Chapter 54: Aftermath

Chapter 54: Aftermath

I had to be careful now that Ìrota was ours, Aurora only had Ìrota for aid but now that we took Írota, we have gotten ourselves in the crosshairs of everyone in the nearby landscape.

Ìrota is that important for commerce to flow.

For the time being I had issued an open threat to destroy Ìrota myself if any attempts to take it were to occur.

I also promised to keep the commerce flowing through Irota as long as there were no hostilities raised against us.

I don’t know if it will be enough, but it should be.

I did have to leave a sizeable force of “Faceless” to protect Irota when I left back for Aurora since the populace had not yet fully come to terms with the change in leadership.

But they would soon fall in line as a consequence of propaganda and easier life under my rule.

And once they grow used to it, they will naturally spread the ideal. Allowing for the cause to spread onwards.

Or so I hope.

Beyond that, I also have plans to ensure the allegiance of the other Arcologies well underway. Let's hope they pan out.

Currently I am going through various company licenses and the like, trying to maintain reasonable order in the two Arcologies.

“These...last papers…” Marionette said as she handed me some more paperwork.

“Thanks Marionette, you have been working hard. I am proud of you.” I said as I patted her head, eliciting a familiar faint smile on her head.

“Once we have the other Arcologies under control I will help you find your brother. Promise” I told her, making her nod a little.

That is her goal apparently. Meeting her brother again.

“That is a bit… tragic, is it not?”

Well, either way. I already looked into it, her brother is dead.

...He was sold to a particularly brutal slave owner that was into snuff…

“ ‘Kay, I suddenly don’t want to know more.”

Yeah, sometimes the world can really suck.

Focusing my mind to the paperwork, I continue working until late evening, there was not anything of real interest, but it was necessary work.

...After finishing my work I went to see Alicia at the private Pharmacy Group run by C&C.

*Pov:Alicia*

Rasmus came to see me today… He brought Tibbles with him… It has been so long…

Ever since Rasmus promised to... fix me, he has had this…

...Sadness that I can't make disappear… whenever he comes see me he looks like he is torturing himself…

Hearing that he would not abandon me… It made me so happy… But now I almost wish he did… then Rasmus would not be in so much pain all the time.

...Please… stop being so sad all the time…

*Pov: Mc*

...It seems Tibbles loved seeing Alicia again, who would have guessed a squirrel could miss a human so much…

For the time being I asked the doctors if Tibbles could stay with Alicia, they agreed.

I chatted with Alicia… She mostly talked and asked questions, whereas I answered and listened.

...It has been a while… I am sorry,

I promise… I will get you out of here.

...After the visit, I retired for the day once more.

This war is far from over.

...Another briefing was held today.

We would be waging war against another insurgency group. They have been increasing recently. Making it seem likely that someone is pulling the strings in the background.

After the briefing, I check my equipment and head off to the transport, ready to face my next task.

Once more, my silent squad of Weapons sit silently in our transport vehicle en-route to battlefield.

I wonder, do the others think?

Or am I the only one?

… Irrelevant.

….All that I need to know and think of, is how to kill the foe.
