After jumping over the wall, the trio landed inside Cugine City.
“Woah.”
“Woah, indeed.”
Their first impression of the city could be summed up with one word, Modern.
The city looked as modern as one could get. There were vehicles like cars driving everywhere, people dressed in suits and casual wear, gadgets like phones looked commonplace as almost everyone was seen walking with them, and lastly, there were dozens of skyscrapers and countless apartment buildings.
With one look they could tell, Cugine City was an independent metropolis.
There was also one other thing that stood out about the city.
“There’s barely any humans.”
“Well, that’s to be expected.”
Rory replied to what Amelia said.
“Unlike Raknor, Kashmir is the domain of the Wild. In other words, it’s the den of the beastmen races.”
He looked around the city with a smile on his face.
Catfolk, Dogfolk, Rabbit People, Satyr, Lamias, Centaurs, Dwarves, Elves, Harpies, minotaurs. There were countless types of beastmen wherever he looked.
“In this place, humans are the odd ones out. Well, you two should be fine.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re a Lodon and a Megal. While you’re technically humans, in the eyes of the beastmen, you’re just evolved beasts. Look.”
Rory pointed. There were persons who spotted them and looked a bit surprised, but that was only for a second. After they saw the girls’s hair and eyes and sensed the ferocity inside them, they ignored them.
“I see. So they see us as one of them.”
Rory nodded.
“Then what about you? Will they harass you?”
“Me? That won’t happen. Beastmen have sharp senses and good instincts. One look at me and they’ll know. I’m not someone they can act dominant with.”
He said proudly.
“Anyway, lets go for a walk. There’s no point in us standing here all day.”
Saying that, Rory walked away from the wall and officially entered the city. The girls quickly followed behind him.
“But I gotta say, it’s been some time since I’ve last been in an unfamiliar place, and somewhere that I don’t have the least idea how it came about. It’s surprisingly a refreshing feeling.”
Rory said with his arms folded behind his head.
“What about Buchse?”
“What about it?”
Amelia frowned when she heard his reply.
“Hey, handsome.”
At that moment, someone walked up to Rory and started a conversation. It was a man with cat ears and tail. He was a member of the Catfolk race. From his ears and tail, it looked like he was a panther model Catfolk.
“Yes, I’m handsome. What can I do for you?”
Rory replied with a bright smile.
“Are you perhaps new in town?”
“Yes, that’s right. We’re here for sightseeing.”
“I knew it. Then would you like to hear a business proposition? I’m sure a man like yourself would like some extra vacation money.”
“Oh, that sounds tempting. As it stands, I’m currently broke.”
“I see, I see.”
The man rubbed his hands together and spoke.
“Then would you like to sell your friends to me?”
“What?!”
Amelia and Reina were enraged when they heard that, and looked like they were ready to attack the man. They stopped when Rory lifted his hand to stop them.
“I’m sorry. Could you repeat that?”
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
Rory asked with a smile and head tilt. Girls could sense anger boiling inside him. However, the man didn’t seem to sense it. Or rather, he simply ignored it.
“You see, human girls are a big hit in gentlemen clubs in this city. Especially Lodons and Megals. Their beautiful hair, eyes, and enchanting auras just turn us on.”
“Is that so? Hm, I understand. I completely get it. Elia and ReRe are especially beautiful. It wouldn’t be strange if they could make the purest souls want to taint them.”
“Who’s ReRe?”
“I think he means you.”
Amelia answered Reina.
“Huh?”
Reina pointed at herself with disbelief, and Amelia nodded. Rory continued.
“However, my friend. They’re mine. My Elia. My ReRe. Do you understand?”
“I understand, mister; but in our business everyone has a price. Just name it and I’m sure I’ll be able to pay it. Despite how I look, I work directly under one of the Three Dons. So I have quite a bit of capital.”
“I see.”
Rory nodded as if he understood something.
“When you put it like that, I’ve thought up a price.”
“Really? Then let me hear it.”
Rory smiled and placed his hand on the man’s shoulder.
“The lives of every single person in this city.”
“Huh?”
Rory smiled at him and repeated.
“The lives of every single person in this city. Your bitch of a mother, your whore of a wife, and your slut of a daughter. If you can give me all of their heads along with everyone else, I’ll consider your proposal.”
Rory’s grip on the man’s shoulder strengthened.
“But I wouldn’t get your hopes up.”
“Y-You, you don’t know of the Three Dons of Cugine City? Are you perhaps not from this continent?”
“Three Dons? Who the fuck are those scrubs? Why would I know about some stinky brats, much less fear them?”
Rory replied.
“Now then, Fodder A. What’s your answer?”
He showed a devilish smile. Seeing that, the man lost his cool. He approached Rory thinking that he could use the infamous reputation of the Three Dons, but he would never have thought that there was someone on this continent who didn’t know them.
Like they said, ignorance is a bliss; however, ignorance could also be terrifying. Because you don’t know any better, you wouldn’t hesitate to do something stupid and dangerous. Rory didn’t know the Three Dons, so he wouldn’t care about killing one of their men, much less a conman like him, who was just pretending to work for the Dons.
“Gulp.”
The man instantly knew that he was in deep shit.
“What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue? If so, I can kill every cat around here until I get it back for you.”
Rory said with a smirk.
“No, no. My mistake. Forget I said anything.”
After he said that the man ran off.
“Are you just going to let him go?”
Reina asked.
“Yeah. If I killed him in public it will cause unnecessary attention. Even if he’s a conman, everyone would get flustered. I want to enjoy my peaceful life with you two a bit longer.”
“Whenever has life been peaceful with you?”
Amelia retorted.
“I’m interested in these Three Dons he spoke about. It sounds like they’re pretty influential if it’s expected that the whole continent would know about them.”
Said Reina.
“Hmm….I’m not particularly interested though.”
“That’s surprising. I thought you would want to find out who they are and plunge this city in war.”
“Wait, how did finding them lead to war?”
“Isn’t that what you always do? You get interested in some people, find them, torment them, torment us, and then burn the place to the ground.”
“Stop making it sound like I’m a warmonger.”
“You’re not?”
The girls asked in unison.
“I’m not. I’m a peace loving individual who just wants to spend his days with one titty in his mouth and two in my hands. You know, every man’s boyhood dream.”
“I think only you would have that as your boyhood dream.”
Said Amelia.
“Anyway, I’m not interested in these Three Dons, so let’s just ignore them.”
“Wait, why didn’t that man recognize us? Weren’t our faces spread worldwide?”
Reina asked.
“Maybe because the news hasn’t reached here yet, or maybe because we’re in the open walking around casually, despite being wanted, he didn’t even begin to imagine that it was really us and only thought we looked familiar? Who knows?”
“Well, I believe this a good chance. We should disguise ourselves.”
“You want me to hide this handsome face? Impossible. That would be an act against the heavens.”
“Doesn’t your ego has a limit?”
“Ego? What ego? I’m just fabulous.”
Reina felt the urge to stab him, but let it go in the end.
“Didn’t you say you want to maintain your peaceful life with us? Wouldn’t that disappear if our identities become known?”
Amelia asked.
“You’re right.”
Rory started to think. He started to measure what was more important. His love comedy lifestyle with the girls, or his duty to bless the women of this world with his handsome face. If the girls knew what was going on in his head, they would’ve lost even more respect for him.
“Hmn! Fine, the heavens will weep, but my life with you two takes priority!”
He declared.
“I don’t know if I should feel honored or angry.”
“Don’t worry, me too.”
The girls sighed in unison.
Around 15 minutes later they found a clothes store and decided to buy some outfits.
“So we’ll each create our own disguise and come back here so that we can judge each other.”
Reina said, while they stood at the center of the store.
“I don’t mind.”
They all went their separate ways, to pick out what they wanted. After a hour they all returned to the center of the store.
“What do you think?”
Asked Reina.
She was dressed in a grey and red hoodie, with a white shirt underneath. She had a necklace of a star, a black wristband, gray joggers that was enough to hide her curves, and a pair of white sneakers.
“Wow, you totally look like a boy. You even cut your hair short.”
Said Amelia.
“No, this is a wig. I made it the same color as my hair. I’m used to disguising myself as both genders, so this was a cinch.”
Reina said.
“You don’t look bad either.”
Amelia took a completely opposite route from Reina. She was dressed in a knee length floral skirt, a stylish pink blouse, white flats, a flower necklace, and a small handbag. She looked like a cute and pure girl. Just looking at her made one want to protect her.
“You’ve abandoned your tomboyish look. Even I couldn’t recognize you.”
Reina said.
“Thanks, but where’s Rory.”
“I’m here.”
They saw someone walking up to them.
“How?”
That was the first thing the girls said when they saw him.
In front of them was a dark skin man with a handsome face and a beauty mark under his right eye, black hair, which was swept back and tied into a braid, green eyes, and a slightly muscular build. He was dressed in a black three piece suit, with a white undershirt and black tie, a pair of white gloves, and a pair of shades.
“Is that really you, Rory?”
Amelia asked.
The man, Rory, smiled and took off his shades.
“You’re not the only ones who can disguise themselves.”
When he did that he immediately drew the attention of the surrounding people, regardless of gender. The current Rory gave off the aura of a ruler among men, that would charm all those who looked at him.
Seeing that he laughed, and then winked at the girls.
“Be careful now. Don’t fall for me, I’ll only break your heart.”
