Chapter 7 - Preparation.

Chapter 7 - Preparation.

Lukas woke up the next day with his plan already in mind. He put on a black hoodie and pulled up the hood before leaving the house, carrying the two potions he had bought using his system.

When he purchased the potions, they magically appeared in his hands, which was quite surprising.

Lukas put the two potions in his backpack and calmly walked through the streets, trying not to draw attention. It was common to encounter players on the streets, and Lukas feared being robbed.

Yes, that happens.

It was rare since players who engaged in such acts would have their licenses revoked and be prohibited from becoming players again. However, some didn't care about that.

"All right, is this the place?" In a remote neighborhood, Lukas approached a small, discreet shop. He had discovered this place on the internet. It was a shop for used items, a small store that other players rarely visited.

The post he had seen about this shop had less than ten likes on Twitter.

He opened the door, and a bell rang, signaling to the shopkeeper that a new customer had arrived.

The old man behind the dusty counter narrowed his eyes when he saw Lukas.

"A child?"

"I'm not a child; I'm already 18."

"To me, you're a child. So, what do you want? Do you want to buy a weapon or something? We're running low on weapons; I'm unsure if you'll find what you're looking for." The man sounded discouraged.

Lukas looked at the shelves in the store and noticed a few items on display: armor, daggers, swords. Everything was old and rusty.

"I'm not here to buy a weapon; I'm here to sell items. You buy items, too, don't you?"

"Huh? Yes, we do buy." The old man's eyebrows lifted in curiosity.

Lukas smiled and placed his backpack on the dusty counter. He opened it and then took out two potions from inside. The shopkeeper's eyes widened when he saw the liquid shining inside the transparent flasks.

"Is this...?"

"That's right, potions." Lukas picked up the backpack and put it back on his back, leaving only the two potions on the counter. "They're potions I made; they're low-level, but I'm confident in their quality."

He hadn't made them but couldn't say he bought them using his system. No other player had anything like that.

"You made them? Can I touch them?"

"Sure, go ahead."

The old man took the potions, one in each hand, and examined them meticulously. "I see. They are indeed low-level, but they are of high quality. Did you make them? You must be a very competent alchemist."

"Not really; I awakened as a player recently."

"And you've already made a potion of such high quality?! That's amazing; I can't believe it." The man was sweating. He placed the potions on the counter and then raised his hand, showing two fingers.

"I'll give you $200 for each of them."

"What?" Upon hearing the amount the shopkeeper wanted to pay for the potions, Lukas couldn't believe it. It took him a moment to "wake up" again and ask the shopkeeper if he was serious.

"I'm serious. If these potions were of low quality, I would pay $80 to $100 for them, but the quality of both is completely different. I can't let this opportunity pass."

"Okay. I'll sell both for $400."

"Deal." The old man extended his hand, and Lukas shook it firmly.

The man kept the two potions and handed $400 to Lukas. Lukas didn't usually use cash and used only his card. He would deposit the money later.

"If you want to sell more potions, I'd happily buy them."

"All right, it was great doing business with you." Lukas left the store feeling satisfied.

The old man, watching Lukas leave his store, smiled contentedly. 'If this kid made these two potions, he would become a legendary alchemist. Now I have to get in touch with that guy. He'll probably be excited to hear this.'

Since no weapons interested him in the store, Lukas took the money and headed to another store. This time, it was a well-known shop that sold high-quality weapons. Unlike the previous store, which was small and old, the new building Lukas visited was different.

It was a modern store with three floors.

The facade was made of mirrors, and they displayed armor. Not just armor but also weapons and some magical rings. Lukas had seen some rings in the system's store, but they were all expensive.

Lukas entered the building. On the first floor, most items were armor. Various models were displayed. It was like a clothing store.

"How can I assist you?" As Lukas walked through the store's aisles, a saleswoman wearing a suit appeared. She had short hair with a side-swept fringe, and her smile never faded.

"I was looking for a sword or maybe a dagger." Lukas was still undecided

He could fight very well without weapons, but he knew he would need a weapon to kill a monster. Killing monsters with just his fists was a complicated task.

Only people with special classes like the "Monk" class or the basic class "Pugilist" could do something like that.

And since he needed a weapon, he was considering lightweight weapons like a one-handed sword or a dagger. Daggers were standard weapons among players of the "Assassin" class, but it didn't mean players from other classes couldn't use them.

"Do you want a two-handed sword? A one-handed sword? A thinner blade or a slightly thicker one? It will affect the weight of the sword."

"I want a one-handed sword. A sword similar to a katana would be good, but with a slightly shorter blade."

"Hmmm... So it would be like a dagger with a slightly longer blade, right?"

"That's right. Is there a weapon like that here?"

"We can look for one, but if we can't find it, we can have it custom-made for you. What do you think?"

"That would be good."

"Most of the weapons are on the second floor, so let's go upstairs."

"Okay."
