared and had brought just around 1000 gold coins just for this purpose.

Before when I had walked around the City, I had noticed some of these other Organizations that were undoubtedly of less quality dare to charge, all the way up to 500 gold coins.

I was starting to see why the City was going broke and we’re lacking young blood.

Why would an aspiring Expert waste his time in expensive, timely, and lacking Martial Arts when for the same price he could probably get himself a decent weapon, pet, or physical procedure.

Still this was the path I had already begun.

There was no point in second guessing myself, besides 700 gold coins was doable for me.

“Certainly my name is Guso, a Martial Artist from the South of the Country.”

As soon as I said my name, the lady's face and demeanor changed.

“I'm sorry our School isn’t open for people who cause trouble, I will kindly ask you to look elsewhere for Martial Instruction. Have a good day.”

What the lady said left me stunned.

I wanted to retort back but I didn't want to be where I wasn’t wanted.

700 gold coins was too much for their School anyways!

I didn't say anything, and just gave her a nasty look before I headed on over to Nature's Way Academy.

There I tried to change up the process a bit and make it obvious I had money.

Things went swimmingly until the time came for me to reveal my name.

And yet again I received the same cold shoulder I had received before.

No even worse this time the guy was getting ready to kick me out by force, and things would've gotten out of hand had I not had the foresight to leave without starting a pointless fight.

Only one of the Organizations I had considered was left, and it was the one I had least wanted to join, but beggars couldn’t be choosers so I decided to go in hoping for the best.

To my dismay, this time, once Peak Martial Body Institution found out my name, they proceeded to scream horrible words at ,me and kick me out in the worst way possible.

They used words like disgraceful trash, and thieving rat, with such hate it made me wonder what I had done to them.

I was starting to get frustrated, not because I was getting rejected, but because of how I was getting rejected.

What the hell had I done.

In my frustration I decided to visit every other Organization in the street.

At this point I didn't care which one.

Very soon I found myself getting turned down wherever I went.

I was pretty sure word had gotten out that I was in the street.

The Schools started to come out of their gate to reject me before I even got in.

It was a damn near conspiracy.

I was getting ready to curse out the whole City but soon the reason for my misfortune revealed itself.
