A Brute.

That was not something I expected. Brutes are at high end of the Medium spectrum and not something you would ever want to fight in close quarters. Definitely not something that appears often.

Just how rotten is my damn luck?

Thanks to that encounter, the cargo was all lost and honestly speaking, it’s a miracle that Lily is still moving.

What actually happened after the explosion?

I am not quite sure, my memory is quite fuzzy, I probably have a concussion you know?

...My latest memory after the explosion is waking up inside the train network tunnel that ran parallel to the highway tunnel, but gathering from the wall of rubble and earth where the highway tunnel used to be, it probably collapsed.

What about Alicia? I checked earlier, she seems to have hit her head and lost consciousness somewhere along the way, eh, probably for the best, or she might have soiled all over her seat during the fight with the Brute.

Well, to get back on point, I am now limping along an uncharted train tunnel, hoping to reach a station before I am found by hostiles,

Ah shit, there went the power core, …leaking hydraulics must have got to it…

“...There there, we had a good run didn’t we?” I softly spoke to Lily.

“You can rest now.”

*Power cuts off*

I disconnect from the controls, got Alicia from her compartment and whilst carrying her on my back, I continue moving. My eye implants allow me to see at least a little bit, so I can keep going.

In the dark I keep on moving.
