Chapter 1: Goodbye, Peter Baker

Chapter 1: Goodbye, Peter Baker

A beautiful cat girl stretched her arms in front of a deep indoor pool. She was quite busty with a 165cm tall frame. She had cream skin, blue hair that reached to her butt, red eyes, and white fur on her cat-like ears and tail. In addition to the feline ears, she also had regular human ears. To put it plainly, she kind of looked like a lovely human girl who was wearing cat girl cosplay. It wasn’t cosplay though. Those cat-like ears and tail were real. She was an actual cat girl. She was Eks Fells, the cat girl.

Ms. Fells was wearing a gray thigh-length robe with a golden rope tied around her waist. Her legs sported white thigh-highs, a small gap showing skin between the top of the thigh-highs and the bottom of the robe. Her feet were clad in black shoes with 2cm heels. She wore a pair of emerald earrings. It wasn’t really the kind of get up one expects for a pool. The pool, though, wasn’t the point.

Eks had come here not to swim but to hide from her ex. She wasn’t actually from earth, but figured she could lay low here for a bit. The pool was just coincidental. It just happened to be where she popped into earth. In truth, the cat girl had come from a world called Asha.

Movement caught Eks’s eye as a pink tentacle rose up from the depths of the pool. Its translucent form undulated from side to side, its tip staying fixed on Eks. The blue-haired cat girl sweat dropped. It looked like her ex had followed her. So much for laying low. She took out a flask and took a swig of its contents, brandy, before putting it away. She readied herself as the pink goo prepared to strike. However, it didn’t strike at her. Instead, there was an unexpected sound, a door opening. Both Ms. Fells and the tentacle turned to its source. Across the gray stone floor, the metallic double door leading to the pool swung open. Like the stone floor, the door was also gray.

A green eyed guy stood in the doorway, the double door ajar. He was 174cm tall with green eyes and short black hair. His skin possessed a light tan coloration to it. He was clad in brown swim trunks, having clearly expected to go for a nice swim. Now, though, he stood motionless in the doorway. His name was Peter Baker.

The eighteen year old didn’t know what to make of what he was seeing. Somehow, it didn’t seem real to him. There was a beautiful buxom woman, who appeared to be wearing cat girl cosplay, as well as a pink tentacle. They both seemed to be staring at him. True, the tentacle didn’t have eyes, but that was the best way he could describe what it seemed to be doing.

This couldn’t be real. Someone had be be pranking him. What other explanation could there possibly be. Peter awkwardly took a step forward. “This is just a prank, right?” he said. Unfortunately for him, it most certainly wasn’t a prank.

The next moment, it became all to real for poor Mr. Baker. The tentacle ran him through. His legs hung down as it lifted him up, having impaled him through the chest. Blood began to leak from his mouth. He grabbed at the tentacle, trying to remove himself from it to no avail. Instead, his hand just melted away on contact. “Am I going to die? I don’t want to die,” he thought in horror, tears forming in his eyes. The tentacle swung to the side, hurling his failing body back to the stone floor, a sickening thud sounding as he impacted.

“You alright, rando dude?” Eks called out. “Guess not.” She glanced from the dead guy to the gooey pink tentacle. There was no blood on it. It had already devoured the blood that it had come into contact with. Slimes truly were fearsome creatures.

The translucent pink creature had returned its attention to Ms. Fells, its tip pointing towards her. The next instant, it lashed out. Eks danced around its attacks easily enough. It wasn’t hard for her to dodge it. She had enough speed. Too bad it had killed the rando though. “Wait a moment,” she thought, glancing towards the dead dude. There was still time. “I can work with this.”

“Don’t go to the light, dead guy!” the cat girl called out. The gooey creature reacted by forming two more tentacles. Eks sweat dropped. “Really!? Can’t you cut me a break!?” She returned to weaving around the attacks. The truth of the matter was that what she was faced with was only a small portion of her opponent. Most of it had yet to emerge. Of course, it didn’t quite matter since she didn’t intend to be hanging around here much longer.

“Am I dead? Is this heaven or hell?” Mr. Baker stood in pitch darkness, no sky, no ground. Well, he had to be standing on something, but for the life of him, he could not see it. He could see his hands just fine, so it wasn’t actually pitch black. All detail of this place seemed to be missing though. It was quite odd to perceive it to tell the truth, but here he was, stranding in this pitch darkness that seemed to lack actual darkness.

Then he saw something in the distance. It was so faint at first that he wandered if it was truly there. At the same time though, it seemed unmistakable in this empty place. It was a tiny speck of light, but a few moments later, it had grown considerably. It seemed like it was calling him. He couldn’t hear it, yet he knew it was calling him. He started walking, one step and then another.

Peter stopped. Something had grabbed his left arm. It felt warm. He suddenly noticed just how cold this place was. The warmth of whatever had grabbed him was warm in comparison, comforting even. He turned and found himself face to face with the beautiful cat girl from before.

“Come with me,” she spoke with a pleasant smile, her voice soothing. Peter found himself unable to turn her down. He followed the beautiful woman as she led him away, led him away from the light. He took one last look back. The light was shrinking, dwindling away to nothing. He hoped following her was the right choice.
