Upon first entering the building the first thing I noticed was that there were screens everywhere, showing what seemed to be fights between individuals.
They were extraordinary; I had never seen anything like it; they were even more spectacular than the one I saw between Likus and War Sage Kinis.
That you could go to Seeier Organizations and see these kinds of duels was incredible, no wonder the building was constantly packed.
It became immediately apparent to me that this served the purpose of providing valuable learning experience to Rankers.
It was incredibly considerate that they even did this.
Everyone was watching the duels with undivided attention.
Those who knew each other talked about the characters in the fight with ardent passion.
Some criticized, others analyzed, and some just cheered on the Ranker they were rooting for.
It seemed not just commoners were passionate fans of Rankers, even among Rankers themselves there were cult followings.
Through one screen in particular I saw a fight that caught my attention.
I didn’t know much about the Ranker world, but there were some Rankers whose fame permeated throughout all of the civilian world despite the mystery.
Within that particular screen I saw one of my inspirations in wanting to become a Ranker engaged in a life or death battle.
Unwilling the pinnacle of humanity sent forth a rain of highly destructive strikes against his foe.
His opponent was a weird looking sentient named Dekas Morin.
It seemed like they were evenly matched as both phenoms summoned forth unfathomable power in their strikes that leveled all of their surroundings.
It seemed both Rankers were some kind of super warrior types as although their moves weren’t flashy they were extremely fast, ruthless, and destructive.
The battle seemed to drag on for a while, I lost track of time as I watched both titans battle it out.
Eventually Unwillings vast reserves of energy and stamina began to become apparent and his opponent started to fall behind and took more damage as result.
In a crucial moment of the battle, which could barely be detected with the naked eye, right as Unwilling was going to land a decisive blow Dekas Morin activated a weird technique and fled away from the battlefield.
People in the building immediately erupted in cheerful shouts, it was obvious that such an occurrence signified Unwillings sure victory.
That the fight had ended in such a way brought joy to my heart as well.
I felt the urge to stay in the building for as long as possible to watch the fights within the screens, but suddenly I remembered I had a certain objective I had to accomplish.
After I finished watching the fight I noticed the establishment was more like a lounge than anything.
Away from the screen was a cafe area where you could eat and hang out.
There was a library of sorts in another corner and on the far end of the building what seemed to be reception booths.
I figured that was probably how you could communicate with them if you had any Ranker-related business with them.
It seemed the Organization provided a safe space for Rankers to talk and communicate with each other which allowed for a more comfortable environment beyond what was outside.
Rankers here were more lively, talkative, and bold.
It seemed that whatever they were worried about outside there was no worry in here.
Although I didn’t mind getting Ranker friends I wasn’t good with people or small talk for that matter; I decided to head towards the booths to handle the business I came here to do.
Once I gained access to one of the booths a clerk girl immediately greeted me.
She asked me for my Ranker Tag, the one I had taken from Biras of the Big Hand Tribe.
Ever since I got it I hardly ever looked at it and didn’t know what it was for.
It only seemed to be my connection to the Seeier once I achieved something great or won an important duel.
I didn’t think much of it.
Once the clerk confirmed the tag and the information within, she welcomed me again as D Ranker #490,000, I was surprised by that number.
Right away I immediately inquired about all the features of the tag.
The tag had multiple features, the moment I had defeated the opposing Ranker and gotten within a certain perimeter, it bonded to my body until I was dead; either by being killed or dying of natural causes.
If I so wished I could at any moment check my place in the Ranker list or the place of anybody else with certain limitations.
I also had limited access to some of their information, usually only what they wanted to reveal or what already was public knowledge.
Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.
I could use the Tag to issue an Official Ranker Duel Challenge if the opponent was within range and visible.
I could check the local area for Ranker-approved establishments such as crafters, medics, cooks, vendors, concocters, masters, retired experts, and almost any other help you could think of.
She explained that I could create alliances with other Rankers and also use it as a secure communication device with said allies.
Finally, as a gift from them, it functions as a portable storage unit up to the size of a large safe; it is guaranteed to be safe up until my death.
Although it was convenient it wasn’t very battle efficient and only worked as a quality of life improvement for travel.
It had many more minor features but she was sure that I could figure them out.
I was baffled I had no idea the tag had so many features and I wasn’t using any of them, just that storage feature would’ve been a huge help.
Could I be any stupider?!
I asked how I could access these features and she replied through voice command or touch.
Next, I asked why their files were so sought after.
What she told me left me baffled.
The Seeier Organization-approved files were the most accurate and up-to-date information in the Ranker world, people would pay almost any kind of money for the information it provided and so they were priced accordingly.
That I already knew there was no surprise there.
But the information it carries was not simply what was written down on paper, encoded within was an even more in-depth profile and information trove that gave you immense and powerful knowledge and insight on said file subject.
The only way to access it was either through a special decoder device or an information imprinter.
Through the imprinter, one could inherit the knowledge and insight within the file instantaneously allowing you to access its contents as if it were your information.
All Seeier Organization knowledge and Insight were quality-guaranteed.
When experts used the word inherit, it usually meant to make part of oneself, it was a very powerful phrase and one people didn’t use lightly.
The most common way masters and experts passed down their knowledge and insight was through direct teaching through words, actions, and guidance.
But there were more fantastical ways of getting the same effect.
The power to instantaneously pass down an inheritance was indeed mighty.
The fact that these Files offered an option that was akin to this was mind-boggling.
This was some sort of advanced technique, art, or technology for sure.
Something only the Seeier Organization would be able to commonly use.
I asked where I could obtain this information imprinter, the girl told me I could get it with her.
The problem was the item cost 500 platinum coins.
I didn’t have anywhere near that amount of money, she also told me I couldn’t borrow one as information imprinters only worked on a single individual for safety reasons.
I thought she was lying and felt like it was a money-grabbing scam, but I wasn't sure I was brave enough to test if I was right.
I decided to change the topic as I had given up on the information imprinter for now.
I decided to ask how much the Files were worth.
Her answer also gave me a headache, each file was worth at least 300 Platinum coins with prices ranging to the thousands even up to ten-thousands.
Suddenly I felt like the guy who sold the map to me actually scammed me and not the other way around.
I wanted to throw up.
Who knew I was carrying such a treasure I decided not to take it out in front of anyone ever again.
My last question was regarding the events.
She informed me the tag would inform me of any nearby events if I was close to one, there would also be tournaments, competitions, treasure hunts, and local and worldwide missions I could access just by being a Ranker.
So the tag even had that I was an idiot!
After finishing my business in the Seeier Organization I watched a couple more battles on the screen from which I learned a lot, afterwards, I decided to leave the building.
The event was scheduled for the whole day but at a certain time all Seeier official establishments would leave and the protection would be gone as well so most Rankers would leave way before that.
I decided to leave quite early as well and I asked the map to direct me through the safest route out of there, happy that I had accomplished most of my objectives and had a new perspective for my journey.
