The Ìrota attack force was spotted a day later. Their summed full force is more or less: 40 Heavies, 30 Artillery, 200 normal Walkers. About 270 total.
This, is indeed a rather frightening military presence, 270 Walkers is enough to cause some serious hurt.
I wonder if it is actually more than they sent to help Aurora when Neuro invaded...
Well, that is inconsequential.
Whilst they were still in transit towards us, we took care to make proper use of the chance.
Namely,
Propaganda.
Showing the populace ‘just how the “Groups” and their corporations respond to our hunt for freedom’ with footage of the incoming military was indeed rather effective on the populace, after all. Propaganda has not been used with to this extent for nearly a century.
As such volunteering to join the defence became nearly the norm, instead of exception. This is one of the reasons I made sure the populace was cared for.
Loyal populace is always better than a fearful one.
“Loyalty Is always important. No matter the scale.”
Exactly.
I decided to engage the enemy before they reach the arcology.
This might seem foolish. After all, you saw what happened with Neuro.
But this enemy is different.
As is the command this time.
To put it simply. I employed trickery.
I plotted the most likely path the enemy would take, and prepared. The tactic was rather simple, I hauled a large portion of the Artillery in the arcology over, as well as most of our mines and gun placements. I made the scene of attack happen along a road passing through a heavily overgrown farmland.
As the enemy passed through, I divided them with artillery fire (normal shells mixed with phosphorus and napalm shells. Perfect for flashy looking bombardment without wasting high-end shells) and then began expanding the field of fire at a steady rate.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Unsurprisingly, they retreated sideways. Right into the minefields and places where I had our gun placements ready finish them.
“...You slaughtered 270 Walkers with gun placements, mines, and artillery?”
Technically, I slaughtered 135 Walkers with gun placements, mines, and artillery.
I just happened to do it twice. Divide and conquer can be used like this too.
Honestly speaking, the only reason this worked was because the enemy was unable to accurately scout the surrounding vicinity,
The plants were growing nearly as tall as a man, and as such were well able to hide mines and gun placements.
Whereas the artillery was hidden under camo-materials until it was time to start firing.
So as a sum up. We had the advantage of surprise and not being spotted once. ...we also hauled a large majority of the entire non-Walker weaponry there... so it would be weird if it was not enough...
If you are wondering why I did not use our Walkers. That would be simple.
Right now, we are en-route to Ìrota. I am not even near the battlefield back home, I just keep in contact by a heavy-duty transmitter that we looted from the Commission's Group HQ at Aurora.
..The ones who defended aurora were essentially just a lot of civilians and a few dozen of my “Faceless” to guide them.
...I wonder how Ìrota is going to react, having their force annihilated and their own Arcology under siege.
…*Sigh* it is truly a shame how far the art of war has degraded after the Old government fell.
...Lily remind me to set up a public school system if this all succeeds. Okay`?
“ ‘kay.”
And so, our march continues.
They attempted to take our Arcology, Now we will take theirs.
… Please wait for me Alicia… I will fix my wrongs.
...No matter what it takes.
...No matter what.
*Pov: Elias Camber*
We were en-route to Aurora when it happened.
An artillery attack broke our ranks, firing in a straight line through our armada, mixing smoke and napalm shells among the artillery.
We tried to move away and regroup but as we did, we ran directly into a minefield. And then bullets started flying at us from multiple directions.
It was not even 10 minutes before we were no more…
...Jesus christ… what monster did we end up in a war with?
*Pov: Faceless*
We took down an armada with a bunch of civilians and some basic weaponry…
...Is there anything Boss cannot do?
...perhaps, just maybe… I might be standing in the middle of events that will be spoken of a millennia from now, legend in the making…
Yet I wonder if we will all be remembered as heroes or villains?
...Whatever happens, I will see it through to the end.
