Chapter 25: Arrival of the Slime Queen
The tunnel quaked, the violent vibrations throwing the bunny girl off balance. She threw her arms out as she wobbled, barely managing to not topple over. Behind her, Eks maintained her footing without much trouble, her white tail swishing playfully as the rumbling intensified. Elron seemed to be taking it about as badly as Viola, barely able to stay upright. Elise was less lucky, falling on her butt pretty quickly, making a small eep as her backside made contact.
The mole queen leaned against the tunnel wall to steady herself through the place’s shaking. Her brown eyes (wide with nervousness) looked towards the ceiling. Rumu (her massive pet spider) swayed from side to side with the intensifying motion. Even with the damage it had sustained in its battle with Viola, the massive beast had no trouble staying upright. However, the fight had clearly left the monster quite sluggish.
A sudden crack echoed through the rocky passageway, the ceiling giving way, debris raining down. Viola leapt back, her bunny ears twitching, successfully avoiding the downpour save for a single pebble that struck her on her left shoulder. The small projectile bounced harmlessly off her Salamander Skin Armor, making only a small clink when it struck. Her green eyes watched as the tiny stone fell to the floor.
“Relax, you two,” Eks called out to the elf and human cowering behind her. “You’re far enough back. It’s caving in over there not over here.” Neither Elron nor Elise seemed to be all that responsive though.
“Rumu, look out!” the mole queen frantically cried out. At roughly ground zero of the collapse, her precious pet spider stood about to be buried. “Ru~~~mu~~~!” In an instant, the massive beast had been swallowed by the downpour of rock, the humongous weight crushing down on top of it. Tears welled up in the blond’s brown eyes, a slight tremble to her as she reached out to the giant pile. Relief supplanted her fear as her cherished pet broke free, but then horror replaced her relief as the cause of the cave-in arrived.
A horrid deluge of translucent pink slime rained down upon a now terrified Rumu. The mighty beast had become ensnared by a predator much greater than itself. Great chunks of the spider melted away as the gigantic arachnid struggled to no avail. The slime queen completely engulfed the spider, its massive body dissolving in a horrific display.
“Ru~~~mu~~~!” the mole queen screamed, falling to her knees. She collapsed to the floor, her tears streaming uncontrollably. Her beloved pet had been completely devoured by that pink horror. Not even a bit of Rumu remained.

Chapter 26: A True Monster
“How,” the mole queen muttered, “can you be gone?” The petite blond sat on her heels, her hands on the tunnel floor, her brown eyes still full of tears. She reached forward from the rocky floor, reached for a beloved pet that was no longer there. Her many flashlights still lay strewn about the tunnel, a few of their light beams shining upon the massive blob of goo that had devoured her precious pet.
A few tentacles extended out from the deforming mass, twisting about. One turned towards the distraught blond, who didn’t appear to even notice. She just continued to blankly stare forward, a dazed look on her face. Her tears still fell, and her right arm remained outstretched.
A second tentacle turned towards Viola, the bunny girl’s breath catching. Her green eyes widened as primal fear ran through her. Though Ri lacked eyes in her current form, the terrified bunny girl could feel the pink abomination watching her, could feel the pink abomination studying her. Somehow, the slime queen not attacking just made the whole ordeal that much more terrifying.
Viola gulped, a drop of sweat rolling down her cheek, her emerald eyes fixated on Ri. She took an unsteady step back, stumbling. The two of the slime queen’s tentacles that had not been focused on her reoriented. Now all three of the monster’s tentacles were pointed right at her. The terrified bunny girl had clearly become the center of Ri’s attention.
Much to Viola’s relief, the three tentacles withdrew, pulling into the slime queen’s main mass. The massive blob of translucent pink goo began to retract, shrinking down to a more manageable size. Soon, a beautiful woman with pink hair and eyes stood before the bunny girl, Ri having returned to her human form.
The buxom woman with ankle-length pink hair turned her pink eyes towards the muttering mole queen, a confused expression on her face. “What’s her problem? You’d think I ate her leg or something,” she states, cocking her head to the side, clearly puzzled by the other woman.
Viola’s jaw dropped in disbelief, even the fear she felt not enough to prevent that. “You ate her pet,” the orange haired girl finally answered. “That is why she’s so out of it right now.”
“She’s like that over that spider.” The slime queen burst out in laughter, clutching her sides in mirth. “It was just a dumb spider. Who cares if I ate it? Between you and me, that spider wasn’t even that tasty.”
“How could you?” Viola stared at the grinning slime girl, a feeling of rage welling up inside her. “You did that to her, and now you laugh about it.” Anger and terror battled for supremacy within her, her right hand shaking, the desire to draw her blade being held back by fear.
“So I ate her pet. Why should I even care? It was just food to me.” Ri set her pink eyes on Viola, a calm smile on the slime queen’s face.
