Ch 63 Progress, The Plan Moves Forward

After that day, consistently after my daily training regimen, I made time to go out and hunt a specific creature I had tracked with the Guider in time prior.

I decided to knock out all the creatures of value that were closest to me first, before I finally moved on to the ones that were further away.

Eventually I made it to where I had accumulated a good amount of creature parts, filling up a crate I had built for storage that I put in the Old Man's backyard.

The Old Man saw all that I did, and although he did seem a bit curious he said nothing on the matter, and just continued to train me in the ways of his method.

Eventually his training regiments paid off, and I finally managed to sense and detect the flow of Inner Energy inside of my body.

The feeling of that experience was hard to describe.

It was a very subtle and almost invisible force that flowed in and out of the body along with the breath.

I was still not skilled enough to sense where in my body it went, and how it behaved once inside, but I definitely felt a very warm intense feeling inside the top part of my stomach, as if there was a small fire there.

The Old Man was happy, I had managed to hit the milestone just at the right time to stay on track with his training.

Soon the Old Man had me doing a combination of breathing motions, in conjunction with movement exercises, that were supposed to help me understand and feel the movement of Inner Energy better within my body.

Although it was less boring than the previous training, it wasn’t exactly exciting stuff, so I still maintained my schedule of intermittent breaks and left enough time for some early evening hunts.

Eventually I changed up my hunting strategy, no longer focusing on the green icon on the Map, as most of the ones I found interesting of that color, had been hunted by me in a 15 mile radius.

The rest of the greens were just too far away and undoable, without having to plan an all day trip.

Something that the old man probably wouldn’t be too keen on.

I started to focus on the blue icons, which were indications of well known gathering locations for certain animals.

I decided to limit the fauna icon, only to whatever blue icon I chose to visit for that day, and instead of wasting my time only hunting for a possible encounter with the creatures, I decided to also turn on the flora filter around the same area as the blue icon.

I figured it was a good idea to multitask, and go herb and material hunting while I was out there looking for any rare beasts.

The icons functioned exactly the same as the fauna ones, giving a profile report of the flora of the area, to the Guiders best ability, according to what data it had available to it.

It usually described its natural properties and usefulness in terms of harvesting.

To my joy, I found a couple plants around many of the blue icons that gave off a Magical Energy signature, something I had not expected from plants.

Maybe I could harvest more Magical Energy from plants, than I could from Magical Beasts facilitating my magical weapon forging ideas.

The beasts that I would encounter, when hunting through the blue icon method, were usually herd or social creatures.

Some of the most common beasts I would encounter were Wild Green Hide Pigs, Four Horned Deer, and small companies of Sneaky Hounds.

These were among some of the most popular hunting game for most common citizens, and although they weren’t the rarest of creatures they always went for a good price on the market.

Even the Toltemic loved these creatures for their abundance, and showed me how to completely harvest these creatures for maximum value.

I had to be somewhat careful when encountering the groups of Sneaky Hounds, they weren’t like the Wolf type family of Canines that hunted in large packs, and were widely respected and feared, but they were still formidable predators, and highly adaptable and astute.

I did my best to take them out from a distance as best I could, in an effort to prevent direct confrontation.

It usually worked and if I missed they would only get startled and run away to my relief.

Eventually through my outdoor activities and foraging, I managed to accumulate a good amount of herbs, plants, fruits, vegetables and roots, all of a good quality; as I knew despite having freedom to store stuff at Yupows house, his place wasn’t extremely big and space was limited; so I did pick and choose what I grabbed, despite there being an abundance of green resources that the Guider identified uses for.

I picked up stuff that the Guider had the most specific details on, or stuff I knew how to use from things the Toltemic had taught me; as well as Magical Plants, or stuff that was extremely rare, like the Clerical Root which was a good healing material by itself, or as a medicinal ingredient.

As well as the Body Forging Grass, a plant that worked as a good supplement for intense training, increasing efficiency by many folds.

After several weeks of hunting and foraging, I finally had enough resources to set my business plan in action.

A last detail was collecting specific woods from the forest, that would be good in my weapon forging process.

But the Guider would make that easy for me as well.
