Chapter 20: The Mole Queen’s Trump Card

Viola continued to mix it up with the mole queen, blows flying. The two girl’s leapt in and out of various beams of light as the battle dragged on. Apart from the mole queen routinely getting smacked due to not knowing when to shut up, the two were actually holding well against one another.

The green eyed bunny girl panted, her ears twitching. The fight was getting to her. Although she was scoring more hits than her opponent, she hadn’t managed to actually do any real damage. She clicked her tongue in annoyance, planting a foot down firmly before throwing her strength into a punch. Her target jumped back into the darkness, her right fist slamming into the wall.

“Ouch!” She winced, pulling her sore hand back, giving it a shake.

“You’re open! Time to finish this! Super mole queen attack!”

Viola stepped aside and deadpanned as the mole queen flew face first into the tunnel wall. The whole darn tunnel shook as she bounced off and rolled across the floor, small cracks being left in the rock at the site of the impact. “I-I meant to do that,” she managed to moan as she ever so wobbly stumbled to her feet.

Her mask appeared quite a bit worse for wear. Like the site of impact, her mask also sported cracks. Unlike the site of impact, the cracks in her mask were growing, actively snaking across the headgear. With a startling pop, the mask shattered, its remnants clattering unceremoniously to the tunnel floor and revealing the cream colored skin of her face. Her blond locks fell free and reached to her mid-back in length.

“Y-You broke my mask!” she cried, tears in her brown eyes.

“Didn’t you say that you meant to do that?” Viola countered as she looked over the other girl. Truth be told, she wasn’t expecting her to be so cute (not like that was the kind of thing she should be thinking about right now).

“Of course I meant to do that!” the blond human quickly answered, recomposing herself.

“Is your next plan to knock yourself out? That would make this easier, you know.”

“I have a better idea! Behold!” She raised her right hand into the air, pointing up. “Rumu, come! Mommy needs you!”

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The whole tunnel began to quake as the biggest spider Viola had ever seen crawled out of the shadows. Each of its steps proved enough to shake the place. Luckily, no cave in occurred.

Viola glanced back towards the mole queen. “What the heck?! Did you put armor on that thing?!”

“Don’t be silly. That’s his exoskeleton. He’s a giant armored spider. And he’s not a thing. He’s Rumu. I raised him from when he was a little baby,” the mole queen doted on the positively massive spider before leaping up onto his back. “Eat the bad bunny girl, Rumu! She hurt me!”

Rumu reared up on its hind legs, unleashing an ear piercing roar. He lowered down, firmly planting his feet, bracing himself for battle. Droplets of poison dripped from his fangs in anticipation of the impending fight.

Emerald eyes wide, Viola found herself backing up. A primal sense of fear rushed through her at the sight of the over sized beast. Swallowing it, she stopped her shaky retreat. “To think she had something like this.” The bunny girl placed a hand on the handle of her Stone’s Bane Sword, the touch reassuring her.

“You can to it, Vi!” her girlfriend called to her, the blue haired cat girl enthusiastically waving her on. Eks’s red eyes watched with an intense interest. “You did great against queeny! Now squash that overgrown bug!”

“Overgrown bug!” the mole queen screeched. “How dare you?! I’ll have you know that Rumu is a very majestic spider! Show him some respect!”

Eks stifled a grin for a moment before giving in and collapsing to the floor in a fit of laughter. Climbing back to her feet, the cat girl added, “I stand corrected! Squash that very majestic spider, Vi!”

The mole queen narrowed her brown eyes, clenching her fists as her face went red. “Don’t listen to them, Rumu. Mommy knows that you’ll be the one doing the squashing. Now go make that bad bunny girl go splat!”

The massive armored spider began walking forward, the tunnel trembling from its sheer weight. Its metallic exoskeleton glistened as it passed through a multitude of light beams, each of its steps drawing it closer to its prey.

Viola gulped, shrinking back again at the approaching spider. Her hand still grasped the handle of her sheathed blade, but it no longer felt so reassuring (not with that monstrosity approaching). “I think I’m going to need this.” She drew her Stone’s Bane Sword, her hand shaky. “Relax. It’s only a spider. Sure it’s a really big spider, but it’s still just a spider. Who am I kidding?! Its a freakishly huge spider with built in armor (totally not a normal spider)! Still, I can do this!”
