Viola panted heavily, sweat pouring down her face. Her lantern was firmly clutched in her right hand, her left arm steadying herself against the tunnel wall. Her face wasn’t the only part of her that was sweaty, far from it actually. She pushed off the wall, shifting herself. She grimaced at the armor on sweat feeling. At least she lost the monster, or did she?
The green-eyed bunny girl froze, the color draining from her face as the sound of rapid footsteps came to her ears. She spun around and took a cat girl to the face. Eks glomped onto the confused girl, throwing her arms around her and nuzzling her cheek against hers. The shocked bunny girl found a pair of legs wrapping around her as the two of them went down.
Viola winced as her backside met rock, the light dimming considerably with a pair of crashes. She looked up, and Eks’s red eyes met her green. The cat girl was sitting on her waist, her hands on her shoulders, pinning her down. The ruined remains of their lanterns lay a short distance away.
“Hi, Vi. How are you doing?”
“I’d be doing better if you’d get off of me.”
“You sure you want that?” Eks replied alluringly. The beautiful cat girl leaned down to the blushing bunny girl under her. She planted a quick peck on her girlfriend’s forehead before climbing to her feet. With a cute smile, she offered her hand.
Viola took the cat girl’s hand and rose to her feet. The bunny girl glanced around, her vision stopping on the broken lanterns before looking up. Above the two girls, a plethora of luminescent red fungus was growing on the tunnel’s ceiling. The light given of by the fungus had a reddish hue but wasn’t that bright. However, it was bright enough to see and gave the cavern a nice rosy hue.
“Nice, isn’t it?” Eks said, a dreamy smile on her face.
“Uh… Sure… Not creepy at all…”
“Let’s hold hands!”
“O… K…,” Viola answered as the cat girl eagerly grabbed onto her left hand with her right, a slight blush returning to the bunny girl’s face.
“Isn’t this romantic?”
“You mean with or without the freaky fungus?”
“T-The fungus isn’t that freaky, is it?” Eks replied, seeming to almost shrink back. She didn’t let go of Viola’s hand though.
“Why are you suddenly acting hurt?”
“No reason. Come on! Let’s follow the fungus!”
Viola found herself being pulled by a now beaming cat girl. “Wait a moment!” she protested. “Why do we want to follow that stuff?”

“Why not?”
“What kind of answer is that?! Don’t you think following a bunch of creepy fungus might be a bad idea. What if it leads to a fungus monster or something?” “Actually, what the heck am I even saying? Fungus monster? Really?”
“Creepy? You really find it creepy?” Eks sweatdropped, clearly dejected. She let go of Viola’s hand, taking a moment to compose herself. Sighing, she continued, “Could you follow the fungus for me?” The blue-haired cat girl took Viola’s right hand in both her hands this time, her red eyes pleading.
“I-I’ll do it! Just stop with the puppy dog eyes.”
“Great!” Eks chirped, releasing Viola’s right hand before taking the bunny girl’s left hand in her right. “Let’s go!” The obviously happy cat girl started pulling her girlfriend forward. She wasn’t trying to pull the bunny girl into a run, just a casual walk.
Viola joined Eks at the cat girl’s right side, their hands loosely clasped. This actually did feel pretty nice. The bunny girl looked to her girlfriend, noting the pleasant smile on the cat girl’s face. “Eks really is cute!” “Uh… Do you mind if I put my arm around you?”
“Go for it!” Eks beamed, releasing the bunny girl’s hand and pressing into her side.
Viola reached around, putting her left arm around the cat girl. In response, Eks rested her head on Viola’s shoulder, a slight blush on her cheeks. The position was a tad awkward due to their armor, but they held it as they continued to walk forward.
“She isn’t just cute! She is too cute!” the bunny girl thought, gazing at the cat girl on her shoulder. Her own blush was intensifying as they walked. For awhile, the only sound that could be heard was the soft footsteps of the two girls.
“Vi,” Eks broke the verbal silence. “I want a kiss. Could you give me one?”
Viola froze as the cat girl wiggled out of her hold. The cat girl in question took a position right in front of her, hearts in her eyes. Viola leaned forward. Eks did the same. Their lips met midway.
The kiss wasn’t quick, the two girls tasting each other as it continued. Melting into it, Viola found herself reaching around Eks, hearts forming in her eyes. Eks, in turn, reached around Viola, caressing her. The bunny girl’s ears twitched when she felt a pair of hands reach her backside, her cottony tail did too. Just as the kiss was ending, Viola felt her legs getting wobbly. The two separated, a dribble of saliva running down the bunny girl’s chin, her breaths coming out in pants, her heart racing. Trying to do it as coolly as she could, she wiped away the dribble with her right gauntlet. Actually, it was more awkwardly than coolly since gauntlets aren’t really made for that.
“Thanks, Vi. That was great.”
“Yes, that most certainly was. Thanks, Eks.”
The two girls smiled at one another for a moment. Then they returned to walking hand in hand, following the fungus down the tunnel. As they walked, Viola couldn’t help but steal occasional glances at Eks, blushing when she caught herself. Eks herself had a content grin on her face, enjoying the bashful bunny girl beside her.
