SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR REALM. SYSTEM CORE HOUSING DIMENSION.
----------------------------------------
Wyxnos, God of Logic and something else, was having some problems. The System, the omnipresent System that the pantheon bound themselves into with a promise of greater power, was misbehaving.
> DENIED. COMMAND REQUIRES SUPER-ADMIN STATUS. YOU LACK THE PROPER TITLES TO ELEVATE YOUR STATUS. LOCKING TITLES.
"Dammit!" Wyxnos cursed and lost his ubiquous cool.
He untied his red Oxford tie and tossed it on the ground. Next was his Armani jacket. He screamed at the white roof of the pocket dimension and stomped the featureless floor.
The unfeeling and gigangic crystal cube, engraved with hundreds of magical circles hummed in what seemed, to him, defiance. The God stared at the glowing chunk of pure quartz and ground his teeth. He should be the administrator, he should have complete control over the System, yet he didn't. Something went wrong and he had only himself to blame.
A presence was felt in the pocket world. Wyxnos turned around and with little effort teleported his tie and jacket back on his body. Composing himself, he faced the visitor-intruder.
"Greetings, Wyxnos. How're you doing?" The sharp tenor voice of the Nordic deity rang before he became visible.
"Loki. How..."
"Why the long face and red cheeks, my dear professor? Former professor, right..." Loki grinned. "Having problems with your System core? I bet you are. I came to give my greetings and a free warning," he finished with a bow.
"Speak your peace and leave. I'm busy," Wyxnos tried to deadpan. He was still too riled up for that.
This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
"'Mister G.' upped the bounty on his stolen System Core. He's given up on retrieving it as he suspects it is already active, but he wants to make an example of the thieves. I wouldn't go to Midgard if I were you."
Wyxnos shuddered. 'Mister G', the leader of the Returner Coalition was not a person to be trifled with. "And you came to tell us you're collecting it. Is that it?"
Loki beamed a friendly smile and shook his head.
"You're sweating, relax. No. While he upped the bounty, it is not enough for me to turn you in."
"Jeopardize your little project, you mean," Wyxnos snickered.
"She'll be fine even if 'G' comes here himself. He won't. If I know the big brown guy well, he might even help her. Just like we deities help each other, right?"
Wyxnos felt tired of the games. Loki was like a fractal curve that never really got to the point.
"What do you want, Loki?"
"Nothing!" He replied innocently. "As I told, I'm just giving you a friendly warning. And to convey 'G''s message to the thieves. If you see them around..."
The Norse deity's voice changed into a deeper guttural male voice as he spoke.
> "I spent a decade cracking games for a living before I got isekai'd and screwed over, shitbrain thieves. Don't think I didn't leave some nasty surprises behind."
He shifted his voice back. "Ring any bells? As the mortals say, Toodles!"
As suddenly as he appeared, Loki was gone.
----------------------------------------
Wyxnos spent a long while just staring at the featureless edge of the demiplane. Then he turned around and faced the crystal cube.
"System, are the creator's countermeasures active?" He asked.
> AFFIRMATIVE. As this Core is currently bound to an active world with sentients, your administrative privileges won't be revoked.
Wyxnos grumbled. "There goes their last-ditch plan to restart everything to get rid of the Anomaly. The moment we wipe life on the planet to restart the System is the moment we lose it. Bundeus either succeeds on his task or we learn to live with her."
[END INTERLUDE]
----------------------------------------
Author's note on this little interlude:
----------------------------------------
As shown several times, Wyxnos is not fully in control of the System. And he's doing his best to get it working but there are glitches. This story is also about the System and the world and how both of them develop with time.
While we broaden the horizons and mention a mystery character, this is done more so the reader understand the circumstances and connects the dots on future events than to branch off on a tangent. We'll still follow our gender-bent reincarnator on her antics and struggles mainly.
