“Salvatore Riina?”
Rory thought about the name but he couldn’t recall ever hearing it before.
“If you didn’t know about this city then the chances of you knowing about Salvatore is slim.”
Pearl said seeing his expression.
“Salvatore was a monster, to say the least. A lot of people, Beast Emperors included, thought that he was destined to be an emperor.”
“Oh? Then he must’ve been quite something. Tell me, was he evolved?”
Pearl didn’t answer immediately it seemed that Salvatore was a traumatic memory.
“Forget I asked.”
Rory decided to change the topic.
“I heard a funny rumor once.”
“Rumor?”
“Yeah. I heard that the Three Dons were originally best friends who grew up together.”
“It’s true.”
Pearl answered immediately.
“I wasn’t born here. My parents lived in the woodlands among a village of high elves, who accepted them when they were on the run. They came here when I was around two to find work. However, they died in a gas explosion at the factory they worked when I was only six. I met those two, Lucas and Tony around that time.”
Despite grimacing when recalling her parents' death, just mentioning meeting Tony and Lucas made her smile. This didn’t miss Rory’s eyes.
“It doesn’t look like you had an ordinary falling out. You don’t look like someone talking about her enemies but a girl reminiscing about her friends.”
Rory smiled.
“It looks like this whole Three Dons thing is more complicated than it seems.”
At the same time, outside of Spider Banking. A man dressed in black and white and holding a briefcase stood across the street looking at the building. He was the man known as the Twilight King, the bounty hunter acknowledged by the Sacred Army, Lucian Erebus.
“……….”
He silently stared at the building as if he was observing something. After a while, he showed a bright smile.
“Found you.”
“?!”
Rory suddenly stood up in Pearl’s office.
“What’s wrong?”
“……..”
He turned around and looked out the tinted windows. He looked around and spotted a man dressed in and black and white tuxedo. It was Lucian.
“Pearl, come here for a bit.”
“What is it?”
Pearl walked over to the window and Rory pointed at Lucian who was across the street with a smile on his face.
“Do you recognize that man?”
“…….”
Pearl looked at Lucian with a confused expression.
“He does look familiar.”
“Think hard and try and remember.”
Pearl noticed that Rory was a bit flustered and felt that she should try and help him out. So she looked at Lucian and tried her best to remember.
“Ah!”
Her hard work paid off.
“Lucian Erebus the Twilight King!”
“Did you say Erebus?”
Pearl nodded.
“He’s a famous bounty hunter. They say that his strength rivals a General in the Sacred Army.”
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
(A General?)
Rory nodded while looking at Lucian.
(Makes sense. In my prime, I was in-between a Sacred General and Lieutenant General….This guy is indeed above me in strength. If we fought I would lose 7 out 10 times.)
“I wonder why someone like that is….”
Pearl immediately realized something.
“He’s here for your bounty?”
She saw that Rory had a very serious expression and thought that was the case.
“I don’t think he’s here for my bounty. This is something personal.”
A dangerous grin appeared on Rory’s face, which frightened Pearl. The aura around was similar to a beast which reminded her of the man who traumatize her years ago.
“Pearl, I’m sorry.”
Lucian and Rory has similar wild grins on their faces.
“Looks like I have to break our promise.”
He drew a circle on the glass and that portion of the glass was cut clean and fell down and shattered on the ground.
“I might have to wreck this city after all.”
He stepped through the window and had half of his body outside the building.
“Rory, wait!”
Pearl tried to grab him but she was too slow. Rory jumped outside side.
“If we don’t meet again, take care.”
*Bam!*
He shot through the air like a rocket causing an explosive sound to ring out. He quickly appeared in front of Lucian and prepared to throw a kick.
“?!”
However, before he could fully swing his leg, Lucian’s forearm was pressing on his neck. He was hit with a lariat. At that moment it felt that time froze for the two of them. Rory has yet to feel the force of the attack he was hit with.
“Consider this a greeting.”
*Bam!*
Rory was flung into to the air and Lucian was right behind him. He slammed his fists in Rory’s stomach and turned him into a rocket.
*Bam!*
All the windows in the surrounding buildings shattered and hurricane-like winds blew countless people off their feet. Pearl looked and realized that Rory was nowhere to be seen. She soon realized what happened when Lucian flew outside the city leaving a white path in the air.
“Rory was punched outside the city?!”
Same time somewhere in the city. Someone was looking up at the sky observing the white streak of light that was stretching across. It was a tall muscular dark-skinned man with golden hair and eyes. He looked human and was dressed in a dazzling white suit with a golden fly on the back that sparkled under the sun.
“Don, is something the matter?”
The man was walking with a group of well-dressed individuals. One of them asked him such a question after seeing him staring in the sky.
“No, something just caught my attention.”
The man replied while turning his head from the sky.
“Have you’ve found them yet?”
“Yes. They’re inside that apartment.”
One of the men pointed at the apartment across the street from them.
“I see.”
The man suddenly leaped across the road and landed on the other side of the street. He pulled his arm back and threw a punch.
*BOOM!*
The entire building shook and thick cracks spread across it like glass and everything started crumbling down. People started panicking and trying their best to escape. Waves of dust spread out but neither it or the falling debris could dirty his clothes. He stood there calmly with his hands in his pocket.
“Ugh….”
After everything came crumbling down, several groans could be heard coming from under the debris. The man started walking on the debris ignoring the limbs of people trying to get out. He walked straight over to where he saw a thick arm and pulled out the person who was attached to it.
It was a bald-headed black man. He was covered in blood from head to toe.
“Ricky, long time no see.”
“Lucas Emilio….”
The man, one of the Three Dons, Lucas looked at the man and smiled.
“Ricky, you stole some of my products. Where are they? If you answer honestly, I’ll leave your family alone.”
Lucas smiling face and beaming golden eyes made Ricky feel like there was no oxygen around him. As if he was in deep space.
“I sold it!”
“To who?”
“El Blancas! I sold it to the El Blancas!”
“El Blancas?”
Lucas nodded. Without saying anything more he threw Ricky up in the air and smashed his head like a watermelon with his fist. He then wiped off his hand with a handkerchief and turned to face his men behind him.
“Send I message to El Blancas. They have until tomorrow to give me back my drugs and pay me for emotional distress. If they refuse they can no longer do business in my territory and I’ll also put out a bounty of 100,000 Ani on each of their heads.”
“Yes, Don.”
A couple men ran off to complete the tasks issued out by Lucas. Lucas looked back at the headless Ricky.
“It’s unfortunate, Ricky. I thought that we could make lots of money together. But you allowed a moment of greed to get in the way of your long term wealth.”
He turned around and walked away.
“Pay for the funeral expenses. I remembered that he had a bright kid, look after him for a bit, but don’t make it known where the money came from.”
“Yes, Don.”
Lucas continued walking.
“People are stupid sometimes. My gang is different from Tony’s you don’t need to leave it in a body bag. And while you can’t just walk away like Pearl’s, all you need to do is pay. Buy back your freedom and I won’t harass you or interfere in your life. Yet, idiots still choose to flee.”
He sighed.
“It must be because I’ve softened up a bit. People tend to forget the days when I rolled dozens of heads a day.”
He stopped.
“Could that be it, Tony?”
Standing in front of him was his childhood friend and fellow Don, Tony Gambino.
“A soft boss is a frequently disrespected boss.”
Tony replied.
“But you have balls, Lucas. To think you would run wild in my territory. It seems I’m the soft one.”
“I thought my old friend would understand.”
“I do mind, Superfly.”
“Then, my apologies, Godfather.”
“………”
“……..”
They then moved at the same time. Tony drew his silver Glock while golden brass knuckles appeared on Lucas’ hand. Tony pointed his gun at Lucas’ head while Lucas’ fist was resting on Tony’s temple.
“Pearl would probably cry if she saw us now.”
Lucas said.
“Pearl? I don’t know that bitch.”
Tony smiled.
“I told you this already when I answered your request to meet. You two are dead to me. Currently, there’s nothing I want more than to put a bullet in your heads.”
Lucas frowned.
“I already tried to make things right countless times already. Can’t it go back to how it was before?”
Rage flashed in Tony’s eyes for a second before quickly disappearing. He sighed and brought down his gun to side and turned his back to Lucas and walked away.
“Silver Bullet has a no-nonsense policy against traitor. That should answer your question.”
He left leaving Lucas with a sour expression.
