Viola threw the first punch, her right gauntlet flying through the air. Actually, air was all the attack struck. The orange haired bunny girl clicked her tongue in annoyance, her ears twitching. She swung again (another miss).
“What’s a matter, bunny girl? Can’t hit me?” the surprisingly agile woman piped up as she dodged yet again. Once more, Viola’s fist sailed harmlessly through the air, not having connected with the mole queen even once.
“Why don’t you just stand still?!” the bunny girl yelled in frustration, her face flushing. She kicked out her leg, but her speedy target jumped out of range. Had she not found the situation so vexing, Viola would have been impressed by her opponent’s speed (particularly when considering that the mole queen was wearing that bulky bodysuit).
“Stand still? Where’s the fun in that? Besides, shouldn’t you be a little faster? I mean, are you or are you not a bunny girl?”
“Don’t taunt me!” Viola unleashed a flurry of punches (most of which missed), but the last punch slightly clipped her foe’s bodysuit.
“What’s this? Almost had me with that last one, but alas, I am unscathed. Anyways, that offer to play checkers instead of whatever this is still stands. You’ll need to supply the board though.”
“Has anyone ever told you that you talk to much?” Viola finally caught the woman with a knee to the stomach, buckling her over. “Finally!” She followed up with an elbow to the back, sending her foe to the tunnel floor, the woman’s lantern shattering. Shadows consumed the scene.
Smirking arrogantly, the bunny girl summoned an orb of flame in her right hand, driving the shadows back. “You lose. Now step aside, or should we continue this?”
“T-This isn’t over! This isn’t over at all! How dare you do that to a queen?!” The mole queen climbed back to her feet, anger evident in her voice. She fished a small flashlight from her pocket and proceeded to shine it in Viola’s face. “How do you like that, heathen?”
Viola dispelled the flame and shielded her eyes from the offending beam. “Figures you have a flashlight. Could you, you know, stop that or something?”
“What’s wrong? Afraid of a little light?”
“Have it your way.” The bunny girl dashed to the side, vanishing into the tunnel’s inky darkness.
“That’s not fair!” the mole queen yelped in dismay. She frantically swung her flashlight around, trying to locate her opponent. “No using the unidirectional nature of this light against me!” A fist met her gut, knocking her against the tunnel wall. Panting, she dropped to her knees, her arms limp at her sides.
Viola summoned her flame again, illuminating her face. “This is over,” she emphasized to the panting woman on her knees. “Will you just give up already?”

The mole queen fell to the ground, exploding into laughter. “Give up? But the fun’s just starting, bunny girl.” She sprung up to her feet, her vigor reignited. “Check this out! Super flashlight zone!”
The green eyed girl blinked in confusion at the spinning girl before her. A veritable rain of switched on flashlights fell in the tunnel, the flashlights having been tossed out by the mole queen herself. Actually, how did she even have that many flashlights. It was unnatural to say the least.
“Guess I don’t need this.” Viola put her flame out again, glancing across the battlefield. A ridiculous number of beams of light shone every which way imaginable. The various beams cut through inky darkness, making the battlefield an odd mix of shadow and light.
“Behold! Now you can’t use my flashlights against me!” the mole queen proudly boasted. She jumped from one beam to another, giving the visual appearance of teleportation.
Viola facepalmed, her bunny ears twitching. “What the heck?! Why? Just Why? This is utterly ridiculous.” “Let’s just get this over with already.”
“My pleasure.” The mole queen started an onslaught (her blows fast and strong). She unleashed attack after attack but never many at once. Instead, she employed a hit and run tactic, vanishing back into the darkness after each strike.
“Why am I being overpowered? She’s not hitting that hard. Most of her attacks aren’t even landing.” She twisted around, blocking a sweeping kick. The bunny girl felt the strength of the blow transverse through her. It wasn’t that strong, but it was enough to help wear her down. Soft pants began coming from her mouth. A drop of sweat dripped from her chin. She wouldn’t be able to keep this up if this continued.
She glanced towards the flashlight illuminating her. “Wait. I’m just standing here in the light. That’s the problem.” Viola ducked yet another surprised attack before stepping into the darkness herself. The gas mask wearing lady wasn’t the only one that could play this game.
“I see you finally wised up,” the mole queen commented, “but do you think it actually matters? I am the mole queen. You can’t beat me at this game. Here, I am absolute. Here, I will never be defeated. Eep!” The mole queen took a rather unceremonious punch to the face, forcing her to stagger backwards into a beam of light.
“You definitely talk too much.” Viola stepped into a different light beam, her emerald eyes focused on the mole queen, a confident air about her. “A word of advice. If you are trying to hide your presence, don’t talk so much.”
“Clearly, you just got lucky. Otherwise, you would have never been able to find me.”
“And she’s still talking.”
The two girls stepped back into the darkness, their forms vanishing. Soft thuds sounded as they moved about, shifting their positions. Here and there, they would momentarily pop into a beam of light as they tried to outmaneuver one another. Occasionally, they would meet and exchange blows (not only in the light but sometimes in the dark).
“I must congratulate you for lasting this long,” the mole queen started to boast. “It is useless though. My victory is inevitable. Inevitable! Eep!” Her misguided boast led to her getting punched yet again.
“Didn’t we just do this?” Viola deadpanned, the two girls back in separate beams of light. “You really didn’t learn, did you?”
