91st Night: Third Great Mafia War?

91st Night: Third Great Mafia War?

With Silver Bullet running wild and the attacks on Pearl St. Claire and Lucas Emilio it became obvious to everyone in the city that a Great War was brewing. There was also the fact that the Black Dogs were crazily clashing with Silver Bullet, the city was in chaos. However, just when everyone thought it couldn’t get any worse, the unexpected happened.

The mayor, Benito Mussolini had suddenly resigned from his post and was nowhere to be found!

“I never expected Benito to just quit like that. Is this a trap?”

Fraus read the paper and asked.

“I don’t know, but Benito and Cesare are supposed to be on the same side so it could be a distraction.”

Griselda replied. In front of her was a laptop with a flash drive inserted into it.

“Oh, so this is what Fraus stole from Pearl?”

Reina and Amelia were looking at what was being displayed on the laptop. It was a bunch of files with blueprints of various buildings, spreadsheets with countless personal data on various people, and what seemed like account information.

“This is Pearl’s personal data bank. It possesses information that would be useful in a fight to take the city. On here she has information on various warehouses and safe houses of not only Silver Bullet and Golden Fly but even the Black Dogs as well. If we use it correctly we can swoop in and rob all the other factions of everything they have.”

Fraus explained.

“I went through great lengths to get my hands on this. Years of work.”

“I see why pearl wanted to kill you so badly. This is practically her trump card.”

Reina was impressed with the amount of intel Pearl was able to gather on her enemies. This was surely hard to obtain.

“So here’s the plan.”

Griselda drew everyone’s attention to her.

“The only gang that’s active at the moment is Silver Bullet who is preoccupied with the Black Dogs. Pink Spider and Golden Fly have yet to make their move but they’ll surely retaliate to the attacks on their bosses. This will most definitely lead to the Third Great Mafia war. Our job is to prepare for the war that’s to come by robbing and weakening our enemies as much as possible. Our enemies have quantity on their side, but we have quality on ours. We must make use of that and get a head start.”

Everyone nodded.

“We will now assign everyone with their duties.”

In the woodlands outside of Cugine City. There was a silver car parked in the open with someone leaning on it and smoking a cigarette. This person who looked uncharacteristically shabby was the former mayor of Cugine City, Benito Mussolini.

“They’re late.”

He looked at his watch and said.

“No, I’ve been here for a while now.”

He suddenly saw a black fog appear in front of him. From it, he saw someone appear. This person was dressed in a black tuxedo, wore a skull mask, and had long white hair and dark skin. From the body line, this person was a woman.

“I was just observing you to see if you’re indeed Benito.”

Benito didn’t seem shocked by the masked woman’s appearance. He leisurely took the cigarette from his mouth and blow out some smoke.

“Do I look that different to you?”

“Yes. The Benito I know is a man who could only be described as sophisticated. The current you seem like you don’t have a care in the world.”

The woman circled around Benito as if examining him.

“I’m curious. Is this what you’re really like?”

“Who knows? People have many sides to them, I’m just showing the world a different side of me that they haven’t seen before.”

The woman nodded in agreement.

“Now I see why Thanatos was interested in you. Looks like it was the right decision to volunteer to be the one that monitors you.”

The woman spoke with a cheerful voice.

“I see. Then I’ll take your words as a compliment.”

Benito stretches his hand out.

“So, where’s the thing that you guys promised to bring me?”

“Impatient are we? It’s not like the war kicked off already. You can still take it easy.”

“War? I have no time to fight in stupid wars. I want to capture this city in one swoop. Why fight a drawn-out battle when you can crush your enemy before he can even react?”

“So you’re saying that you still want to prevent a Third Mafia War? Hmm…..I don’t know how I feel about that.”

“Anput, are you going to help me or not?”

“Of course I’m still going to help you. After all, what I’m about to give you will surely make things interesting.”

Anput took out something from inside of her tux. It was a flute made from a black bone. This was Benito’s first time seeing this flute.

“Here.”

Anput threw the flute and he caught it.

“……..”

He stared at it with a confused expression.

“What’s this?”

“A present from Thanatos. It’s called the Undead Flute.”

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

“Undead Flute?”

Benito started examining the flute. The material it was made from was a bone, but he couldn’t tell what kind of creature it came from. There was also the fact that it was pitch black. What creature has black bones?

“Could it be from the Dead Sea?”

“No. Thanatos made it himself. Don’t look down on it, you’re holding something countless people would fight for. Go on, give it a blow. I’m sure you’ll realize it’s value then.”

Benito examines the flute once again before placing his mouth on it.

*Craw!*

“Huh? What kind of sound is that?”

Benito looked at the flute again.

“Hm?”

That’s when he felt an odd presence beside him. He looked to his side and his eyes immediately widened.

“?!”

His face paled and his body started to tremble.

“Well, amazing right?”

Anput sounded like she enjoyed his reaction.

“T-This…Impossible…..How?”

“Hey, Hey. What are you saying, Benito? Impossible? I can’t believe you actually used that word knowing full well who we are.”

She placed her hand on her chest.

“There’s nothing impossible for us. If it hasn’t been done yet, we will do it eventually.”

“This….”

Benito looked at the entity beside him again. After a while, the shock and horror changed to delight.

“This is exactly what I needed! With this, I’ll reign at the top!”

He couldn’t hide his excitement. He even looked like he wanted to jump for joy. He gripped the flute in his hand tightly and grinned.

“Looks like you’re satisfied with our gift.”

“Satisfied? I’m more than satisfied.”

He lifted the flute over his head.

“I’ve won!”

Anput nodded while looking at him.

(Well, this will only change the nature of the Third Mafia War, not prevent it.)

She thought.

“Either way, this will be fun.”

Cugine City. Golden Fly’s Territory.

“Wow, you’re pretty amazing when it comes to disguises.”

Fraus was walking with an elderly man who was using a cane to walk. Believe it or not, this man was actually Reina.

“Thanks, But is it really alright for you to walk around without disguising yourself?”

“Nah, I’m the least known member of White Tiger. I normally act behind the scenes.”

“Yet, Tony Gambino knows who you are.”

“Well, he’s different. I had a run-in with him before I worked for Griselda.”

“A run-in?”

“I tried to rob him after a night of passion, but I failed. That was how I used to get by. Sleeping with people and then robbing them of all they had.”

“I see. So that’s why you were the perfect candidate to go undercover in the Pink Spiders. You were already a prostitute so you didn’t need to act.”

“Former prostitute.”

Fraus added.

“I left that life after I was saved by Griselda. She saved me from Tony and took me in.”

“Why risk angering a Don for you?”

“I asked her the same thing. She said that because she had always wanted someone to save her back then, so she couldn’t help it.”

“Does that mean she too was…”

Fraus shook her head.

“Griselda wasn’t a prostitute….She suffered a much dark past…..Anyway, this is the place.”

They stopped in front of an apartment building.

“According to Pearl’s data, Lucas hid a large sum of cash in four of the rooms in this building. It’s apparently his emergency fund. Our job is to steal that money for ourselves.”

Fraus explained.

“That’s easier said than done. The entire building is filled with enemies. I think they are around 50 of them.”

Reina focused her senses at the building.

“Did you use Sonar?”

Reina nodded.

“Can’t you use it?”

Fraus shook her head.

“I can use Future Sight and Link though.”

“So that’s three Regal Powers between the two of us. It would be ideal if either of us could’ve used Ajna. That way we’d be able to get a better read of our opponents.”

“Are they strong?”

“None of them are stronger than either of us, but their strength isn’t something to laugh at either. It will definitely be challenging to rob this place.”

“We are the ones who are most fit for silently robbing someone. You’re different but I’m not the combat type. If we attack them in the open and other Golden Fly members get wind of what’s happening and rush here, I’ll only become a burden to you.”

“I know.”

Reina looked at her and smiled.

“But don’t worry. I said that it will be challenging but not impossible. Your Animus allows you to trick one's senses right?”

Fraus nodded.

“It’s called False Cover. However, it can’t be used to trick that many people. Five is my limit.”

“That’s enough. You were able to even deceive Rory and hid your comrades in plain sight in the mansion. Then it will be effective here.”

The men who stormed the mansion when Fraus left the men didn’t just suddenly appear. They were there all the time. It’s just that Fraus used her Animus to trick Rory and girls’ senses so that they don't perceive them.

“Here’s what I want you to do.”

A few minutes later a knock came from the entrance of the building. When one of the men inside opened the door to see who it was, they saw a woman and an elderly man with a cane.

“Good afternoon. I’m currently looking for a place to rent for me and my grandfather. Could you tell me if there’s-”

“There’s no apartment that’s free at the moment. Please try somewhere else.”

“I see.”

The woman and the elderly man smiled and walked away. The man stood at the doorway and watched them closely before closing the door.

“Well?”

He turned to his comrade who was standing at the window still observing the woman.

“There doesn’t seem to be anything weird about them. They went to the apartment building across the street after leaving here.”

“Keep your eye on them. We can’t afford to make any mistakes.”

“Yes.”

Meanwhile, Fraus was smiling while walking with “Reina” beside her.

“Reina really is impressive. She came up with such a plan instantly. All I need to do is walk around a bit before going to the designated area.”

Let’s rewind a bit.

“Here’s what I want you to do. There are only four people keeping watch on this side of the building. I want you to use your Animus on me before we head over there. If you do it in front of them there’s a chance that they’ll notice the change.”

“What do you want to do?”

“We’ll act like relatives looking for an apartment to rent. I just need them to open the door, once they do I’ll slip in. Make it so that they’ll think I’m still in front of them. I have my own ways to stay invisible so don’t worry.”

“Why not just wait close by and sneak in the moment they open the door?”

“Who knows if they have ways to enter and leave the apartment without going through the front door. I’ll be waiting forever, plus there’s a chance that more people might come over and increase the security. So we need to act now before that happens. All I need is a chance to slip in. The other places I can use to enter the building is heavily guarded. Only the front door has a small amount of people protecting it. They’re probably using a cover to not draw attention to the building. If that’s the case, they’ll definitely open the door if we knock. After all, no one expects for the enemy to come through the front door.”

“But can you handle 50 people by yourself?”

Reina smiled.

“Who do you think I am? I’m the leader of the great Boomslang.”

Present time. Reina was currently using Mirage Step to blend in with the surroundings and move through the building.

(The first room is just up ahead.)

She drew a dagger and spread her senses to inside the room. There were around 10 people in the room. She threw the dagger that had a wire tied to the handle and made it hit the door and drew it back. The men inside heard the knock and cautiously stepped out. Reina took that chance to slip inside the room.

“There’s no one there?”

The man who opened door looked around with a confused expression before re-entering the room.

“?!”

When he looked inside, he saw his comrades all gagged and wrapped in wires.

“What the hell?!”

“Shh…”

Suddenly he heard a voice behind him. He tried to turn around but he felt that something was wrapped around his neck. He looked down and saw that it was a thin wire.

“Don’t move or say anything. Otherwise, the head comes off.”

Reina whispered in his ear.

“I thought that this was going to be harder but it looks like I underestimated how much I’ve grown since I’ve left the Marigold Kingdom. If it’s like this I can definitely kill 100 of you guys without making a sound.”

A grin appeared on her face.

“Looks like hanging around a monster will make you a monster too.”

At the same time in a wildland 200 kilometers away from Cugine City. A bloodied man with dark skin and white hair leaned on a tree breathing heavily. His clothes were reduced to rags and barely covered his private area. He was practically naked. This man was the Twilight King Lucian.

“I must say that I wasn’t disappointed. I heard about your situation but never thought that you can push me this far with your powers sealed.”

He looked at the man laying in a pool of blood in front of him. He was dressed in rags as well and had countless wounds across his body. This was Rory.

Lucian stood up and approached Rory.

“I guess it’s time to end this. Don’t you agree, Aniket?”
